My take on the comparison after owning 2020 RC-F for a year and driving 2021 LC500 (both with top packages & coupes): looks are subjective but LC 9.5, RCF 8, Engine sound: LC 9, RCF 7.5, Dash/Touch Places/Tech: LC 8.5, RCF 8, Handling: LC 8, RCF 9, Speed: LC 7.5, RCF 8.5, Cabin Space: Front LC 9, RCF 9, Back Seats: LC 3, RCF 7, Trunk: LC 4, RCF 8, Attention Gathering from bystanders: LC 10, RCF 7.5. To me, RCF is more sports car than LC, accelerates/breaks better in real world, can push in corners with more confidence (subjective) and you sit in more natural position. If you are buying with carbon roof you will feel you are in a submarine in LC vs RCF you still have some head room to feel comfy (I am 5.11 not even 6ft...etc.). LC is lowered to accommodate the weight/size but you are getting a sculpture art piece versus driving machine. LC s looks, feels, longer, bigger without any space given back to your cabin or trunk. LC's back seats are for insurance or babies, you can't even put toddlers there. RCF you can put kids back seats for short trips without protest (school pickup ...etc.) and can carry your luggage to airport. If I do all over again, I will still go for the RCF but with fuji track edition, the car looks so much better in that form...

@@friendlyghost116 I'm talking quality, style, and refinement. There's no AMG GT close to that price, they are much more expensive and is a different buyer altogether. The C8 is a completely different car, and it's customer based is looking at different things. Yes a mustang has the power, but none of the refinement, style and sophistication. It takes a special buyer to see the specialness of the LC. So for what it offers, it's worth the price.

One of the best real world reviews of these 2 coupes. Personally ended up with the RCF mainly because of the seat accommodation. Glad you pointed that part out since 99% of reviewers fail to mention their size and shape relative to the seat of the car. I’m 6 ‘2” and 250lbs, as much as the LC blows the RCF out of the water in most aspects I wasn’t comfortable sitting in it after 20-30 minutes. Now if they put the RCF’s seats in the LC500, then its definitely game over.

Totally agree about not modifying the LC 500. Definitely if it's their car to do with what they want, but many of the modded LC's that I've seen lost all of it's magnificence in it's stock form. Adding the ground effects and aftermarket spoilers, and partial wraps, it all makes the LC look like a modded IS or R. The elegance of it's natural form is unmatched imo.

@@TheNickhammond That is one mod that I definitely makes the LC looks so much nicer. I think the stock exhaust tips should be a staggered quad exhaust just like the armytrix tips. It's a crime that they are hidden away. Don't get me wrong, I still love the look of current setup, especially when the chrome contrasts seamlessly against my Caviar Black paint, but those quad tips are just gorgeous and sound amazing on the LC 500. I just don't think I'm willing to drop $5k on it, given that I may have to upgrade to a larger vehicle in a year or two.

I have a 2018 and purchased a 4 year added warranty. 5k is steep but if I save I might get it. I can keep original pipes and swap out with a newer model in a couple years would be my plan. There’s also the Yamaha performance dampeners. I have the performance pack and it’s a bit stiff. I heard the dampeners are nice. Not sure if I could add those or should with the performance pack.

@@TheNickhammond Nice!! Enjoy your new baby and get ready to have people staring at your car everywhere you go! This car definitely borders on the level of "exotic", just bc most people have no idea what it is unless they actively research it. I've owned mine for half a year now, and I still have yet to see another one on the road. Compare that to the C8, which is also a beautiful car, but I see them literally EVERYWHERE now. I only mention this bc, before I bought my LC, I narrowed my decision down to the C8 and LC. I'm glad I went with the LC, besides it being more practical as an everyday driver car, it is much more rare.

But for me the biggest handicap of the LC500 is the poor sport performance, but still a top level GT. And cant explain how a 4.77m car dont have usable rear seats :S and too wide, it can be a nightmare for park in a city. So te biggest problem of this car is the 911.

I was in love with the LC 500, exterior and interior but I was a tiny bit disappointed with the exhaust, it sounded great but only about 25% louder than a regular RC F. Once I found out about the RC F Track edition, I was sold. Backseats are actually usable, titanium exhaust has a great tone to it, the lightweight carbon ceramic brakes and rotors make a huge difference in handling and braking and the matte color is just badass. Basically it's the closest that an RC comes to being on par with an LC but with noticeably better driving dynamics and usability although LC still has it beat in the interior department!

