To everyone who's confused by the technique, I personally use this technique, so let me explain it as straight forward as possible for you. Step 4 and 5 are not necessary. Stop at step 3. Focus on the feeling, if it's in your chest, focus on the chest, focus as much as you possibly can on its exact location, coming back to the feeling every time you get side tracked. Be loving towards it, treat it like it's a little 5 year old version of you , your inner child, which is a thich naht hanh technique (beautiful buddhist monk), because it really is a little version of you. Be there for it without wanting to change the feeling and it will subside over time no matter how long it takes. Any disturbing/difficult thoughts that come up, say "thank you buddy/sweetie" and focus back on the feeling. Make sure you remain the adult here, don't get drawn into the child mind, your inner child is relying on you to heal its pain so remain the adult version of you, coming back to the adult you whenever you wander off. Be with your pain (physical and mental) non judgmentally and you will heal.

I’m pretty sure it works both ways. If you’re happy and suddenly hear tragic news or think a sad thought, you will generate the feeling of being sad. And if you’re sad, if you feel good, you will start to get good thoughts. I think the idea is if you’re at a certain vibration (regardless of how you got there), it will continue to attract more thoughts of a similar spectrum of vibration.

Thanks for this video! I tried this technique for some time and I didn't find any relief. Then I tried this: while letting go, relax your body as much as possible. Catch yourself tensing your neck, your face, your forehead... try to relax your body so the emotion can go through you and not get stuck as you tense. This small change helped me a lot!

Oh wow! This is what I did and realizing it’s why I was able to push through emotional baggage from trauma. I sat with what I feel, I unpacked, I charged towards the uncomfortable feelings. I was able to release and transmute that negativity into positivity then let go of it. It feels pretty good when you do let go ❤

Same mate i feel no fear or anger anymore i just feel chill, i keep conecting dots and finding that i make myself crazy all the time now i stop and try to feel and try to let go even before this video the last month has been really hard on me so i started doing meditation reading up on some of my problems and my past traumas the more i read the more knowledge i got the more it seemed unnessesary to hold on to those things and my body let go out of it self. now im in a place a mind set that is completely oposite of what is was the past 22 years because i kept reliving the trauma and pushing it away and i thought c-ptsd was who i was i gave it a body i let it be the story that is my life the more i understood from that the more dumb it seemed and the more i just let go it just went a way ofcourse it's still there but it isn't stopping me anymore from being me, the me that feels comfortable and the me that you can say is the true potential for a person. I hope this makes sense and for the people out there that live with trauma i hope you can connect the dots that give you answers and get you out of the fog which is clouding your eyes, mind and body from the beauty around you.

Very nicely explained and helpful. I like how he keeps it simple and immediate. Non-judgement (creating a story as he says) is a big component to this process. If I feel worse after “letting go,” I know I’ve actually “added to;” and took a step backwards. It’s helpful to actually invite the feelings to come up, (treating them as if they’re scared to make themselves known). This way, we help coax those deeper feelings to the surface by offering a safe environment to be seen. There’s a reason they’ve stayed hidden for so long, which is very likely associated with shame. Judging ourselves for having such feelings will only serve to keep them hidden. Once they come up, allow them to be felt in the body however they present, and just stay with the feeling until it’s run it’s course. This is the part that’s not always easy, but it’s necessary. Stay curious, don’t judge or enter the story and just be with the feeling - without expectation - and almost miraculously, we rid ourselves of the emotion and it’s accompanying baggage.

Don't run away from your bad feelings, accept them , don't resist them, and work through them, it's okey to feel not okey. But whtat's important is to face them and peacefully deal with them, you're a human you're allowed to make mistakes to feel bad, but don't make your bad feeling lasts and don't create a story out of it. Thank you i'm glad i found your channel.

