"If you see the needle moving you've probably gone too far" perfectly sums up for me the subtle magic of mastering. Lovely tour, thanks.

Quite an impressive facility! I soaked up an entire towel with my drool! I'm kind of surprised that Mike didn't know how low in frequency the far monitors went. Inquiring minds want to know!

Give me some credit, it's not even my room! But for inquiring minds: the KRKs go down to 62Hz; the PMCs go down to 17Hz.

My apologies Mike... I wasn't disparaging you... Just surprised you didn't know... I was under the impression the Monitors (close and far) were the same for the Mastering Rooms. 17Hz is quite impressive! Lots of room to work with that spec!

Carl Garthwaite for the main speakers we have PMC BB5 XBD’s in every room, but the one I share with Felix, which has PMC MB1 XBDs (as mentioned in the video). The MB1s are slightly smaller, but we do have a surround setup of them, and there’s no way we could fit 5 BB5s in this room! Every engineer has their own set of nearfields though, which is entirely down to personal taste. My room has PSI A17s and Unity Audio Rock MkIIs.

Having a track mastered here by John Davis. Quite impressive studios and I really look forward to hearing the results.

Just sent two trakcs to him an hour ago. How was yours?
@TheTurnback3 жыл бұрын
@@fededj2002 I thought the master was fantastic. It actually made me hear things that I could improve so I've sent him a remix to master. Very happy with the results (I also asked John not to brick wall it since the song will basically be streamed and he hit it exactly where I'd like it). Let me know how it turns out for you.

I'm happy this video exists but is anyone else adding up the price tags and wondering how in the world anyone could afford this on an engineer's salary?

@@LEWITT-audio I believe it’s called a “placebo effect” there is NO WAY I’m sorry but that’s absolute nonsense. Do a scientific double blind test and prove me wrong. I’d bey the farm that you can’t hear the difference.