LC 500 is a league of it's own due to the price bracket its over 110K for a bespoke which is the only variant worth buying as there are a ton of convertibles in general market vs Coupe which is one to get. RC F handling is much better than LC 500, the F car is built across the race tracks to make it a homologation for GT3 program, LC 500 is built on an TNGA-L LS platform, due to that high weight it is not suited for track that means not that you are going to track these but the vehicle is not upto the mark for the Track performance that means - No auxiliary oil and trans coolers, no TVD. LSD is good but not spectacular. The body of RCF is also bespoke as its built around 3 cars to give that stability at high speeds and high G cornering vs the LC 500, boat. For most of the folks RC F is the way to go, IS 500 has bumper sag and it won't be anywhere close to an F car. Many bemoan how AA80E is slow vs LC 10 spd, it's not true at all. S+ with M mode in RC F will get you in jail or an accident, many idiots on YT claim how ZF in BMW is superior or whatever BS they say about DCT, the thing is Aisin unit is built like a tank and won't let you down at all. LC 500 10 spd hunts for gears and too damn heavy too, and it has a plastic pan like ZF units in BMW. CF option in RCF is best as it skips the moonroof BUT the metal roof in RC F is very solidly made and helps a lot with rigidity too and better road noise, summer, winter months. That said I love my RC F, beautiful car has a sport history, built on track. IMSA GT3 wins and it even won in LeMans GT3 class beating 911s, Corvettes, BMWs.

Though, both are about offering combination between performance and luxury, if one evaluated the cars on performance/capabilities/quickness first then RCF especially with the TVD would be the better choice especially on the track while LC500 is the better high performance/luxury car that you can use daily as a luxury/street car. It has the better bespoke engineering.

Another little known weird difference. The engines are tuned very differently. RCF's 2UR is rev-limited at 7400 rpm (7300 rpm redline) while the LC500 hits the rev limiter at 7100 rpm. Not sure why Lexus did it. I just saw in videos it hits rev limiter much earlier than the RCF. The rev limiter seems to hit at 7100 rpm on LC500. Also, RCF's chassis is a phenomenal chassis even if it was not created from the ground-up. It is the platform of choice for Lexus racing where the RCF GT3 has been winning endurance races with it. All with modified form of the same chassis and engine.
@MeynMotorGroup

@@MeynMotorGroup Yes, I have driven both of these other cars. I get the LC500 chassis is considered the stifest in Lexus, but the RCF platform is race-proven and instrumental in its track capabilities. It is so rigid that Lexus said that they could make a convertible without any need for additional reinforcements. It is hard for me to isolate just the chassis when comparing to cars since the driver experiences the whole package together so I cannot compare chassis for chassis between LC500 and RCF because they feel so different like you said in the review. From that perspective, I experience RCF overall as a coherent package while exploiting the limits. I recorded frequent 1.2 - 1.4G instantaneous turns in my RCF G-meter. Considering RCF is less aggressively tuned than the M4 and is also heavier, it really speaks to the brilliance of the chassis and suspension balance that the gaps is not that big.

Just guessing, but the LC might have the rev limiter a bit lower due to the unique tranny's closer gear ratios in the lower gears. I'm envisioning the rpms climbing quicker after every shift. If shifting right at the redline to the next gear, the rpms aren't dropping much once in the next gear and so the engineers might see the higher potential for the engine to rev too far above the redline. Again, only guessing. I don't own one (thinking about it, hence, watching a lot of LC reviews), so only going by a couple of other LC reviews vids that spoke of the first 6 gears being fairly close to "normal" (maybe equally spread?), and that the last 4 are...well, didn't quite understand the explanation, maybe because the reviewer wasn't sure either. The other one who commented on the gear ratios said pretty much the same thing about the first 6 gears, and he definitely didn't know what was happening with the last 4. Something in the tranny's observed behavior had him thinking maybe gears 7-10 were all used only at freeway cruising speeds, shifting between them to optimize fuel economy. Anway, I understand the LC's 10-speed tranny was designed for and used only in the LC. I'd bet the gear ratios between the RC F and LC are different, which might be the reason the LC's rev limiter is set lower. Or...depending on how you want to look at it, the RC F's can be set higher because its tranny's characteristics allow it. I've seen some articles/vids claim the LC's redline is 7,300 and at least one other that stated it as being 7,100. I'm thinking either one of them was mistaken, or that Lexus made revisions to the later models. If that's the case, I'm curious why. Could be they revised the gear ratios in later model years, which in turn led to the revised redline. Or, they discovered either A) After the car's got significant miles on it, an issue or concern was revealed/realized that might have been due to the redline being set a bit too high, or the opposite. Maybe Lexus discovered that early production models were easily tolerating 7,100 rpms, giving them confidence that they could raise it a smidge. A couple of reviewers were saying peak hp doesn't develop until the top of the rpm range. If they later learned the engine can easily handle higher rpms than originally limited to, upping it 300 would allow it to produce a smidge more power. Obviously, just thinking out loud. If I ever learn the actual reasons, I'll try to remember to come back here let you know.

