My late grandfather was a "guest" of IJA hospitality when they invaded Malaya and forced him to fix military vehicles - thus making him a collaborator in the eyes of the resistance and my grandmother had to carry both my aunts running away into the dark interiors when they started to bomb the towns - she recounted seeing dead people everywhere and wailing parents crying over lifeless bodies of their children. I have heard enough horrific stories from them to know that the Japanese then and now have never been sorry. Too bad there wasn't a 3rd bomb
