To all the avoidants. I’m sorry, but when you pull away. We have to let you go for good. It hurts too much to have you come and go as you please, breadcrumb, and push as away when things get too close. The best thing we can do is create boundaries and space and influence you to get your healing. You are all amazing people and we want you to be able to enjoy love and not feel trapped by it. It sucks. I have to let go of the girl I absolutely love with all my heart because she can’t let her fears not win… :( I love her but I have to keep her away from me and let her go on her own journey, it’s been too harmful to me.

Ryan, thank you so much for your post on this topic! I'd like to add a little context on my own situation.. It has been over a year since I made the difficult decision to let go of a future with this person who I was with for the better part of four years. Have spent the time since focusing on self, and have finally reached a point where I feel I am thankfully ready to open up again to new people. My follow up question is this; Why do we find ourselves so attracted to Avoidant individuals? I feel in some way I view this type as a kind of puzzle to solve, frustrating yet totally engaging at the same time. Believing that, after all the patience, love, and effort there will be some sort of reward, a prize if you will that we can call dedication. Could we even consider this a valid pursuit? Any tips on choosing a partner for a fulfilling relationship? Thank you again, your advice is invaluable!