This is great! My first time here and I really enjoyed this video. Dealing with anxiety/OCD can be tough as both instill a lot of unnecessary fear. Even before watching your video, I have instinctively been allowing myself to feel the fear and go through it rather than around it. It took me a long time to figure this out but this method feels much more natural to me than always resisting it as we all know that only makes it more difficult. Your video confirms to me that I'm on the right track! Respect your feelings and emotions, let them be, feel them rather than suppress them, and let them go. Thank you.

My understanding is to not label the feeling because that requires thinking. Just being aware of a negative feeling and allowing it and experiencing it deeply helps to let go of it. I think the book said to just "observe it." I end up heaving big sighs each time I do this. It's as if my body is letting go of them little by little.

This is fantastic! What's help me most, and it says in the book, is to put your attention on the raw sensation in the body, and - do nothing to change it. Which means let it be, just observe it, without getting into the thought narrative. It's really powerful.

Quite well explained and I'm sure this is useful for anyone unaware of letting-go techniques before, and way better than many other explanations you find out there. Having said that, this just seems as a watered-down version of the Sedona method that I was familiar with and that has helped me a lot in the past. The main point being missed here is that you should not limit yourself to just letting go of negative emotions. It's about letting go of all emotions, negative or positive. As they put it in Sedona, approx. as I recall: The positivity is infinite and only comes back stronger and truer after letting it go.

Another tip I would add, focus on SENSATIONS (heartbeat, tightness, tingling, sweating, clenching, etc). Instead of LABELING the sensations an emotion. They aren’t bad or good, they are just sensations in your body. Labeling them as good or bad or just labeling them at all causes resistance

I tortured myself for years trying to get back with an ex. Then one day it hit me like a brick. I saw the truth clear as day. I quit lying to myself and just let it go. I just walked away. You're describing the "Sedona Method". I believe David Hawkins knew Hale Dwoskin of the "Sedona Method". There's a third question to the process. 1. "Could I let this go?" 2. "Would I let this go?" 3. "When?" Look it up.

Good info, and mostly spot on, but one thing….true willingness (which is the KEY!) is not judging our emotions. They all exist for a reason and are not “bad” per se, IF we get “better at feeling” rather than feeling better. The latter can involve suppression, which makes things far worse in the long run. Then there is the element of NLP, neurolinguistic programming, for those who haven’t heard of it. MER (Mental & Emotional Release) is a good book that explains this more in detail, by Dr Matt James. But on the whole, you do a good job of summing things up, Clark!

Amazing explanation!!! I’d like to add some points, when you go to willingness or acceptance your emotions *fear, shame ... etc* in this stage you should observe or watch the sensations that appear in your body when you brought your emotions and it calls the “pain body” .
@martisjonas9190
@martisjonas9190 2 жыл бұрын
could you explain this phrase 'pain body'? I think, when people live quite a long time, sticking to one or two negative emotions, it becomes a part of their life and trying to use method simultaneously appears resistance - why to let go of fear shame or etc, if it has been so long?

I never really tried to ignore the feeling but i thought thinking about the story why i feel the pain was helpful. It isn‘t. Note for me: Make it easier for you to let go by not overthinking why things led to pain and frustration. That‘s how you let go of pain. You can do it💪💪

I think the "yellow" emotions should definitely include Gratitude . I know you didn't list everything but I think Gratitude is a really important one. If you think about it, it's a higher level emotion that you can conjure whenever you want. Everyone has something they are really grateful for. And then be grateful for all the little things you get in life and you will attract more things to be grateful for. 😉

I actually watched your old review on this book and decided to give it a read. It seemed interesting, but this letting go technique appeared a bit elusive to me. It's a good thing you posted this video which I'm about to watch. Hopefully it will shed some light on what it's all about. Thanks a lot!!

