2 ай бұрын
You literally have to be a super athlete to compete at this level. Away from g-force when turning, they feel 5 g’s when braking, so it is literally constant g force on your body at every step. They also need powerful arms to constantly steer as well. What many don’t realize is that the brakes on an F1 car are not like your own road car with a servo that multiples the braking force from your input on the brake pedal. They don’t have this and have to have powerful legs too just to constantly brake hard every few seconds. A quote below from an expert, not my words. ‘On road cars, servo-assisted brake systems multiply the pressure you apply to the master cylinder but the regulations in Formula One demand that the braking force has to be generated by the driver alone. They need very strong legs to do this, but they do get some help from the violence of the braking manoeuvre itself.’

Maybe in very extreme circumstances like the 2 you mention but generally the teams would close that up because it impacts the aero efficiency. The teams spend vast resources trying to eek out fractions worth of efficiency so it'd have to be a legit safety concern to take that hit.

I’m kinda surprise they don’t allow for some sort of suit to be worn as a cooling system that could be included in the driver weight requirements? 🤷♂️
@thespadestable2 ай бұрын
@@braveheart4603 - No. It's a forced air design, which takes advantage of the air that is already flowing against the car. What it does is just move that air in from the front to the driver, then out to the back. The biggest issue is designing something that does not violate the rules of F1, because air passing through be seen as giving the car an aerodynamic advantage.
@milhousevanhoutan92352 ай бұрын
@@hazeleyedsoul3282 That's what I would have suspected too, some kind of cooled water system that plugs into the car and pumps through tubes on their suit. They already exist and are used in some types of racing. Weight shouldn't really be an issue because I imagine such a system would be standardized so each team would have to work around the same standard so it would be fair and equitable. The one thing I can think that would stop it is there's usually a small reservoir of water which under the G forces seen in F1 could become very difficult to manage. For example if the pump breaks those suits become insulating suits real quick and exacerbate the issue, and with the G forces involved it's likely that the pump could end up running dry.

Foolish question.
@philiptownsend402624 күн бұрын
There is more to it than that. If a driver is uncomfortable that takes away from his ability to perform at maximum. All racing teams pay great attention to their driver's comfort, it is vital. I used to do that and our driver got good results.

I agree that a height record is out of the question, but as for a unique ride model, things become tricky, I'd love to ideally see a B&M surf coaster as it would probably still be first outside the US and would be fitting, since Blackpool is by the sea.
@lucas1825123 ай бұрын
There SHOULD be ac in those. FIA could just mandate it and standardize it. Done. But it would make drivers more comfortable and we all know their track record when it comes to driver safety/comfort
@Tyler-dm9jw3 ай бұрын
Why would they need ac, way to bulky and unnecessary it’s an extreme sport no race car would have it, like saying marathon runners should have roller skates cause it’ll be easier 😂

I'm sure you could do some sort of ram air into the suit. Like a filtered vent into the vest and out the back with minimal resistance. But im SURE they factor in the weight loss via sweat for shorter laps later on. Is there some sort of sweat drain in the suit? I mean that's a pretty significant amount of water to retain...4 kilos is a HUGE amount to lose. Extreme physical

Lewis himself is one of the most ignorant people out there: lecturing us all about how we should live when he has an absolutely massive carbon footprint. Lewis wines about racism, yet he drives for Mercedes. I supported him when he drove for team Braun alongside Button but now I can't stand the woke clown.

It's do with holding companies and people accountable for flagrant pandering and forcing social politics when it's not at all called for or necessary. It also creates an atmosphere that makes people reluctant to be natural in fear of backlash. You're way off mark.

@@Despond lots of words to say "The world is the way it is, and it's good for me and mine. So let's not bother trying to make any changes". New flash: movies, art, music, media as a whole has ALWAYS pushed an agenda. Whether it was getting kids to smoke in the 70s, or inspiring men to take charge and brave adversity as with Westerns. Movies today REFLECT where society is and the overwhelming message is - save the fucking planet, make space for people who don't look like you and include others in storytelling. Too much to ask?? And types like you throw the baby out with the fucking bathwater because a handful of stories told aren't A+ 10/10 or because a few voices aren't to your liking. Fuck all the way off.

Race car drivers have to have the most insane body control and awareness of self. Studying physics through university put a lot of things in perspective for me on these guys and fighter pilots. Absolutely unreal, these dudes are superhuman.
@mikeyduke102 ай бұрын
It's just so stupid how this is to the point where to win he needs to be lighter to be faster and there isn't much else to do. John mcguiness was once quoted saying something like "I wish I could find out what I'd have been able to accomplish if I had only eaten 4 pies instead of 5 a day" or something along those lines. Which just goes to show how racing on a road rather than around a track needed someone who had the brain to do it rather than just the body
