Thank u for your bravery concerning this most intimate subject matter. Prayers up for every one. Stay healthy, strong and safe.....I accidentally pleasantly found your site. I currently am a stage 4colon cancer patient. I' m sorry I should' not say "accidentally". I have been thinking about the other surgical procedures colon caner patients may have to undergo. Sorry so long winded. I am so glad u r here, just in case I may need the much needed info. and positive spirit brought forth from u. Thank u again. Nothing is "accidental"....

I recently found your IBD videos following my Google search of all things ileostomy... Thank you for normalizing my "new normal" and sharing your life with the world. While I'm 12 inches on this side of a barbie butt that I hope I never need to experience, I've often wondered if GI surgeries can create phantom pain like limb amputations can... there is simply no need for the sense of GI urgency felt at times. Just the ponderings of this occupational therapist and ostimate. It's fun to tag along with your wedding venue progress and green thumb. Your wedding will be so beautiful! So exciting!

Maggie, I want to tell you and everyone about a tip that I do that helps tremendously with getting an extra day or two from a wafer annndddd helps out with holding the wafer solidly intact when it gets wet in the shower (I don't double bag) and helps a little with full balloon load. (as you experienced.) What I do is, right when I get the bag on, I put 3m Micropore (blue text inside roll) 1" wide tape all the way around the wafer sealing the outside edge. in other words... 6 - 3" strips only covering the outside edge of the wafer. half on the wafer, half covering the skin. the tape is porous and lets the skin breath!! water does not get to the wafer glue. It has been so successful with me that I will not go without it anytime. even sweaty, the tape still holds great. my other comment is that I have only had a few situations in the night after eating gassy prone foods. Only one time in 3 years I rolled over and popped the bag off. Keep up the great videos.

I surely enjoy your videos Maggie. I do not have an Ostomy but I suffer from UC since 1997. Trying the Humira now to see if it will help. I’m trying to be patient with it. I’ve been on Remicade too but that only worked for a very short time. Your wedding venue is going to be so nice! I cannot wait to see the finished product! It’s got to be hard with managing your GI issues etc. You keep smiling through it all. I try to do the same.....the wedding clock is ticking! So much to do but I think you will get it done!

I sooo love the way you do your eyes! So natural! I brings out your beautiful blue eyes :) I love your earrings too...they kinda look like petals. You're a flower!! You might want to consider a water proof cover on the cushions, then a regular cover over it all for looks. I wish I could be more help, but having had babies with blow-out diapers, I can't sort of identify. Do they have ostomy bags for overnight? I'm ignorant of this, just throwing ideas out there. Love you sweetie!

Find out what days your local towns have trash day and drive around them because you might be able to find mismatched chairs. Taco Stacks on you tube is always finding them but he has trouble selling them at local flea markets. Local flea markets would be a great place to look too. It would help to have a truck to haul them. I can't wait to see the barn finished and decorated.

Leaks. Yeah. Had one yesterday. I didn’t even realize until I was getting ready for bed, just a tad itchy at the bottom of it and then I finally pulled off one barrier extender and saw leak. Argh. And when I changed it I saw it leaked all over my skin under but my ostomy wasn’t wet at all and it was a Hollister with the afabric barrier. Ostomies are so not glamorous.

I get bad pain in that area - not as a result of IBD, but from endometriosis doing a number on my rectum and pelvis (among other things). Sometimes it feels like I have a tree branch impaled where the sun doesn't shine, it's pretty awful. The trouble is without even having organs, there are still nerves and muscles, and that can be enough to cause these horrible pains, as can spasms/cramps in or dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles. It's horrible, and it can feel unbearably like I have to go to the bathroom even when I don't. No fun, so I sympathise with you and Maggie (and anyone else having that kind of pain).

@@gaylelizabeth Honestly, I am on super strong pain meds, and even those don't stop it. Sometimes heat helps, but other times I just have to dose up and wait for it to pass. I wish that I had an answer, but unfortunately, it's just something that I have to deal with. Sorry that I couldn't offer you any real tips.
@gaylelizabeth2 жыл бұрын
@@JustAnotherBuckyLover , the only pain meds I can get right now is one that doesn’t really help but it’s because I’m on anti anxiety medication. I spend most of my time laying down because I can’t walk or stand very long at all. This all started with sepsis from a simple hemorrhoid banding procedure two and a half years ago. I agree with you it’s unbearable ~ especially the pressure and feeling that impaled feeling which right now is just about 24/7. I almost died in march because I hemorrhaged after they had to redo my stoma because of necrosis which I later found out was due to loss of blood supply to begin with, once they did the redo , that’s when I hemorrhaged needed blood transfusions and icu. I’m trying to get well to get back to my children and grandchildren in MD. I’m in Arizona. The picture you see was me two years before my sepsis. I wish you the very best. I truly understand and if you ever want to chat , Let’s !

Maggie, I think it's time that you get some cloth bed pads, and I don't mean chux. If they are picking up most of the stuff, maybe it won't spread so much.
@LetsTalkIBD4 жыл бұрын
We have a mattress protector:) still not happening enough for that move yet!
@849534 жыл бұрын
@@LetsTalkIBD I wasn't talking mattress protector like the ones you cover the the whole mattress, but the fabric bed pads with the waterproof lining that hospitals use. Maybe this is just semantics. I've also worked in hospitals but not in nursung and have always heard them referred to as bed pads, and the disposable version of that as chux.
