I took a couple of environmental studies courses in high school, lol, because I thought it would be the easiest science to take. That was in the early seventies. Everything we were taught about the environment has been happening like it was penciled in on a calendar. Guess who knew about climate change before most people? The gd fossil fuel industry.

It doesn’t happen as they planned it would. They keep moving the goal posts. Al gore said that snow would be gone by 2015. Remember the whole in the ozone layer from the 90’s? Guess what, it’s fixed itself amongst some of the most carbon being pushed in to the atmosphere. It used to be global warming then global cooling then back and forth and finally settled on climate change because the climate changes daily. The lies they impose on ignorant people to think humans can impact the world enough to help or hurt it is fooled. The science that suggest humans can impact climate change is political not scientific. If there is doubt let it be tested but when the independent scientist (not funded by gov’t) that don’t have an agenda are censored it shows the same ideology that censored Hunter Biden and Ashley Biden’s controversial evidence. Facts don’t care about your feelings and your feelings blind your ability to comprehend science not “the” science.

I had to stop watching half-way through the video. I agree so hard I couldn't laugh, and it just depressed me. I hate that this is material. I hate that we live in such a parody of existence that comedy loses impact because it's just real now. Keep doing this, but I wish I could laugh about it. Can we as a species maybe NOT make everything a political statement and just listen to the people WHO DEDICATED YEARS OF THEIR LIFE TO RESEARCHING THIS S***?! Then again, maybe this is just how it's meant to be. Maybe we're just fulfilling natural selection by ending the environment, and then we can all be dead sooner rather than later, and we never have to worry about bullshit like this again. Yes, let's exacerbate this. Let's just be dead now. There's a whole universe beyond Earth, it's not gonna matter if one planet covered in life dies. Statistical anomaly that it is, we can just roll over and sapient life in our little corner can vanish. Humans are ugly anyway. Hmm... Think if we got a political figure to go all out Captain Planet villain in their campaign spiel, maybe someone will get a clue? Like "Vote for me! I'll remove environmental sanctions so we can destroy the planet faster! More money for the billionaires! With me in power, no more worries about illegal dumping! It's just dumping now!"

@@GeistInTheMachine One of the most depressing things I've read lately is that the solution to the Fermi paradox is that the reason we haven't found sentient life outside of our solar system is that any sentient life that could potentially progress enough to achieve interstellar travel would have self destructed well before they were able to communicate outside of their system. It's inevitable that we will exhaust all of our natural resources and destroy our planet before we will ever progress beyond our primitive state of being. It is sadly the inevitable end of nature. He is absolutely right when he talks about science and how we do research. A researcher wants their answer to be correct we really hope the answer we suggest is correct but it’s not a vanity I wanting to put our name on something we are truly hoping to solve a problem. We look for an answer for an issue that we are profoundly interested in as researchers and we want to answer our problem question it’s literally one of the things we do for a doctoral thesis. It’s almost the first thing you do after writing your name down you come up with a problem statement. Trust me I know I’m a PhD student right now trying to do research on an issue that I am profoundly impacted by mine happens to be unions in America. It’s what would be considered a social science issue but we follow the same guidelines as someone who’s doing pure scientific research. We take the same classes on data gathering we take the same classes on data analysis we use the same tools. We follow the same methods when publishing our research and our research get whacked hard by peer reviews. That’s actually what makes science what it is science it’s the review and critique of others because once you propose a solution to a problem you best bet someone is going to see if that solution works if it does we’re going to test it again if it doesn’t we’re still going to test it again. Some of the most famous theories in history have been tested hundreds of times to look for fallacies in them if we find a theory we know it to be somewhat true but we know it needs more we have no problem saying so. Einstein did when he proposed his general theory of relativity and his theory of relativity yes they are two different things. Even now we admit we don’t understand the total picture of histories we know there’s something more to it but we just don’t know what and we admit it and we continue to propose solutions that have not worked out and we don’t mind because ultimately the researcher is looking to answer the question we don’t care if it’s our name on it we just want the answer so we can research something else next. In essence we just look to add to the body of knowledge because ultimately that’s what has made the human species great it’s adding to a body of knowledge. That’s how we literally learned to make fire and then we passed that knowledge on to others that’s how we literally learned to make handtools and we passed that knowledge on to others that’s how we went from hunter gatherer to a farming community to thousands of years later more industrial and then of course we had a great breakthrough of science in the 16th century the 17th century and the industrial revolution which blew the lid off of everything. It’s when we really started asking questions tracking data doing research that we started to understand the world around us and now we can shape it to some degree. No other species does that there’s a reason why science.

not only do scientists agree that the climate is changing they all agree that climates have always changed as for most of earth's history the planet was much hotter than today with tropical forests at the north & south poles and it's only in the last million years during the ice age that things cooled off and we evolved as a species .. in fact during the ice age there were 4 periods when temperatures warmed, and the glaciers retreated only to get colder again .. the issue is the effect of carbon emissions accelerating the warming as we have emerged from the last colder ice age period .. study geology and find the facts ...

Whether or not there is climate change is NOT at issue. There IS a climate change trend. It is absolutely clear. However, what we ARE arguing about is how much of that change is caused by humanity, how much of an impact we can have on the trending, what exactly we need to do about it, and what kinds of compromises are we willing to make to have an impact on the change.

the thing about climate change in the context of politics is that we should probably embrace the idea that there will be varying ideas about what to do in the face of climate change, but one must acknowledge, regardless of one's political views. Like poverty: it exists, pure and simple. What should be done about it?

