I wish I'd found your channel sooner. I used to have a GSD/Terueren mix and I could have given her so much more freedom when she became an adult. She was very obedient when she was a puppy and a young dog. I could have her off leash in the woods and she'd stay when the path was divided, when she didn't know what direction to choose and look at me and I just had to nod and look in the direction I wanted her to go and she did. That silent communication was fantastic. However, when she became an adult, she listened to me when there wasn't any distraction and I had to keep her on a leash. It was a sad situation, I wanted her to be able to listen to me, even when she was off leash. I wish I'd dare to use an e-collar, they're not leagal in my country. She would have been a happier dog.

Oh my gosh, I feel like I'm back in school at 61! I'm taking notes, watching everything you do. I have a malinois/ german shepard girl, 12 weeks old. I am home a lot by myself till my husband gets home from work at 5 and want to feel a little safe. I hope she will let me know when someone is around. We live on 6 acres in the western mountains of Maine so we have room to play. I am going to have her trained on an e-collar by some trainers around here, K9 trainers. I have to wait till she is 5 months, so I was told. I wish we were by you, you are wonderful. Thank you for all your help. Mary from Maine. Have a wonderful day!

When I was a first time dog owner I used to take my totally friendly happy dog to the dog park. She got attacked and she became aggressive and on edge. She also contracted Parvo!! I never took my dogs there again. I do take my dog to the lake to swim but there aren't much dogs there so I feel safe, and the people that are I have become friends with from seeing them there so so often.

The place is amazing! Axel is a 18 week old Czech working GSD who does great with kennel but needed the place command. Bought the bed and started placing him. Within 20 minutes he gets it, my wife gets it. Amazing! Keep up the good work. I’ll buy some merch to support you!

I get so much random GREAT info from your videos! My neighbor feeds kibble 2x daily. I feed raw (balanced, dog nutritionist assisted/approved) because my breeder insisted, lol (he also insisted I not neuter until at least 18 months--at 2.5 years old, he still has his cojones, abd no plans to remove). My neighbor was horrified when I told her my GSD gets 1 main meal daily (lots of training treats and/or at least one long chew or "lick" treat at some point in day), but was worried she was doing something "wrong" with 2x daily kibble feeding. And frankly, only knowing "raw", I didn't know "kibble kids" are better off 2x a day. I just told her 2x daily better with kibble based on this video. Thanks!! My GSD is PERFECT for me. 1st time GSD owner (1st time as an adult owning a dog); before I get my next dog (mist likely another GSD, unless I go in totally different direction & consider an Aussie Cattle Dog or "Aussie (Californian) Shepherd"), I will watch EVERY SINGLE VIDEO you've put out. I learn so much. And appreciate these videos so much. I feel a certain level of guilt because I constantly learn better ways of doing things than what I did with my boy as a puppy. Water under the bridge. If only I knew THEN what you've taught me NOW. But it's okay, he's still the GREATEST dog for me. And I can still change some of the way we do things, based on what I learn from your videos. Thanks for the BEST information. You are #1!!!!!!!

Getting a mal for protection - when a dog is “placed” are they relaxed or waiting anxiously for another command? So if I have company over etc for an appreciative amount of time; that is.

Can really see the ribs prominently, is this pup a bit skinny? Maybe I finally caught up my puppy w the right amount of food, he was looking so thin in those growth spurts at first, plus my guy had coccidiosis first, then got giardia from my neighborhood somehow. My pup loves the crate, every meal training I always, every single time save the last sizeable jackpot and shake it and say “let’s do your favorite part..crate!” and put the food in the crate, but of course by now many weeks later, he’s already jumped in the crate when I say “let’s do yo…”. Last night at training, I was struck again by how subtle and exacting every motion must be, and how just like practicing a musical instrument if you practice incorrectly, you ingrain a bad habit. You can’t just “unlearn” a bad habit alone, only replace it with a good habit, or the correct way. My trainer nailed me on my hand position on my initial training of the formal heel, I was basically training him to have his eyes down by my (food reward) hand position (and posture.) Good trainers..worth their weight in..well, maybe not gold, but, something really valuable. They also refit my prong collar to be tighter as I had it too loose. So..many.. details!