The LC is such a pretty car, one of the prettiest on the road. The problem for me is that it’s a fairly aggressive looking car, with a great NA motor and sound, but because of the weight, suspension, transmission, and look, it just lacks that 10 percent that makes it really unique and tempting. It’s kind of like having the M 650, but knowing there is a M6 that you missed out on (speaking of which, how does one come up with it driving like a $250k car? Seems to me like it drives very similar to the........$100k car that it is, which is nothing to be ashamed of, but it isn’t a Bentley, rolls on one side, and it isn’t a 488, GT2RS, Aventador, etc.....so what $250k does it drive like?). At any rate, would be amazing if Toyota could do an F version of the car, gunmetal grill, carbon bits on interior, more aggressive wheels, slightly lower stance, squeeze another 50-70 HP, firmer suspension and maybe save 300-400lbs. Btw, you also called it a “sport car” and then you talk about how great the weight is. Lots of mixed messages. Let’s be honest, it’s a luxury coupe for a wealthy 70 year old that’s a “smart alternative” (reliable) to a car like the 6 series or SL, etc. nothing to be ashamed of, but man, this guy is trying to sell this thing. Ohhhh and superior transmission to the PDK? Ok, I’m just to that point in the video, I’m done, you obviously don’t drive a lot of real sports cars, I’m out and off to driving my 911. Lol. Later

@@MeynMotorGroup actually couldn’t be further from the truth. Family happens to be in the dealership business, most of the dealers are Acura and Honda and other Japanese brands. Actually the only euro brand we carry is VW. Lol. My brother also happens to work for Toyota corp in Texas. I really love and respect Japanese cars more than Euro cars. In fact, 99% of the people that drive mercs, BMWs, etc, ONLY do it for the badge. Yes, I’ve owned an M3, I now have a 911 In the stable. I always maintain that if it isn’t an M, I wouldnt touch a BMW and if it isn’t an AMG, I wouldn’t touch a Merc and if it isn’t an RS, I wouldn’t touch an Audi, the baseline cars simply aren’t that special and everyone acts like they are because they are German 🤦🏼‍♂️. That being said, I think your missing the truly special quality of the sport versions of those cars. For the most part, the Japanese haven’t matched it (NSX is the closest thing, very underrated). I’d probably rather have the LC than an SL or a 640, but if we are talking about an AMG GTR, M6, or any 911 Variant, they really can’t match it. But the thing that blew me away is when you say things like the shifter is “better” than a PDK. I don’t know any auto journalist on the planet that would make that claim, NONE. Driving dynamics and “nuances” when comparing a 2 ton luxury car in an auto vs a real sports car at 3000lbs, rear or mid engine, etc etc. I think we are defining “nuances” differently. And yep, I’m looking at numbers, cause I race cars and karts and i live in a world a tenth of a second at a time. We do a ton of practice and also tuning to find .2-.3 tenths of a second. Totally agree, the LC 500 is in a class of it's own, a very different car than the RC-F even though they share the same engine/trans. In my opinion the LC 500 is the coolest looking 2 door grand touring coupe you can buy brand new. Not the fastest, not the best handling...but the best all around in whatever segment it competes in. A guy in my parking garage has a black LC 500 coupe and parks 3 spaces away from my '21 Mazda 3 Turbo hatch. We have by far the coolest looking cars on our row, but I'd say he upstages me by quite a bit.😂 Edit- forgot the LC 500 has the 10 speed trannie, and I believe it's the only Lexus/Toyota product that uses it? That's pretty special...the 8 speed of the RWD LS/GS/IS wasn't quite quick shifting enough so they hooked the LC up with a 10 speed and magnesium shift paddles..magnificent!

