My best friend died from Cancer, she was a BJJ blue belt. Before dying she told me to never give up without a fight, so I started training BJJ. I'm about to get my blue beltthis December, I've won 4 gold medals. All the women I tell this story just melt when they hear it. Then I understood that there's nothing more attractive to a woman than a man in a mission.

So cute, you can see that Lex is really asking about himself. He's yet to solve the puzzle as to why his abundant success and status haven't conferred upon him the bounty that Peterson suggests is typically manifest for someone so successful. Lex is looking for more, for other answers, for more bro-science. He wants Peterson to talk about alpha male personalities, looks, etc, as being a bigger factor than status, so big in fact that his own timid personality might mitigate his own success to the extent that he's somehow a sexual failure in spite of his brains, talents, and wealth. What Lex needs to hear is that no matter who you are, you will not get laid unless you stop being concerned about the cleanliness of the act, the purity of the pursuit. There is no purity, no ideal woman, no ideal situation. There is only risk and reward. Those who are successful with women engage with them with an almost reckless abandon - it is this state alone that produces the myriad feelings which bind people together in feverish excitement. Lex needs to say "screw it" and be the boss he surely is.

Is it adventure or validation? Not saying it's correct, but when younger men lose their virginity it does 2 things. It signals to the man who is engaging in sexual activity that a woman has selected him. The second thing is it signals to everyone else around you that this is the case. Could just be my experience, but the guys in high school/college who had sex were given some social currency. Perhaps adventure plays into this, but seeking validation can either hinder someone, who is purely focused on sex. Or it can help someone go "Ok, got that out of the way... Let's move on"
@andreyseas

Jordan Peterson is grossly oversimplifying. There's a huge difference between a woman who is a gold digger, and a woman that sees your potential and loves you regardless of whether you succeed or fail. It's natural for a woman to be attracted to status, but if that's ALL she is after, based on Peterson's logic, she will leave you for a man with higher status as soon as the opportunity arises. That's not true love.
@theWayoftheHero
@theWayoftheHero 3 ай бұрын
Yea he tries to be way too statistical and concrete about variables that are complex, multi-factorial and impossible to specify with any sort of scientific rigor. I mean sure, everyone can agree in a general sense that status matters to a woman but to boil down the entire enterprise of romantic relationships to such a simplistic formula of: -women want status -you're a loser until you get your act together and gain status for the sole purpose of being validated by a woman who only values one aspect of who and what you are That shit is ridiculous man and it's one of his biggest oversights and underdeveloped ideas. For all the positive messaging he brings to the world, I can't see how he doesn't view this as perhaps the most cynical way someone could view relationships. It's deeply cynical to tell men the sole reason they should "get their act together" is to receive the attention of a materialistic woman who places their value of you solely on your status and what you can provide. This is evidence of how obsessed he is with perceiving the world through hierarchies. It's just one of those things that, at a certain level, yes the hierarchy exists and certain general aspects of the dynamics are true, but that's just not where it ends. It's not the deepest level of truth about how relationships work and what one person finds attractive about another person. It's only true when describing shitty, superficial people who will leave you when you no longer fulfill the one thing that gave you value in the first place. Even smart people get it wrong.

It’s also worth considering that attractiveness is a spectrum. Know your value. Men who are physically less attractive than average aren’t going to attract a woman who’s above-average in attraction, unless they compensate with status and/or money. And in the case of women who are less attractive than average, they’re not gonna “tame the beast”. Everyone just needs to know their worth if they wanna find a mate.

How do you interpret love? If love is supposed to be a feeling that NEVER ebbs and flows then yeah, you’ll never find someone who loves you because that’s a unicorn emotion; it doesn’t actually exist. If love is an emotion and that can be cultivated based on your actions then it’s not only achievable, it can be almost guaranteed. ❤

@@CRLenard thanks for demonstrating my point. For women, love is an emotion, and emotions are fickle, unpredictable and temporary. For men, love is akin to respect. Although all relationships have an element of transaction, when men love, we love more selflessly. We will risk or even sacrifice our lives for those we love, wether it be our girlfriend, friend, brothers in arms, or even our dog. We feel love deeply, but it’s not just about how it makes US feel. It’s far less conditional and less selfish. Essentially the difference is solipsistic love vs selfless love.

Peterson panders to a society that OBVIOUSLY doesn't give a damn about it's sons, and tries to browbeat them with cheap platitudes about some sort of "duty" that is never rewarded as it should be. He simplifies gender dynamics which alienates young men since his BS doesn't reflect the REALITY of what they experience. His rhetoric is BS when it simply doesn't apply.

