I lived in Freeport, Texas for a year. During that time I began noticing the trains leaving Dow Chemical Company. I would count the tanker cars and noted the chemical cards on each car. Every day train after train left Freeport with well over a 100 cars of poisonous, toxic, corrosive, or combinations of each liquid left the yards. The contents smell would infest my vehicle and the students in the school bus never complained. Said they live in Freeport and just got use to the smell permeating the town. If you have ever seen a tanker truck you might notice a slight movement when the truck starts out or is coming to a stop. Liquid moves like waves in the ocean. Back and forth putting pressure on the body of the driver of the truck. Now consider the movements of a train, curves, breaking and accelerating. Now add 150 cars all doing this at the same time. I won't even talk about the breaking systems on each car...same used one a hundred years ago. Just saying...corporate greed.

Wow I was in the middle of typing my comment when I saw yours...quick story you may be interested in, in 1992 in Sarnia Ontario, the Dow plant there was looking at shutting down a number of facilities (including the one I worked in), the plan was that the remaining facilities would operate, but where necessary, the feed supplies lost from the shutdown units would be replaced by materials shipped by railcar from Dow in Freeport; now, in an effort to keep our facilities running, I dug up a study Dow had done previously showing why shipping some of these materials from Texas to Ontario by rail was a significant increase in risk to US communities along the route, and should be avoided. We sent the study up the chain of command....and...crickets..... our facilities were shut down anyways. the bottom line is what companies are (and inevitably have to be?) all about.

DeSantis banning a book written by a person who details the racism he has endured, is compounding that racism by denying the author his voice, his place in history, and his ability to Sell his book, which also impacts the company which publishes his book. My first reaction - how in holy hell are there not appropriate and enforces train safety laws in place already? The only answer is greed (on the part of the railway owners), and corruption (on the part of government). It turns my stomach and deeply saddens me when an avoidable and predictable disaster happens. You're absolutely right! Why worry about an entertainment show instead of actually doing their jobs and handling the real crime. It's pitiful how much they go after drag shows, and the LGBT people instead of the criminals that cause so much harm in our country. People who I remember dressed in women's clothing and makeup to entertain, Flip Wilson, Milton Berle, Red Skeleton, they were hilarious! Imagine there were many more, just can't remember right now. But when we had fun variety, entertainment shows, they were always funny, respectful, and happy to do whatever it took to get laughs. Wonder if I Love Lucy had men dressed up as women, know the women did it. So what is the big deal with this? Think it's their own scared, little boy fears of their own bodies. I loved going to a drag show, had a fantastic time and laughed all night. I'm a woman and don't have any desire to be anything else but don't get my panties in a bunch over it. They should be left alone. Loved your Nashville, In. Show!! It was awesome, fantastic and full of laughter. Thank you for giving us a fun time. Watch Randy Rainbow sometime, he's really funny.

@Lewis Black, to be honest, (and I don't want you to take this the wrong way), I knew it was only a matter of time before you choked your rubber chicken to death, you can only choke your chicken just one so many times. Being on the road, touring and performing so much each year, can get lonely, and after this many decades in comedy, even the closest of friends and performers find their act strained by the stress. At first, I thought the rubber chicken may have defected to Russia, was now performing solo under the stage name Chicken Kiev, or as is generally known in Russian and Ukrainian cuisines and comedy, côtelette de volaille, or even suprême de volaille à la Kiev, since he always did have a flair for the dramatic. I pictured him entertaining the troops in Ukraine or at the front on tour. That made no sense though, even for a rubber chicken, to charge floppy headlong into such a war zone. But then I realized that like many performing rubber chickens, the fame, fortune, and his alcohol and drug problems had likely gotten the best of him. We are all glad to know though that he is receiving the best of treatment at the Betty Crocker Ford Center, and wish him the speediest of recoveries as he dries out, he had been staying marinated for far too many years out on the road.

Skokie ( / ˈskoʊki /; formerly Niles Center) is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States, neighboring the City of Chicago's northern border. Its population, according to the 2020 census, was 67,824. [3] Skokie lies approximately 15 miles (24 km) north of Chicago's downtown Loop. Its name comes from a Potawatomi word for "marsh." [4] Wow, you've really hit the big time Lewis, don't go getting a huge ego on us! Of course our local town here in South Boston, Virginia, only boasts an estimated population of 7,993 people, so those city slickers there in Skokie, Illinois, probably think they are hot stuff walking around in shoes, with their own original teeth. I bet they don't know a dang thing about chewing tobacco though, or have a two-seater his and hers outhouse. You should come on down here and perform at our local theater and cultural arts center located at The Prizery, because if there is one thing I know our town will appreciate, it is a liberal Jew comedian from the big city, and we can share with you the finer things in life like shooting a possum on your front porch at night, and preparing such haute cuisine. (Just a little culinary secret: you want to marinate that possum overnight, before you add it to the stew!) Also, while you are here, we can enlighten you as to the ways and rich tradition of NASCAR, the fine technique of driving a race car in circles at high speed for hundreds of miles around a speedway. I know it is a lot to take in, but after Skokie, I'm sure you'll be able to handle the fast pace, and delightful charm and amenities our town has to offer.

My guess to all of you people who think you can put ketchup on a hotdog you have a been harassed like the people harassed you in the city of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. I don’t know who started this shit it’s been around for long as I can remember. But you take your hot dog you got your steamed Rosen poppyseed bun I just got mustard tomatoes, onions, then you “drag through the garden“ and finish it with celery salt. And that is a Chicago style hotdog and God help you if you try to order it any other way. I could be starving to death, and I would never eat a hotdog not because of the strange and archaic rules of living in the city of Chicago, and wanting a hot dog, I just don’t like them. And I don’t like ketchup either, which is neither here nor there since I’m not putting it on a hotdog I’m not going to eat, but people in Chicago. Have this idea we let them have it, so be prepared for it if you order a hotdog Chicago style or god for bed ask for ketchup
