We need more people like the Carters. President and Mrs. Carter returned to their hometown after his term in office was complete, to live in the same modest home they lived in previously (the last previous president to do so was Harry Truman). They’ve spent their golden years giving back to the community. Their kids seemingly have not tried to capitalize on dad’s fame in order to line their pockets, and they’ve stayed out of the spotlight. They have set a fine example for others to follow.

Carter was the first president that I voted for, and there isn't a day that goes by that makes me more prouud of votingn for him over Ronald Reagan who was a horrible president, without the morals and ethics of Jimmy Carter. RIP to one of the most intelligent, kind and loving first ladies ever in Rosalynn Carter, champion of mental health issues and who worked side by side with Pres. Carter on Habitat for Humanity, one of the most worthwile things any president has championed. Love the Carters as if they were family. I already miss Rosalynn, and Pres. These dozen minutes with Amy Carter and four with her mom show how genuinely wonderful Rosalynn Carter was both as a public figure and as a parent. That combination was just as hard back then as it is today. It's also clear why Amy is there from the smile on her face when looking at Dave and from the timing of her laughter at his jokes and the joy in Rosalynn's voice when she says Amy is Letterman's number-one-fan.

I wish DL could’ve interviewed her a bit longer because she started out so shyly and was getting more comfortable at the end. When Mrs. Carter said she’d had a long life, regarding the finishing up of her autobiography, she probably never imagined herself living another 42 years to 96. She was a dear lady. RIP MRS ROSALYNN CARTER. The Carters were and are very decent people. Although Jimmy Carter was an ineffective president. He is of high moral character and a selfless human being. That's more important than 4 years of a person's life.

SO well said 👏🏻 🙌🏻 Married 77 years, the Carters epitomized the true meaning of "public service" over a period of 60 years, whether it was in politics or the private sector. May Rosalynn rest in Paradise, and deepest condolences to Jimmy and the rest of his family. 🙏🏻💛❤️

Jimmy Carter was too moral and honest to be president. Americans love voting for horrible human beings

Tell That to the 50+ hostages held 444 days under Iranian control, until he got them back home, suffering the "appearance" of an ineffective Administration. The Iranians resented him so very much that they would only release these prisoners the 1st day of former President Reagan's term ... as a "special" slight to Carter. So, Reagan? gets the credit? After All these years, one would Think history would be more Complete in the telling.

@@KathleenPriem-xl7lp you obviously didn't pay attention, I did remark that he was, for the most part, an ineffective president!

@@KathleenPriem-xl7lp You're correct, it was all part of the "October Surprise" that Bu$h 41 (as the G0P VP nominee in the fall of '80) helped engineer. Carter was close to negotiating the hostages' release by unfreezing Iranian assets held in US banks. Bu$h, representing the Reagan team, took it a step further by promising Iran weapons (to be used in their war against Iraq) that would be secretly funneled through Israel, in exchange for Iran delaying the hostages' release until after Reagan was sworn in. This not only ensured that Carter wouldn't be able to get the hostages freed before the November election - essentially guaranteeing Reagan's victory - but it set the stage for the Iran-Contra affair a number of years later. Despicable, CLASSIC Repub dirty tricks 🤬😩😡