It's mandatory for a channel to stay relevant. But you do you. All youtubers are slaves to the algorythm, Lex is no different. Not having thumbnails that draw people in is a slow death in the youtube space.

Had to laugh at the title. No disrespect intended fellas. Lex isn't the first person that comes to mind to ask for advice on getting laid. Jordan may be extremely knowledgeable on the female psyche, traits and instincts, he knows the theories, the data and research but lacks, through his own choice, much field practise so to speak. What the theory and books say is one thing but often, in many fields in the real world, it's different, and experience and street smarts can count more than book smarts.

For all the positive messages Peterson has brought to the world and to many men in general, he always loses me with this take on relationships. I honestly think it's the most cynical take on relationships you could have, and I can't understand how he could possibly view this as uplifting and encouraging to men. I mean the way he is describing it in this video, his whole "confront the dragon" philosophy of personal development (which I agree with) seems to be ultimately tied to becoming "useful" so that you can finally appeal to a woman and stop being such a damn "loser". How much more cynical can you get about relationships lol? Can you imagine if he were to say to the women who are on the lower end of the dating pool "get your ugly ass up and start being pretty"? To tell men that their ULTIMATE purpose is to one day, after all the trials and tribulations, have external validation from the opposite sex, who only values them to the extent that they can provide "usefulness", seems to me like it would promote suicide just as much as it would promote a call to action. Am I lost? Am I missing something? There is so much wrong with this argument. I feel like I could write a short book refuting this conceptualization and how deeply wrong it is, but I've already written too much and nobody reads these long messages anyways. Why would you ever encourage a man to actively try to attract a woman who only sees him through the most superficial lens possible? How can you let women off the hook, telling men to grow the hell up and let go of their childish fantasies about women, while allowing women to remain infantile in their expectations of men, absolving women of all accountability by removing the fear of consequence from their own lack of growth and maturation, excusing them to just sit there, do nothing, sacrifice nothing, become ever more picky and choosy, radically inflating the standards that men have to meet year after year, and dangle the carrot of approval and acceptance and worthiness in front of the poor, lowly man. What are you as a man when you don't become "useful" anymore? How can you promote a deeply religious framework of life and of the world while also telling men the fundamental underpinning of their striving is and should be, anchored to external validation in the form of "reproductive success"? Is this the conclusion one comes to when they seek God? How can you encourage men to mature and strive for marriage and to remain committed, even in the case of say, I don't know, a woman becoming "less attractive" over the course of time, while seemingly giving women the absolute go-ahead and consequence-free power to demand the man's "attractiveness" based on his "utility" remain unblemished? All with the underlying implied threat that a dissatisfied woman will leave, even a marriage, because of course that's what the kind of woman who sees men this way will do. This is just such a shallow depiction of what a real relationship is and should be, what real love is and should be, what real commitment is and should be. This is only a reflection of people that are incredibly superficial and materialistic. And if you want to get up and clean your room to attract a person like this, go for it, but you'll be fighting that fight and climbing that hill for the rest of your life, to eventually and inevitably be outsourced by someone else that provides more "value" than you. You're better off embarking on a true spiritual pursuit, trying to find ways to accept yourself first and foremost, with God, through God, and understanding your true spiritual nature. Chasing approval and acceptance your whole life is literally the opposite of a spiritual endeavor, and it is most certainly not the message of Jesus and the Bible.

@@YouWontDoAnythingAboutIt I don't think he's a charlatan. Quite the opposite. I just think he's deeply wrong about this idea. He also assumes a person is "useless" because of irresponsibility, lack of drive, maturation, etc. But completely ignores the man that could end up in the type of circumstances he deems as "being useless" for reasons completely out of his control. For instance, say someone is "useful", and they are responsible providers taking care of themselves and their families, raising their children, faithful to their wife, etc. Then life happens in all the ways that it can. Illness. Injury. Job loss. Widespread economic downfall. Tragedy, plain and simple. What then? What about those men? Those useless bastards. How dare you become chronically ill. How dare you become disabled. How dare you deviate from your ability to provide comfort and security. Time for their women to get up and leave right? That's the message isn't it? Of course it is. That's what this type of belief leads to. And the wise scientist just let's women off the hook because "evolutionarily women seek out their mate across the strata of whoever is the most successful... dominance heirarchy... lobster neurology... blah blah blah..." Like I said, run that race and get that kind of woman bother. By all means take that superficial snake off the market for the rest of us. I don't live my life inside of this kind of cynicism about women and relationships and I won't adopt it from anybody else. I can admit there is truth in what he is saying but like I already stated, this type of belief is only representative of incredibly superficial and materialistic people, and just because it's true that those people exist, it doesn't mean you should center your worldview and conception of self based around that truth.