Thank you so much for this video Clark! It’s so true that we’re told to suppress or push away negative thoughts when practicing LOA, when it’s actually the total opposite we should be doing; accepting the negative thoughts! Letting yourself realize that it’s all part of life. When we’re going through tough times in life we want things to change as quickly as possible. But forcing change never works. We gotta go through it and that’s the only way out of it. I for one had a tough time trying to avoid negative thoughts because I wanted life to change for the better fast. I’m still working on coming out of those toxic thought patterns and I’m so glad I came across this video 🙌🏻

Thank you for explaining! I loved the "red light - yellow light - green light" idea. I never have thought in this way. One of ways how to "sit with emotions" is actually doing some art. As I studied counseling psychology and art therapy, I realized that this is something superb important what people miss. It is kinda the best kept secret. But art is one of the strongest ways how to work with emotions, sit with them, and to create a new narrative. By art I mean simple images, not the 'fine art" or art in galleries or museums.

THANK YOU so much for this video. I’m about halfway through the letting go book and I was starting to feel frustrated because I feel like he talks about all the different states of emotions but he doesn’t really speak much about the technique. My right brain was craving more information on the technique itself, so I really appreciate you. And I also appreciate you talking a little about the pitfalls of the law of attraction. I’ve felt this way for a long time- and ends up causing a lot of spiritual/ emotional bypassing and guilt and shame. Anyway, thanks again. Now I can listen to the book feeling like I understand the technique a little better& “let go” of my frustration :)

One thing to note emotion are a neutral sensation within us it is how we REACT that turns them into positive or negative. So emotions are neutral and it is easier to create and go forward in your life, if you are working from the higher emotions. Every one has emotions when you let go of you positive or negative connection with emotions you can just flow from feeling to feeling and when you flow you can start to create your life-reality. And breakfast 😋 iam at this time hungry at 6:23 am😊💜 have an amazing day J.K.L.

Our beliefs create our Emotions - simple eg. “I’m not lovable” so that makes you sad anxious 😥 how to change - connect with your ‘Inner child’ where we programmed our beliefs This is the only way to change in my opinion and experience ! It’s also fast track ! ✨😊

It works. My fiancé and I had a pretty bad argument, where both of us were angry. When I did the release method, the thoughts continued for a while, but it’s like I had taken all the “fun” out of them. It’s like my ego mind was trying to climb a smooth mountain after that. After a few minutes, my mind gave up on the thoughts. I watched this process happen within my own head, with a sense of curiosity. The emotion left, and my mind got bored with thinking about the argument. And that was the end of that. We made up, but it felt like we already had done so, even before the apologies happened.

That’s pretty codependent energy & I would address that. Like why do you care about who someone is having sex with if they’re not even with you anymore? Then you’re not even so much attached to the person, as you are the memories connected to the feelings you got from being with that person & those same feelings can be created with someone else, you’re just living in the past.

Good video, highly informative. I'd recommend looking into EFT and guided meditations as another way to let go. Whatever you want to let go of has to be fully accepted first, then it can be set free. I find that EFT (emotional freedom technique) does the best job of accepting difficult realities. Been watching you for a while, Clark; and your videos just keep getting better and better. Keep being you, bud.

sounds like Dr Caroline Leafs studies step 1 gather - involves embracing the thought, habit, or trauma (cutting open with the scalpel) step 2 and 3 (reflect and write) are the processing steps (performing the surgery) steps 4 and 5 (recheck and active reach) are the reconceptualizing steps (closing up and healing)

My favorite method of changing my emotions (or thoughts) is the "Habit" of "being proactive." Once I'd practiced enough I can CHOOSE my thoughts or moods. It eventually becomes very easy. I practice a lot of meditation, use inspirational/motivational video/music, or use the Tony Robbins method of changing my physiology. With enough practice, it can be done instantly. As Covey points out, we are able to CHOOSE our thoughts and reactions. I greatly enjoy your videos!

That helps too. The concept behind letting go , is the less the amount of emotional energy reservoir in the human being the freer you become and feel. The stuff in the blue and green is the absence of emotion.

I lost my mom when I was 13. I haven't felt the same since. I've been in this hole, and no one sees it. My adoptive parents say I have it so easy, that I have no reason to be sad. A part of me is gone, and I don't know how to let it go. I can't let it go. I'm just stuck.
