I love how this anime doesn't focus too much on the strong powers, rather the characters' growth and relationships. The main character's powers aren't too ridiculous too. And many of the video shots and style look like they would be scenes in a video game! Either that or your recap and storytelling is just that good :0

@@Snp2024 Okay for one Alicia is actually a lazy coward and definatly not Yumiella's friend. It really cements it since Alicia got PTSD on the dungeon training. There was no "system forcing" Alicia. Yumiella just threw her in the dungeon where Alicia had type advantage and waited at bottom for Alicia to power level and every time Alicia thought she was safe Yumiella threw her right back in until level was strong enough. Alicia actually talked 2 of the losers (Prince actually had come around at this point and wasn't a bad guy) into helping her literally stab Yumiella in the back which would have been death blow except she did have the life protect amulet on because Patrick. Demon Lord comes out and is mirror of Yumiella but he's so old and powerful he doesn't actually have Light weakness so knocks everyone but Yumiella to brink of death(again it's life protect amulets). King and Queen throw Alicia in prison with the idiots and let the rumor out that sadly Saintess took a near fatal wound that's keeping her bedridden and she could succumb to her injuries so she and Prince can't marry at this time(which bit them in the back in another novel). Prince and Yumiella were the only 2 at the awards ceremony.

Rewatching the entire video again because I have to see, I get that recaps are a bit cheesy since anyone can do them, but I just love the way you do them. You add some personality to them, and the way you talk, it is just the perfect thing to have in the background during work or when I’m going to sleep. All 6 stantard magic attributes should be equal, and so should be any additional the writer of the week decides to cram into the pile. And they should all available to every mage, being simply different disciplines of magic that you can specialize in if you want, but are never pigeonholed into. It makes ZERO sense to give them arbitrary power levels or rock paper scizor tactics, especially given the how often magic naturally overlaps between the 6.

If I recall correctly, in the novel, Alicia was supposed to be imprisoned or killed for attacking Yumiella, but I’m sorta glad that they went a different route in the anime even if it was too silly.

I love this show because Yumiella really genuinely struggles in social situations, and in a very relatable way. Plus that scene where she talks about the alternate version of herself to Patrick was incredible and something more regression/villainess stories should do.

I was really hoping Patrick would secretly be the new boss. How I thought this was gonna happen was that Patrick would get like tricked by the demon king to join him so he could get stronger than Amelia and then at the end reveal that he had gotten stronger to prove his love for Amelia and start fighting her. I feel like that would be a cool twist in the story.

Imo, this anime is a rare instance of the adaptation improving on the original by completely changing the ending (and adding foreshadowing for it). In the original web novel, Alicia betrays Yumiella and is killed by the Demon Lord. In the light novel release, Alicia betrays Yumiella and is imprisoned for the rest of her life. The anime introduced a far more interesting reason for Alicia's betrayal and gave everyone a happy ending. I haven't read the manga and I'm kinda interested if they're gonna have a 4th version of the ending or just adapt the light novel.

I really like the LN a lot more than the anime. They changed some of the characters personalities for some reason and the ending (anime ends after the after the first book - I'm guessing to tie it up at the end) Spoilers - In the LN the "hero" and the other guys (except the prince) actually tries to kill her before fighting the demon lord because they couldnt get over her being so powerful and having black hair, and are later put into house arrest (indefinitely - in the LN Alicia grinded for a little bit but the two stooges kept keeping her away from actual battles and quests that by the time they tried to kill the MC they were only lvl 40 each ). The prince is significantly nicer (actually took time to train on his own) and eventually apologizes/defends the mc when the three idiots try to kill her.

After having watched countless anime in the last 5 years, I can comfortably say that some anime production teams are really thoughtful, well experienced, know their target audience and they really do understand their genre. They can make any type of anime and make it popular in no time. But many anime makers are copy cats, they don’t know anything about anime, they either just try copying another popular series but with their half baked understanding or they just borrow different concepts from various popular anime and try cook them up together as their own, again with their half baked understanding of how some anime are so popular and well received? These latter ones appear promising in the beginning but after a few episodes they just become tasteless and boring to watch. That’s why finding the right anime is a non stop digging process, u literally have to survive tons of bad anime, just to find the goldmine of the greatest ones. This one is entering that “boring” zone right now, episode 4 onwards.
