Either these people are making it up, or they’re just plain dumb. I don’t care how much a stranger apologizes, or how much of “good person” they are, etc. If someone comes at me with malicious intent, that person getting charged and sent to jail. I know some people don’t like conflict, and that’s understandable, but they got to think about it this way: If they do it you, they’re gonna do it to somebody else, and the outcome could be a lot worse. You’re not just saving your life, but someone’s future life.

@Max Smith Actually, I’m a retired Army veteran and a Lawyer. So I’ve definitely seen some 💩. Waving/Brandishing a knife in someone’s face, is actually a crime. Under California Penal Code Section 417, that is considered a felony and/or a misdemeanor. Punishable by a minimum of 30 days and Max of 6 months in jail. You’re lucky your brother didn’t press charges. Running away from a situation is a smart thing, but not trying to press charges is just plain dumb. Because more than likely that person can and most likely will do something worse, to someone else.

I'm a landlord - but my tenants have highest level of privacy, more than a Swiss account. For me, I count it as like they OWN their unit for a block of time their rent pays for. I have no right to disturb them, be nosy of what they do, intrude or anything else in those regards. I give good notice if I need to come in to do work, too. You either respect people's lives or don't go into business.

I’m from Portland and I can guarantee that it would’ve been a big news story, and it wasn’t. Often fires that don’t kill anyone take up most of the local news when they occur, so one killing 12 would’ve been everywhere. Especially during the BLM protests everything done by protestors was highly scrutinized. If there was a fire even thought to have been related to the BLM movement it would’ve made national news.

I miss living in an apartment of my own, keeping house by myself and living my own life, even if it was my parents' money I was spending instead of making my own when I was in graduate school. Yep! We had one that way for over five years! My husband ended up just fixing most sh*t himself, as he knew WTF he was doing.. our whole hall ceiling collapsed from a water leak landlord knew about for weeks. We ended up cleaning the nasty stuff out and hubby bought wood, plaster, paint, everything, and fixed it. Landlord took *$50!* Off the following month rent. 🤬
