Just a small note: the beads in the necklaces are not actually about glory. Everyone gets one after the summer is over, so the amount of beads in a neckalce shows the time the person has spent at camp. Eg. Annabeth and Luke have been at camp for five years so they each have five beads. All of the beads have different colours and patterns based on one significant event from the summer. Btw I love the way you take notes while watching so you don’t miss anything!

So...yes, Grover telling Percy that his mother is still alive and is in Hades does give Percy motivation to go to Hades... But the reason why Chiron and Mr D didn't want Percy to know that his mother was alive was because the master bolt has a deadline. So they want Percy's ENTIRE focus to be on finding and returning the master bolt before the week is up... They knew that if they told Percy about his mother that his mother would then be his top priority ...not finding the master bolt... So yeah that's why they were attempting to keep it a secret and that's why they were VERY upset with Grover when Grover told him anyway. Because Percy's mother will always be his top priority. 🤷‍♀️

About the relation on book and movie. Well, the movie was more "look alike" the book. As I said before Riordan don't loose time evolving feelings and little dramas. He set sequences of events and process the three demigods through those. The Medusa/Athena drama as much Percy woes about oracle premonition are not part of book history.
