I was brought up in fear and severe trauma and I always have read facial expressions because it was the way to see if something bad was going to happen😢 But God.... Is close to the Brokenhearted and those of a contrite spirit God holds Us in His hand and He molds us into survivors so we have compassion and empathy for those who are going through the same things to give them hope & to let others know that God will never forsake them 💜

I was speaking to a romantic interest the other day, and I noticed that he started using the phrase "our gym" instead of "insert gyms actual name". I found it odd because i immediately felt closer to him and recognised it as a subtle kind of love bombing. Then I wondered if I was being hypervigilant. In regard to sociopath or narcissists, systematically using specific language that they know "works", this makes perfect sense now.

How do you differentiate between them?
@TheeAntiChris
@TheeAntiChris 2 күн бұрын
@@dissonantbrainz3556 That’s a great question. I’ll try my best to explain it… When making a decision, you know you’re using logic when you consider many things. You think about your past experiences, past and present emotions, warning signs, the possibility of good or bad things happening, etc., and base your decision off those things. You’re using your heart when you base your decision on how you feel in that very moment. Whether it’s a feeling of fear, or excitement, or anger, etc. it’s more impulsive, and you sort of feel it in your heart. You feel your intuition in your gut. Hence, a “gut feeling”. It’s kind of like a nagging whisper that encourages you to do what’s best for you, even when you can’t see how it’s the best thing for you in the moment. Even when you insist on doing the opposite. It’s not influenced by your emotions, past experiences, and there’s no making sense of it, or shutting it up. You can however, ignore it, but it’ll always be there in the background. And it gets quieter the more you ignore it, and louder the more you listen to you.

I’ve been fascinated by nonverbal communication for years and have studied with who I thought were the top 6, but Annie has a high level of emotional intelligence that levels it up tremendously. I love how she backs it up with science because it’s hard not to dismiss EQ as woo woo. Emotions are so easy to dismiss as immeasurable or subjective, finally science is catching up to one of the most fundamental pieces of human experience.

@@infinite10045 I’ll check out Gavin De Becker. Have to disagree with your assumption that reading people doesn’t work. If you check your biases and ego and know yourself it’s fairly straightforward once you learn from good teachers. Most people don’t take the time to really understand the nuance and take a “rule” from a 30 second video and try to apply it. So yeah, in those cases they are projecting or often wrong. But micro expressions are real, the study of universal non verbal communication is legit. And having enough sense to know they’re experiencing an emotional but you don’t know why requires maturity. When you see it used effectively it’s awesome.

Two things I want to point out; this is why they tried to force face masks on us. Expression is our first form of communication as humans. Second, children who come from emotionally abusive homes, learned this at a really young age, so you know exactly when you will want to avoid the abusive parent & make yourself invisible.

40:41 To me it doesn't matter if they are good, have good intentions if they are traumatized. All of the ones I dealt with had deep trauma, and both the "good" ones and darker ones were bad to deal with. They're both disorganized and will gaslight will, no matter if they believe their own lies or if they make up some to control you. They all try to control, and this is damaging in any relationship. I'd just run away and go no contact, with no guilt. You can't fix a broken person and you'll end up broken as well. It'll take some years for you to recover from their madness.
@Nyx96-sy7hg

YEAP. I avoid them. I don't know care if they are good or bad. I just don't want that sht anywhere near me anymore. Because they bring their crap to dump on YOU and suck YOUR life force out of you. They're broken and they do everything to break you, too. I just don't want that stuff. I am not anyone's saviour. Nobody been saving me lol It's because of these people and what they brought with them over and over I have had to do a TON of work to not end up messed up. Those in the circles that I cannot completely avoid get a lot of boundaries. The rest have all been outed and I watch for any new ones trying to latch onto me. I am like a damn magnet for these types. Because I have in me what they DON'T and will never get. Took me a while to realize that I'm highly empathetic and genuine...and it's like a freaking magnet to broken people, narcs, socios and psychos. I was married to a narc for 12 yrs. His family was full of these people. Even some of my own family is. All the men I've been around have been broken or narcy or psycho... even several female friends that I met over the years have been like that. Now I keep myself WELL PROTECTED from these type of people.

Not everyone who has trauma is like what you are describing. Some people work on things and get better. Or don't end up in states as bad as what you said. What you went through, with the people you describe, is trauma. Therefore, you are also traumatized. Are you exactly what you just described? Everyone has trauma. Even the kindest, most empathetic and giving person has trauma and could have an event or a few events that are deeply traumatic and still affect them. Everyone is different.

This lady is sharing a very fascinating concept. Except I don’t agree that facial expressions are the only thing to look at. It’s also the tone of voice and body language. And if all of these fail, then trust and listen to what your gut feelings say! It’s everything combined. What I’m walking away from this talk is, it takes practice to develop this skill, to be fully present and aware to all the cues, and come up with your own conclusions.

Essentially: If something SHOCKS you, you will see that in a micro expression. If you don't feel an emotional reaction to something you wouldn't give anything away. Adhd, autists, psycopaths etc will know this emotional regulation. I have literally by accident laughed at a story of a dead dog because I was thinking of something else during. You have no clue what the other person is thinking. You just see their expressions.

With Narcissists, they mirror very well. So I haven't tried but I think recognizing micro expressions on someone who convinces himself that he is a character, isn't going to help you.

I must admit since I was a young person I've felt like I was picking up macro / micro facial expressions naturally. When you grow up with many families/ people.. you are trained naturally. Then of course later on with training. 😘😇 I love ❤️ this 🙏.
