So witch engine do like, should ppl wait for the hybrid? Seems the V6 is more reliable easier to fix. Don't like the 2023 plastic grill, the 2024 looks like you could put a 4x4 bumper on with wench making it better than Land cruiser.

The Overtrail edition has both center and rear lockers. When combined, there is a 50/50 split of power to front/back axle + locked rear wheels which will spin in unison. This will get you out of even situations with diagonal traction loss (two diagonal wheels in the air). There really isnt much of a difference in performance compared to ALSO having a front locker except in the most extreme of offroading situations. Most people are already heavily modifying their vehicles by this point for things like extreme rock crawling. Just my two cents.

Since the GX 460 has proven long-term reliability and fairly strong aftermarket support in the off-roading industry, I would not suggest buying the 550. At the very least, wait 2-3 years for Toyota/Lexus to work out the bugs. Regardless of how many bugs they work out, just know that there's little to no chance that the turbo will ever last as long as their bulletproof V8.

I have a LX570 and it is great. I love it. BUT, it does cost a lot of more money to fix and maintain. The 13 mpg city isn't a lot of fun too. I do a lot of miles for my work so I've already done the big 110,000 tune up/repair period. Cost me $11,900 to replace all the warn out steering components and new shocks and struts. Had to replace the water pump and the spark plugs were outragously expensive. If you have the cash get one for sure. Mine is a 2017 with 133,800ish miles and I hope to keep it forever.

@@SuperSnakePlissken that is awesome! I would love to take yours out for a ride! I want the 2006 LX 470 with low miles. Believe it or not I get about 20 mpg on the interstate. I don't do 70 though. I do 63 tops. I even get about 18 around town but I drive slow, coast up to stop signs, I don't ever floor it to merge unless I absolutely have to. I call it mellow driving. It's actually been good for me mentally too. This says a lot considering I use to race stock cars.

@@elijuh3My LX570 gets 13.5-14.5 city depending on how hard I drive it. Highway it will get 18.5'ish pretty consistently. I don't complain about that at all due to the fact it is a 5.7L V8 and AWD/4WD. I debated heavily on getting a LX470 when my wife and I were in the market, and it pretty much came down to two things. 1.) the 5.7L V8 had a lot more power and was a chain and not a timing belt. I looked into that maintenance and it was $3500 to change back in 2017 so I cannot even imagine what it is today (that included the tensioner and waterpump). Overall, the 5.7L V8 driving experience paired to the six speed transmission just drove so much better than the LX470 I had test drove. 2.) The other thing was my wife and both preferred the styling of the LX570 and creature comforts that it had over the LX470...and the lights! The headlights were absolutely far superior on the LX570. Is the LX470 a bad vehicle of course not. To each their own.

10:03 chart is WRONG. After the FJ-40 the "more luxury" branch has been split starting with the FJ-55, then followed by 60 series, then followed by 80, 100, 200, 300 series. Meanwhile 70 series has appeared at the same time as the 60 series, as a more robust cheaper option and the sub-split heavy/light duty has happened there too, where the 70-heavy duty kept its original form more or less up to this day, and light duty 70-series was given the name "prado" and has started its own model line 70-90-120-150-250. The 80 series is the direct successor to 60 series not 70.

@@lunamaria1048 it's not about assembly at Tahara Aichi plant, which is world-class, I agree. New model means a lot of new parts, supplied by several hundred sub-contractors\suppliers. I'd buy the old one,I supposed prices will go down once the new ones are in dealerships.According to this Vid just a little better gas milage than the out going model i could certainly live with that.

Surprised you didn't say not to buy it because its the first year of a revamp, you say that all the time and I agree. Scotty rule # 351 - no first year purchases on new or revamp'd models...

I would agree if its a new engine and drive tran and all that. Otherwise a new shell body redesign doesnt mean much. They will have similar reliability.

You are wrong if you bought the GX for city ride. For that reason buy an RX. GX is for serious off road trails. Places where no other brand managed to concur

Great compilation of information! Much appreciated! The 17mpg is really disappointing. I was hoping for years that the next model would be at or near 30mpg, or at least into the 20s. Even the sequoia has better mpg! I guess I'll be stuck with an NXh or RXh for my next lexus 🙄
@JR-qj6wg
@JR-qj6wg 11 ай бұрын
17 mpg is disappointing for sure, but it's unclear how any engineering team could design a 5800 lb 4WD vehicle with almost 400 hp and nearly 500 lb/ft of torque to get 30 mpg. That would mean improving the overall efficiency of the drivetrain toward the max of 50%, which, presumably every company is working hard to do (or are they?). Electric motors are max 85% efficient, but then you have all the other current gotchas that come with that tech. It's not completely clear why Lexus doesn't offer a turbo diesel option for better mpg. Emissions? I own an older GX for fun and towing, and then an NX300 F-sport for everything else. (The F-sport thing is kind of a joke since there's no extra power, but it did provide the kinetic suspension for improved handling.) The GX is more comfy, but the NX is really nice and it gets 30+ mpg on east coast highways with the turbo. Can't speak to the RX, having never owned one.

@JR-qj6wg sequoia has 437hp and weighs 5620lbs+. The gx is about 1000lb heavier but I think a rigidy-enhanced unibody may have been better overall than sticking with a body on frame, if it means that much weight

Sir you didn't give us some information about transmission, it's verey huge in size and cost and what i think its using 1 gallon for 17 miles cause of six cylinders ,it's looks like suburban with v6 engine , what i think is if they put v8 will be verey different of fuel maybe because 6 cylinders is not enough for this kind of body who carrying 7 adults with canvas too , thats why it forced to use 1 gallon for 17 miles ,i like the size and box type if they solve the problem of fuel and front diff lock system than it becom a GOD of SUV for long trips ,otherwise jeep wrangler or 2023 Lexus is best with diff locks and fuel offensively ,Thank you sir for giving us such good information about car's .
