What a cool dude he was. Served in the TA as a Para, even started SAS selection until senior officers decided his celebrity status would not be compatible. He was the real deal, we should have seen more of him. Hope he's up there now, still giving grief to Cowley. RIP Lewis 🙏

I'll commit sacrilege by saying Lewis Collins would've been the best Bond of all of them..had the good looks cool and charisma of Connery..the poise of Brosnan the tongue in cheek humour of Moore and the tough gritty realism of Craig..it's mad how little he was used in any major role R.I.P Mr Collins

I certainly have never understood Daniel Craig's success!..He has never expressed right kind of style or charisma( which has always been a intrinsic part of the Bond personalityif he's t playing a tough or questionable character,he's fine& i think would have been far better suited to a Villains role! Imo ( 007 nemesis) But Lewis Collins would have done a fine Job!

Without doubt one of the most charismatic and coolest actors this country has ever had. Completely and totally under used after the brilliant Professionals. There's differing stories why he didn't become the next James Bond from he was too aggressive in the interview or over confident or what ever well that's pretty cool in itself, anyway the producers and makers of James Bond robbed the fans of who I think would of been one of the best James Bonds, what a waste😩😥😥 What a wonderful interview this was he was talking about the professionals being 20 years previous and now in nearly 2016 this interview was 16/17 years ago and we've lost him now where does the time go. I wasn't even a teenager when the professionals started now I've got my eye on retirement😢 very sad.

At least Martin Shaw, had the good manners, to make it up With Lewis Collins, before he passed away. What a tragic waste of Acting Talent, and lovely, down to earth personality. He was an ex TA Paratrooper as well, I think that he even passed “selection” for 23 SAS, but, his TV bosses, put a stop to it. RIP Lewis. Lesson, life is way to short for grudges, ( real, or imagined) and hatred is such a negative emotion. Take Note, James Bolam. Although it’s too late for you. Martin Shaw a serious actor, what a bloody laugh. At best he was mediocre. Bloody ponce with a floor mop on his head. Loved Lewis, he was every girls dream in the late 1970’s. Handsome and charming but tough as well. I wrote to him when he was appearing in a play at Chesterfield because the Sheffield date got cancelled and he sent me a gorgeous signed photograph. RIP Lewis xx 💜

I so agree with you about Martin Shaw. I liked him in his TV shows after the Professionals - Judge John Deed and George Gently. But like so many "actors" in interviews he comes across as a pretentious prat who thinks he's too good for TV. Lewis came across as a lovely bloke and I agree with everyone else who reckons he was the best Bond we never had. RIP Lewis Collins.

Without the chemistry of the three stars The Professionals would not have worked, it would come over as ludicrous. RIP Lewis Collins.

Legend. Professionals, Who Dares Wins and passed SAS selection. His Bond would've been great.

Always loved Bodie and Doyle, I think they were 9/10ths the reason as to why the viewers watched The Professionals.

They wouldn't have Lewis as James Bond but had Timothy Dalton what a joke, Lewis was perfect for the part, and shaw was just a snob,Lewis was far more popular,R.I.P Lewis you are a Legend and thanks for your great performances in the Professionals, i grew up with that show and you were the Man, God Bless.

They filmed a bit of a car chase scene for that late 90's revival series on the trading estate where I worked at the time in Egham Surrey....
