I agree that sometimes gel is better to use quality brands, but I’m pretty sure mica is mica. I got 50 something colors for like $9. I love Susie and love to support her but don’t feel like you have to pay a lot for mica.

Oh my gosh Suzie! Long time watcher here, with a suggestion: have you tried using a cosmetics sponge to tap mica powder onto half-cured gel topcoat while it's still tacky? This is similar to a technique I use for making shimmer earrings from laser cut wood pieces that my dad makes for me, and it works _wonderfully,_ especially with holographic micas. Add a clear topcoat and it produces dazzling depth that just painting the pieces couldn't achieve. Cheers!

I've used mica powders in the past with builder and hybrid gels and the colours always turn out gorgeous, very rich and like no nail polish or ready made coloured nail product I've used in the past. Even with colours i'm not usually all that fond of like yellows and greens turn out absolutely stunning. Best thing is very little goes a long way and you can make it go from transparent jelly type colours to solid opaque ones. A single 5g pot will literally last for years if your buying for yourself, for a nail tech depends on your customers but I'd say at least 6month to a year of constant use. And that's without mixing in glitters and\or mylars.

Honestly just been experimenting like mad after seeing a vidder on KZbin using mica with hard gels to make custom gels and loved what I saw. Since then I've just been trying out different mixes seeing what gel brands work best for what I want and having a blast doing it. Since I'm an amateur and only doing it for myself I dont worry about the few disasters I've had experimenting. Fyi as you probably know hybrid gel is a lot more effort to mix than builder gels as its thicker and trying to mix a pre coloured hybrid gel with mica is iffy or at least my attempt with that went weird, won't be doing that again but the trying or watching someone else try is a great way to relax and have fun and a wonderful way to get your creativity flowing. Watching your vids are always informative and inspiring and I love seeing what you come up with next.

I use it in builder gel, base coat, acrylic and dipping powder. Really fine layers so it doesn't peel from the side.. I dry and buff in-between coats to get it perfectly flat..just did some grinch and super mario nails with chameleon mica 🤩

Ya Gels have come along way Hard Gel, Builder Gel & Sculpting Gel is all the same. Soft Gels have no strength they are just colours?

Hello love your advice and teaching methods. I have a question, is there a way to add color to hybrid gel ? For example I want my pink acrylgel to have a slight violet hue. Is there anything I can add to it? A drop of violet gel polish with a drop of alcohol? I really want to figure out the best way. Thank you for all you do for us!

Yes you can add that however I’d be more likely to add the alcohol than the gel polish. Whatever you add make sure it’s not more than 5%

Would it work better using colored acrylic powder added to the acrylgel 🤔 now I need to see you making the first ever video of how to change the color of your acrylgel. Like you did with the liquid monomer 🥳 that was cool.
