I'm surprised that nobody ever thought to regard Henry Crow as a hero, he literally had Purple Heart and Silver Medals, two of the highest awards the military can give. Instead they treated him like a freak and feared him when they could've admired him, and provoked him instead of welcoming him.

@@kymberlyn420 Indeed, sure Henry was a killing machine but he did it serving God's country. And I can 99.9999% guarantee it wasn't even him who robbed his father's grave and all that. And he had every right to do what he did, because the people threw the first stone at him and he simply retaliated in self-defense.

My favorite story was the one that I thought I would like the least: the one about the "former ne'er do well turned military veteran" fighting against the real monsters of 70s Texas when a girl went missing. Thanks for narrating these, Joel. They are a highlight of my evenings as I wait for my sleeping meds to kick in. Sad to say that about a year after I started watching your videos, I became unable to sleep without some form of medication. I am a night owl by nature, but it is bad when I want to fall asleep/need to sleep for work, school or some other important thing. Let's read some 'scary stories' with Let's Read, no puns intended.

I haven't ever done anything more than second-hand smoke, but for some reason I just love psychedelic trip stories of all kinds... good trips, bad ones, whatevs. That peanut butter tooth story is an A+, and a good reminder of why, however I may be tempted, I'm not touching psychedelics.
@sleepyproduction7166 Жыл бұрын
The bad trips are bad, and can end in disaster, but worse than that. To me at least. Are the looping trips. Where you sit down inside, think ‘I’d feel better outside’ go outside then think ‘I’d enjoy this better inside’ rinse repeat. Then as you start coming down at certain points you kind of wake up and try to stop doing the same things over and over and over. But you can’t stop. It’s mentally impossible and so frustrating. And even wilder is when the hallucinations are looping. You walk over hill and right as you crest it. The hill reappears. You don’t even know where you are, definitely not walking up an infinite hill, but somewhere. Being with good people, in the right frame of mind, and a babysitter is the only safe way to do it. And even then I don’t recommend it to anyone because if you have the slightest schizophrenia, it maxes it out for awhile, days, months, there’s even people who never leave the psychiatric ward once it happens.

You were always the main Horror Narrator who TRULY DESERVED to reach 1 Million subs over the past few years and you finally did it! You are a true "Storyteller" Joel and that is a very rare thing to come across! Yes, there’s a handful good "narrators" in this genre but your style is totally different in my opinion. @@daviswall3319 - Hey! I totally understand and am so sorry if it sounded like I think badly, in any way, of those who sleep to Joel’s videos! I have a handful of horror narrators that I listen to all night long, every night. I even finally forked out the money for a good pair of wireless headphones (AirPods fall out in the night and don’t hold a very long charge…). I just go to their "Playlists" and then pick one that has a lot of longer videos, then hit the "shuffle" button and viola! ..the stories play one after another, all night long without any ads. If there is a rare ad, it’s usually the kind you can’t skip that lasts for like 5-10 seconds. Just last night I noticed that I could pick some of Joel’s really long compilations (4-5 hours long) and they have ZERO ads! OK, I’m stopping Story #1 at 6:53 which is pretty early. SO FAR… I don’t think it was anyone’s business why Henry Crow was back in town ten years later. Then, when the Sheriff actually looked into Henry’s records which I’m guessing was mostly his military records… just because he remembered Henry mentioning he was going to an Army recruiting office, was just plain wrong. I think that people, even a Sheriff, shouldn’t be able to just pull a private civilian’s military records because they feel like it. It seems like all of the people in that little town really hated Henry’s father which didn’t have anything to do with Henry. I’m looking forward to seeing what Henry ends up doing b/c the story has already started painting him in a bad light… EDIT: Well, that story actually had a really good ending! I’m glad the Sheriff’s Office wasn’t the one instigating Henry Crow. I think the posse that went onto Henry’s property looking to kill him AND then killed one deputy in cold blood and nearly a second, got what they deserved! If it wasn’t for Henry semi protecting the MC’s father and telling him to take the wounded deputy to the hospital, there would have been two or even more dead deputies! Henry Crow did 100 times more for his country than that whole posse did all put together!
@AngelaVEdwards Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I couldn't believe my ears when I heard in the story that Henry had been awarded TWO silver stars and THREE purple hearts and from that they deduced he was a "killing machine". These are medals of valor, not "killing machine".

That lathe story reminds me of a story I was told about my grandfather. He was the kind of guy who owned any power tool you could get in the 70s and 80s and did whatever home improvement and woodwork hobby jobs he could get his hands on. He even built their own house in ‘79 with his brother and my dad. The one tool he didn’t own was a lathe. He had owned one for about a month for woodwork when one day the blade came loose and launched past his head and lodged itself in the drywall across the garage. After that he refused to use it and got rid of it soon after.

I was grown before I realized what a dangerous place my Dad worked in. He never talked about it when I was young and he would never take me there. He retired at 58. I was so glad. It still got him. Asbestos. Cancer only two years later. Not fair. He deserved a long retirement. He was a great Dad.💙🙏

I don’t have a mental illness and I know what’s real and what’s not, but I can experience these things while another part of me watched, like “ooh shiny” or it’s a TV show. It’s only rarely scared me. I’ve described various stuff with people who’ve tripped and they’re all like “that’s weirder than what I got with drugs.” Hence why I’m never going to try the stuff; I’d no doubt try to flying to the moon or deciding I was fireproof or something.

Is/was Henry Crow a real person? If so he's a freaking badass.
@josiegipson90 Жыл бұрын
Couple things. The first story was a great story. Love old law enforcement stories. One thing tho, he speaks as if Henry Crowe has passed away, saying he wonders how the end of Henry's story went and betting he spent his final days away from everyone. Based on some dates in the story ol' Henry would be around 80. So, he could still be alive. Unless his lifestyle choices, health, or Covid caught up to him. But we don't know, so I'm gonna hope Henry is still kickin'. The other thing. The adoption story. The way she was treated pisses me off. She was the one given up for adoption. She doesn't own any explanation to the biological siblings her mother decided to keep. That brother, Sam (I believe was his name) was frigging crazy. Way too jealous for an adult. Completely unhinged. Also, I'm pretty sure to get dna from a hair it has to have the root still attached. That's what they say on all those true crime shows on discovery plus. I doubt he was able to get a hair with an intact root from the shower. I can't say for sure. Also, unless the females have different hair color knowing whose hair it is would be difficult. I would've cut ties with that hot mess of a family too and be glad I didn't have to grow up in it. The stepfather's special needs sister doesnt need to be around Sam either. Pretty sure he didn't just decide to go crazy and get violent because long lost sister showed up. He's probably been like that.
