Hearing that Katrina story actually made me tear up. I was also on the bad side of the Gulf Coast. We got a wave higher than our house that destroyed everything in sight. My family and I evacuated mere HOURS before it hit. I didn't think we'd make it to, ironically, Mobile, AL. When we came back, the emergency workers were checking every place of residence for survivors. They would spray paint a huge X on the house or door or anywhere they could. Each space had a number and a code. If you saw anything other than a 0... that meant there was a body or bodies in there. The number was how many were dead inside. It was so surreal. That image is burned into my memory forever. Edits: my horrible grammar before I sleep

Any Katrina story gets me since I live and grew up in New Orleans. I ended up leaving a few hours before Katrina hit and only making it a few hours out of New Orleans but it was far enough. I didn't end up getting back to the city for another 4 months and now I work for NOPD, and anytime we hear a storm coming a lot of older officers talk about Katrina and how we can't leave.
@erikaalvarez68383 жыл бұрын
This story also mad me cry... I live in Houston and we hosted many families and our high school hosted students and they told of such horrors they went through. Before they came we were instructed of what kind of things to not talk about or ask, but it didn't matter. The new Orleans students told us everything. So heart breaking. I don't think Houston truly understood the despair until Harvey hit though. I empathize even more with Katrina survivors now.

And how thankful they both are to the officer to have not just done the bare minimum is so good to see since it shows that it has gotten better for the couple and shows that the lives of us who can’t control these thoughts really matter to some people. Crying with righteous anger on this last story.. It's not even over yet. God bless you public servants. I've always wanted to be one of you but I'm a tall and very petite 111 lb white female. I have the guts, the drive, handgun training, knowledge of law and procedures, years of experience in dealing with all types of individuals (serving/bartending/sales.. and trust me.. you'll only understand if you have personally babysat drunken people. Being a 100 lb female and squaring off with a 200+ lb, emotionally compromised intoxicated male who just reached his breaking point and decided to chunk a glass across the bar. You cannot hesitate or show fear. Ever.) I feel like I posess the mental/emotional fortitude... But physically I am so incredibly limited. I couldn't pry an arm off a puppy being held by a regular guy, much less a murderous iced out guy. I can't do one pull-up. . I suppose it was never up to me in the first place. Loving this channel. On the Halloween one. I remember as a child one year for Halloween I seen this guy I didn’t know his costume but I do remember his hands scared the crap out of me. They where white with the vain glowing. I don’t know why it scared me so much to this day.

I feel like as humans we have an inherent fear of things like this, like stuff out of the "uncanny valley" ya know?

6 months for hurting innocent animals. How come it's always kids n animals these scumbags get light sentences when they commit such horrific crimes. Yet rob a bank get 20 years. Ffs

I'm a big fun of your stories I listen to them every night but I'm disappointed . haven't listened to anything good.. Could we have more content like "the chanting in the woods" it was the best thing ever

That last one, due that's when you don't pull away, you punch the bastard int he face, that'll get their attention! We are social animals, we punch someone back when they punch us. Would have gotten his attention and pull him out of the moment.
