Absolutely. You can pop the unit off the mount and hide it, so just the suction cup mount is stuck to the windshield, or you can easily remove the mount/unit together.

Hello. I want to know my opinion: can this device or Grom play videos from a flash drive or from the Internet, do programs such as Netflix and others work?

I don’t believe so, but even if you could, the screens are small and the Grom uses the factory screen, so it’s super poor quality. If you want to watch videos, I’d just get an old refurbished iPad and find a place to mount it on the dash. My Joying unit in my non-nav GX has KZbin, Netflix, etc. capability, but I only use an iPad for convenience sake and higher resolution.

I actually don’t know which one my wife uses. Just a generic A/C vent mounted one from Amazon from what I can tell

@lexus_offroad_adventures thanks for your reply. Love your videos man! What's the next tesla screen head unit now? Phoenix seems glitchy. Aucar has good reviews but still seems glitchy and not up to date with their android version. Any suggestions? I have a 2006. Thanks!

@@ml989 you know I was supposed to do a video with Phoenix on their Android 12 head unit when it came out but not sure on the status of that one. I’m hoping it drops and addresses everyone’s issues they’re having with the current model. Unfortunately I don’t have any direct experience with anything other than the Grom VLine 2 and this one in the video. We stuck with the Grom for now. Keep an eye out for the Phoenix HU video. I’ll try to film and post within a few weeks of receiving it (if they ever send it)

So out of the two options, watched them both, are you happy with the Grom, or are you recommending this as a better option? I am looking for a solution. I might try this one first as a lower cost. I am really interested if you, and your wife, think the Grom is actually a better solution than this one? Thanks!

I do believe the Grom is better than this one purely for packaging purposes unless you have the aux jack in the 05+ GX. The radio audio is heavily dependent on local radio quality which can be hit or miss. The Grom is expensive and is very limited by the stock screen. I’ll be reviewing the android 12 Phoenix auto Tesla style screen in a few months as an alternative as well. We’re trying to upgrade from the Grom. Maybe getting this one to hold you over before you find a more permanent solution might be best? Teyes CC3 unit and the Phoenix auto ones seem like the most popular alternatives for a modern screen.

The head unit stopped working? Is the screen just blank? Or does it not have power? If it doesn’t work, then you don’t have A/C controls, so I’d definitely want to get that resolved asap. Plenty of used units for sale on eBay if it’s a problem with the screen, but I cant see what the problem is, so if anything, I’d suggest having a local audio shop look at it

For this unit, It needs to be connected via the radio in order to play anything thru the speakers

i dont understand how your bottom screen had apple carplay on it when all you did was plugged the ATOTO into the cig lighter, and plugged your phone into the cig lighter. where does the factory screen get the signal/ability to display apple carplay?

I've used quite a few of this type of unit that connect via FM. And FM is the worst connection...

That does seem to be the weak point, unfortunately. However, I think if you have a good local FM station it can make sense. Also, like I mentioned in the video, if you have an 07+ GX, you can use the AUX input.
