Lovely looking pit. 8mm inner and outer on the fire box!! Is that really necessary especially when you've put ceramic insulation between them, if you cut the outer down to 6mm it would save on weight and cost (just my thought). Hardware on the doors looks great. Lovely build👍

The 8mm outer isn't strictly necessary, but there is a heck of a lot of weight placed on the firebox shell as the pit is rear-heavy (at the base of the rear axle and the wrap around hinges for the ~90kg insulated firebox door) - so better to be safe than sorry! In terms of costs, as we generally produce low-ish volume batches at a time, utilising as much of one material thickness as possible helps us to take advantage of volume discounts on material purchasing. Hope that helps a bit with the thought process.
