Touch your inner space, which is nothingness manifestation.guide as silent and empty as the sky; it is your inner sky. Once you settle down in your inner sky, you have come home, and a great maturity arises in your actions, in your behavior. Then whatever you do has grace in it. Then whatever you do is a poetry in itself. You live poetry; your walking becomes dancing, your silence becomes music

Foundations for a commitment "castle": 1) show up in ways they need, not just how you're comfortable showing up. 2) work on yourself (hobbies, passions, outlets, friends...but also, BE MINDFUL of the difference between being vulnerable and expecting them to constantly put a bandaid on or reassure you. Can't be like that all the time - gotta work on it yourself.) 3) Seeing each other as a teammate, not someone to fulfill your needs (or to compete with) and making sure you're supporting them, being a gardener, not just the flower. (Expect to switch those roles as needed but be ready to support them in their limelight.) Amazing video, guys, with so many thoughtful and insightful nuggets!

"you can be in love and unhappy!" -- We DO need to start worrying more about happiness! I love Mathew!
@soonsims
@soonsims 5 жыл бұрын
I think the fact that everyone is so worried about being happy is the reason why people find it harder to settle down these days. There's always something(one) around the corner who's going to make you happier, always. The grass is always greener on the other side. I think exactly the opposite - that people should be less selfish and stop thinking about short term pleasures/rewards/happiness and start sacrificing their own happiness for more meaningful connections.

@anthien6451 4 жыл бұрын
Mynk Moonsun it means what is your relationship like when no one’s watching. What are the interactions when there’s no special occasions to dress up for, to be extra romantic for. For example, when you come home after a long day at work and your partner prepared a nice hot bath for you, just because he/she knows that’s what you like. Or when he/she spends extra time to fix the shirt that you really like but got ripped in the corner, or when they remember to leave the parsley out of the soup because they know you don’t like it....All without being asked. Small things like that but it requires attention to details and dedication towards the partner to even think of and remember these details are the core of the relationship

I must say that the realism of this interview is spectacular. And the depth of what is real in relationships that you both talk about is true. I know this from watching a successful relationship over time (my folks were together 50+ years) They showed exactly these qualities until they passed away. It was the determination to stay in love, to create love, and to remind themselves of the best in each other that kept them together. Thank you for the vulnerability to show what is real.

I love the phrase: 'This is not going to serve you.' I'm not sure where I first heard or read it but I use it so often. I can't begin to describe how much it cheered me up to hear that at age 13(!) Matthew noticed that we design the trash cans for each land AND, that we inspired him to create immersive experiences for his seminars!! You see I've worked for Walt Disney Imagineering for 25 years and I've been furloughed due to COVID19. It's a terribly depressing and frightening time for me and my friends and co-workers. We have no idea if or when we'll be called back to work and put back on the payroll. The stress is terrible. This was the last thing I expected to hear tonight but I needed to hear it. I'm new to this channel and just came across a couple of Matthew's videos yesterday and then this video was suggested tonight. I haven't been in a relationship in many years and the deck appears to be stacked against me, but I found a lot of valuable information during this interview so anything is possible! Thank you!

@Martina Well, I grew up in the time of no home computers. Went all over the place, did all kinds of things, travelled, never met the right person. Some people have to try extra hard to find the right match. It doesn't 'just happen' for everyone. I suggest going both routes. Online, and go where a lot of available men might be. Maybe volunteer at conferences, or whatever.

Even though we may never meet in person, your smiles give great warmth to me, reminding me that there is someone out there in the world that cares. 2. I love your confidence. I still struggle calling myself a coach, but seeing your progress in the past few years really set an example for me that "this is possible!" 3. Thank you Lewis and Matthew for this video. It was the realest conversation about relationships I've seen on youtube. It was like the type of conversation I would have with my friends on the couch I think Matthew might be on to something with the 4 steps: Admiration, Chemistry, Commitment, and Compatibility. My previous relationship was so amazing I couldn't imagine us breaking up, but for some reason things just weren't working after 3 years. Now something's clicked. Admiration? yup. Chemistry? yup. Deep breaths...and vulnerability was a nice step away from the daily coaching we’ve been seeing from everyone. because real life... real relationships aren’t perfectly rehearsed speeches but rather at times hiccuped and stuttered speeches or like Matthew- a lost train of thought. Damn! ...that castle analogy was spot on and eye opening. I have been building the castle on my own as he sat back and criticized my every move . Here I am 10 years later and he packed and walked out 24 days ago because I have been working so hard for so long to build the foundation then the structure and finally the roof to only realize that he was no where to be found by my side thru thick or thin, good times or bad, thru sickness or health.....so when I did get sick from pulling all the weight ...and after burying my Father and getting a life altering disease that made it impossible for me to carry that weight....he left. I'm angry at myself . I'm a strong woman tho and I will endure the disappointment and I have to remind myself where there are life's rejections are God's protection. I will re read this post years from now and realize it was the best thing to happen for me. Sigh....right now, I just take one day at a time. Thank you for the eye opening insight. I got this.

