Desipte Todo's absolute insanity, the bond he has with Yuji is so genuinely sweet and what Yuji needed in the moment to keep going. I don't think anyone else could have helped Yuji in the way Todo did.

Yuji had a selfless hero complex. But his resolve gets broken as he doesn't accept reality. 1st Yaga questions his ideals Then Mahito breaks his complex by killing junpei. Then Sukuna breaks his complex many times especially in season 2. And once again Mahito breaks his complex in this episode by simply saying 'You are me'. Basically Mahito says 'you are not hero. You killl curses just like I killl humans. You use curse energy and I use transfigured humans. Curses and humans are both natural beings born to fight each other. Nobody is wrong here.'

I really like how Yuji isn't rewarded with the usual shounen powerup after losing a loved one (or in this case: several loved ones). As time slows down while Mahito is ready to release Black Flash, you expect Itadori to turn the tables on him and come out more powerful than ever. But instead Yuji’s too broken to defend himself and just gets tossed around like a ragdoll, almost embracing the pain that's being inflicted on him, like he deserves it. Who knows what would have happened if Todo didn’t intervene at the last second. This uncomfortable, unconventional display of human vulnerability really makes this episode special in my eyes.

Todo and Nanami are hands down my favorite characters. One is a menace 100% of the time he's on screen and the other is the perfect mature adult. This season did them so good, the Nanami "your allies number and location" was peak and the Todo black flash with the most diabolical T-pose being thrown through the universe is, Chef's Kiss.

I just wanna say first and foremost, Mahito's VA DELIVERED. Now, onto the analysis. I think it's very fitting that Mahito was the first Black Flash of S2 and first BF from a cursed spirit. He is both learning and fully embracing his nature. He is comfortable with who he is. He is a very young curse, so his potential and room to grow are nearly limitless. Considering that even after all this, Mahito still feels like his soul has another form of evolution that he's so close to reaching. He causes pain, fear, hatred, despair. He is a true curse. I've always loved that speech he gave Yuji during the beatdown. He's doing what he was born to do. Yuji being in the fight is why he can't just transfigure Yuji and Todo and instantly win(due to Sukuna being inside Yuji and touching their souls together is too big of a risk). But it's also providing Mahito the room to grow and evolve. When Mahito claimed that he had more in the tank after his battle with Mechamaru, Kenny's first reaction was to doubt him. But I think this proves that he definitely did. He took a direct hit to his soul from Nobara, suffered a beatdown from someone who could harm his soul for several minutes, got hit by a Black Flash and still has the energy to continue fighting. Yuji, Todo and Mahito have brought out 120% of their potential. And as Mahito said to Yuji in the end, this will be their final chance to curse each other.
