I was a massive 50 cent fan when I was a little kid, I can't remember what age but I was in primary school in England so probably aged 8-10. Had the G Unit Reebok trainers, all the fake 50 cent jewelry out of the rap magazines, played his PS2 bulletproof game etc. Crazy how internationally famous he was, I was literally a white 8-10yo from a small white town in England.

Lex, as a former stepparent (coincidentally, had a stepdaughter who was into theater named Alexis), I believe the reason you felt sheltered in the theater scene was because your parents recognized that their little girl would *be* safer in that community and I'd guess they encouraged you in that endeavor. It’s crazy 2Pac and 50 Cent were both shot many times and both survived. And they both made music videos about their experience afterwards. One was taken away from us way too early. But those two rappers wrapped about their lives and struggles and tribulations. During that era gangsta rap was very different than it is now.

dang i dont even remember the last time i listened 50cent songs. It brings me back to my youth. I listened eminem, 50cent and tupac. Back then it was pretty much all i listened. Now i listen pretty much all genres of music. Still listening eminem/tupac daily so maybe have to add 50 back to the list.

Yeah with 50 Cent when he was shot that time he also got shot in the mouth and it changed the way he talked and that’s why he talks like he does now and he made a few mill off of that because he’s got a very distinct voice for sure