Snow in Hawaii: One thing that can happen due to Global warming is the weather might become more erratic. Snow in Hawaii sounds to me like the weather is becoming more erratic. Think about water: if you heat water, some of it becomes gaseous. Water vapor in the sky form clouds. Clouds are often parts of storms. A possible reason they use 'Climate Change' instead of 'Global Warming' is that if the average global temperature changes too far in either direction, it would be a problem. Also, global warming doesn't necessarily mean that everywhere on the planet will get warmer. It is possible that some INDIVIDUAL locations might get colder due to altered weather patterns, even though AVERAGE GLOBAL TEMPERATURES are increasing

Whether or not there is climate change, should not be questioned. The only things that can be argued, is whether or not man is responsible and whether or not we can affect it. It has been happening for as many thousands of years as recorded history, we know. Presumably before, thanks to valcanoes and such.
@glennallen4963 жыл бұрын
"It has been happening for as many thousands of years" Gee, and how do we know that? Surely not because of science or anything, huh? The very same scientific processes that helped determine that we are the cause of the current, *accelerated* climate change, even! You can't pick and choose which science you want to "believe" in. Well, not rationally, anyway.
@32202masterj3 жыл бұрын
@@glennallen496 I didn't say we weren't causing it. I said it could be argued. All we know is co2 is causing it. Now as far as the major cause, that is argued. Is it industry, cattle, coal fire plants, transportation or valcanoes? As you say, we are probably accelerating it. By how much? That is a different question. I do know this, money isn't the answer. In order to slow it down, not stop it. We would have to go back to a hunter gatherer society. No industry, farming or ranching. No transportation, this would kill millions. Food is short now, much less without farming.

The amount of degassing from volcanoes averages between .13 to .44 gigatons per year. Humans create roughly 35 gigatons per year, or between 80 and 270 times the amount of greenhouse gases than volcanoes. If you acknowledge that volcanoes impact the climate (and they absolutely do.) than it is not reasonable to argue that human activity does not impact it as well. Anything can be argued, but when the evidence completely disagrees with your argument, it is ridiculous to do so.

There is no evidence that climate change has ever happened as quickly as it is happening now, excepting after large asteroid impacts. The only difference between now and then is that we humans are burning fossil fuels at ever increasing rates. The reason why the climate is now changing so quickly is pretty clear to those who study such things.

I think Lewis should listen to Dr Patrick Moore, and give all that it a bit of a think ... Between orbital mechanics ( Milankovich Cycles ), and increased greening due to more CO2 to feed more abundant plant life, we are in for some changes for sure. And Florida, well that's mostly a wright off ... But the basis of much science and thinking about climate is looking at the carbon budget of the planet. All the carbon in oil and coal reserves PLUS all the carbon in the carbonaceous rocks (think White Cliffs of Dover) adds up to way more than is in the atmosphere now, or in the near future. We may be heading into a green house system (typical commercial green houses run CO2 at about 5X what is in the atmosphere), but that means some folks moving. Farming in the arctic, sure. New beach front towns and cities, ditto. Will it be pleasant in Wyoming in the winter in 10 years, prolly not. It ain't going to change that fast ...

30 Kilometres form my home are hills that were made during the last Ice Age, the climate changed a bit since then. And 200 kilometres from my home are mountains, in those mountains are fossils of tropical plants and animals, the climate has changed a lot since those mountains were formed. I don't live in the tropics, neither do I live in a frosty region. The climate has changed from the earliest beginning of time till now and it keeps on changeing. The temperature on Earth is the result of how much sunlight there is coming from the Sun. People can't change that. This is very easy to understand, exept for the people in Hollywood. There is a scientist who had to flee his country once. In the old country they wrote an angry book about him: "One hundred reasons why Albert Einstein is wrong!" And the response of Albert Einstein was something like, if I was wrong then one piece of proof would have been enough. 97% of all scientist still can be wrong if one person can prove they are in error.
@vanhetgoor3 жыл бұрын
@@M.Linoge So, all you said was that you are not familiar with Solar Cycle. The big one, the one that causes the ice ages. That's okay, you can't know everything. Einstein taught us many things, a bit about physics but a tremendous wisdom he had and a great cense of humour. He despised people who were unwilling to think for themselves, those who march in crowds. I wonder what the reason was for this. Try to read a book so now and then. Just an FYI: scientists have included the almanac prediction on our climate change due to sun and orbit cycles. And on top of that they are seeing the climate swing even further than the almanac predicts due to the human caused elements in our atmosphere. So sure, the Earth changes without us, and it changes due to us as well. Maybe we should just deal with the natural changes and not cause more ourselves. And even if by some miracle there is no human caused climate change due to CO2 and Methane we put into the air - I still do not want to breath the stuff so we should stop anyway. And even if you are OK with sucking car exhaust, and cow farts, and factory soot yourself - many of the new products we are inventing under the Green Tech umbrella are actually better and cheaper than the old fuel products, so most of us would gladly adopt them anyway. And even if this is all just standard deviation on the almanac prediction of sun and orbit cycles, things are changing due to natural cycles and we need to deal with this change before people suffer and huge losses happen. So no matter if you believe in the science or not, you should still be taking action to protect communities from climate change and also support the move away from fossil fuels.