I loved this - it kept reminding me that the only relationship any of us are ever having is the relationship we are having is the one we have with our self. From that place - we either project or relate to others from that center. Every discovery of ourselves is worth every piece of pain that the “mirror” of another brings us. Don’t break the mirror - just be grateful when the mirror reveals the truth - you just have to be looking for the reflection in the mirror of you that the relationship brought you🙏

I have recently been introduced to Matthew Hussey. Listening and just in awe on the conversation on how we show/express love towards the needs of our partners; priceless. "Show up in ways they need." Matthew you are a true gem. There's hope in way of insight, guidance, and practicality. Pure gold.

Great interview! I feel when Matthew uses the word 'instinct' he's really referring to our egos. Gut instinct is something we should all be more in tune with and usually ends up being right. It's the ego mind that causes us to react in certain ways that most of the time can be detrimental to us and our relationships :)

Lewis, I watch your episodes getting so much value out of it: life advice, maximizing my listening skills watching you being a great listener, learning how to ask awesome follow-up questions seeing you do the same and humility. I observed that whoever you speak to you always make them feel that you're on one level and are humble enough to continue learning. Also, I'm a big Matthew fan!

If more men and women had these types of REAL conversations, based on vulnerability and selflessness in relationships, I believe we would live in a world with less sexism, gender neutrality and the utmost respect for each other. It just might lessen the catty and egotistical response we often run to.

I've followed Matthew for a little while now, and find a lot of his talks/interviews to be helpful or insightful, but this one, in particular, I found to be incredibly moving. In part because of the raw vulnerability (good call to leave in the real human moments of distraction/lost thought), but perhaps more so for having recently experienced and realized much of this myself. You can be in love and unhappy...staying in a relationship far longer than I ever should have because we were two independently successful people who loved each other, admired one another and pushed each other to grow...on the outside it looked like it should have worked. Realizing and admitting that I was holding onto a future that I envisioned with this person, the life that I hoped we would have once all of these "obstacles" were out of the way, rather than what actually was...admitting that, if that future never came and what we had in the present was how it was forever, I would be miserable and unfulfilled, and finding the courage to walk away was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I kept holding on to all of our "Space Mountains," dreaming of all the future trips to Disney Land, and ignoring the state of the trash cans. Thank you both so much for sharing this with the world.

Feeling safe, seen and being inspired to be better every day is everything...this interview brought tears to my eyes. I really hope there are men out there feeling the same way or at least acceptive to talk about these things and willing to improve as much as I am. I'm so ready to build the castle with that amazing view. 🙏😊✨

My family has been through so much in the last 13 to 16 years that I'm 27 physically, feeling 50 mentally. And I've seen, heard and lived through the ups and downs of my parents relationship. They been married almost 30 years and from my observation aren't Really happy. And they had 9 children together! They don't seem to Like each other Wholly. Both have selfish tendencies that they don't recognize. I have learned a lot through their relationship. I Want To Always LIKE The One I'm With. And I Want Him To Always LIKE Me. Like Each Other Enough To Take A Moment Of Silence To Acknowledge & Listen To What The Other Does That Doesn't Sit Right With The Receiver. And We Collectively Acknowledge That Life Will Put Us Through Harsh Trials, Keep Faith In God's Wisdom, Always Have The Desire To Understand Each Other And Be HELP MATES In This Life One Day I'll Have That! IF GOD WILLS!

Great relationships will change the world, or at least the world around us, so thanks very much guys for your constant exploration and conversation. None of us know all the answers and I appreciate your focus on humility. You both seem excited, and I really also like the "height" of your aspirations. I support you both in getting there and sharing it with the rest of us. Go for gold! In fact, go for element 115!

When Matthew was telling his 3 love letter sentences, this just hit so close to home. I saw my relationship with my boyfriend in these words. We have such a beautiful relationship and we will soon be in a long distance relationship. I shared your video on facebook. My friends are always asking me for advice and I want them to know they deserve a man they can be happy with not just to settle because they are afraid to be alone. This video made me realize we miss a memory from a past partner but that doesn't mean we still don't care about them it's just we had a great memory that will always be in our minds and heart. We need love on both parts to build our castle together. No relationship is perfect but we have to work at it with communication. Since seeing these videos I have really opened up my eyes to see I felt this advice but I didn't know how to explain it the way you do to make sence of it. I write in a book for myself. I get alot of inspiration from all of it to write even more. Thanks so much.