I bought a 2016 GSF for 53k that had 5k miles. IMO if you manage to find a used one, it is a better option than an RCF - the supercar level of rarity alone (less than 3000 registered in US for all years ) will hopefully help it to become a classic. Hey Kevin! So first time commenting on one of your videos but I’ve pretty much watched all your LC500 videos . I was about to place an order on a 2021 corvette C8 this month I’m but having second thoughts after all your LC500 videos haha. First time I saw a Lc500 IRL I was in awe , just looks out of this world, just how when I first got my first car a 2002 trd celica gts that I still have and caught my eye. Still haven’t seen a C8 in person so can’t compare. So one thing I had been wishing I could do was test drive both the C8/LC500 to really know for myself what I like based on the driving experience but know it’s almost impossible to test drive either of those. So if I go the LC500 route I might get it used, maybe a 2018 or 2019 with performance package if possible, but I’m also wondering if the little refinements/upgrades ( like suspension, tuning etc) each year make the 18/19 feel way different compared to a 2020 or 2021? Would you know? And also if I go the C8 route I might just wait for the ZO6 variant and hope it feels more connected. Just stuck between these two and can’t make up my mind since I feel like I’ll only be able to get one or the other and have it for 10 plus years or more hopefully . PS: Thanks for the little facts of how low the corvette C8 is compared to the lc500, good real world information to take into account.

I had so much hope and respect for that car, a 60k starting price mid engine car that real humans can afford, and all the reviews made it sound like it was hand made by Jesus Christ. I absolutely hated driving the C8, one of the worst cars very boring to drive because this first generation, they programed it that way. Lot of understeer so people won't crash, and the motor feels like nothing when you wring it out, I would rather have an RC F. Here's what the C8 is good at, it's comfortable, not as much as the 2019 and up LC with 21" rims but still very good. It also looks awesome to everyone in the outside world. Very wide and low, C8 attracts a tad more attention than LC primarily its the newest thing. This is why my friend likes the C8, he doesn't care about driving, he only wants to look cool and get girls and he never exceeds the speed limit. For that the C8 is perfect. If you want to feel anything and have an emotional connection LC is far better. Also build quality is no compromise of course, no panel gaps, no hoods flying off, interior is bank vault solid and LC will be a safer car to be in. Just my observations buying a 2019 CPO car is a good idea, no changes for 2020. 2021 is where they brought in a lot more changes and refinement so if you want to leass 2021 all day. Hope this helps

Exhaust Sports Auto No thank you for the detailed response and keeping it unbiased, I really appreciate it. And you are right, everybody praises it, it’s like stocks/stock market, like that saying that says when people are greedy and buying and buying be doubtful and fearful because a crash or dip is coming. And yeah I know people like that too that get cars or toys just to impress other people, for me if I get something it’s for me and for me to enjoy and experience. I asked my gf which one she likes between the 2 and just says the c8 looks like a toy car while the LC looks more manly and classy haha. And very good points on the last paragraph , I’ve heard of those issues with the C8 and it’s worrying , that a brand new car would have those issues especially at 60k -85k car. And I’d definitely want something that would last a very long time and is safe so thanks for mentioning those points too!

Of course sir, both very important cars and when spending that much for a car, anyone deserves to be happy with it so I wanted to make sure I explained to the best of my ability what the two cars are like. I'm sure you could do an extensive test drive with the LC, Ive had it for about 2 months and Im not bored with it nor do I look at other cars on cargurus or autotrader, not even for fun lol Other cars worth looking into that I like are the F type Jag and C63s Amg. There will be sacrifice in interioe quality but C63s is a bit cheaper. CPO Porsche 911 cars hold value as well. And yes, always best to be cautious of hyped up cars. Best of luck my friend. Stay blessed

Right now an LC500 2019 base is worth about as much as an RC of the next year(still used). RC f is just not worth it if you want high end Lexus

People who think LC is a scam would be one big idiot. Personally having one of that is way cooler than having those regular Supercars.

You would be surprised at how many reviewers I've seen that say the LC basically feels like an RC F....that couldn't be further from the truth. The difference between these two cars is like the distance between heaven and earth

Biggest difference IMO is the oil coolers in the RCf. LC500 doesn’t have it. Kinda sucks

The more n more I see the LC500 around in my fb feed the more and more I’m considering it as long as it’s a 2021+ with dynamic handling package, get a new rear diffuser with quad tip exhaust from a good sounding aftermarket exhaust company then tint the car, put protection on, and keep it til it gets murdered by a semi truck like what happened to my 2012 ISF I had (RIP Lexi!)

Don't get either if you want performance. And if you're going for looks, get the LC. the rcf looks just like the gsf or isf. And they depreciate in value very quickly.

LC is a very nice Grand Tourer….not the fastest, not the best handling, but a very elegant vehicle.
