Automotive journalist in the past from certain sources have been responsible for stigma that have stuck to certain cars that some of us have found to be false. I guess they need something to talk about to separate themselves but THIS is why we love EVO. This is focused on what the car feels like to drive as intended. Not much else matters to the functional minded enthusiast. Thank you EVO for staying true to your customers and your own roots. Even thought I love all 3, The GTR R35 is the greatest of them all IMO. It was a record breaker during its time and it still has a very respectable performance 17 years after its first release and with suttle changes. For a very long period it was a benchmark in performance. Till today it is a top choice amongst tunners with some GTR’s reaching 3000hp+. It has a proven record of reliability. And most important, despite being so legendary, the GTR R35 is actually “buyable”.

The creation of the 1LR-GUE V10 was led by Lexus' chief engine designer, Okamoto Takamitsu. The engine starts life at Toyota's Myochi plant, where the engine block is made from molten aluminum. The block is then sent to Toyota's Honsha factory, the same facility that used to house Toyota's F1 engine operations. Here, the block gets milled, drilled, and polished, emerging as a precise engine block. In a sealed room, Takumis hone every sharp edge using precision polishing tools. After this, a highly skilled Takumi pre-assembles the finished engine blocks to check for precise fitment. Disassembled, they travel as a unit to Yamaha's Iwata city plant. It is at this plant that four highly skilled Yamaha Takumis fully assemble the V10. This process takes 2.5 days for one engine. Before the engine gets installed in an LFA, it undergoes a half day of exhaustive testing. Source: mega factories episode by National Geographic

LFA, and the LFA alone will do. I can just listen to that glorious V10 all day long, things like performance etc. doesn't matter really! Lexus might have lost a ton of money with LFA, but I think the car has repaid the brand immensely over these years. That unmistakable soundtrack tugs your heart every time you hear it - just think how much they might have saved on marketing ever since! I don't know why car manufacturers don't give sound the respect it deserves while building cars - it plays a very important role. I for one can drive solo and non stop for hours together without switching on the radio in a car. And there is a reason why music industry costs as much! 22B was driven in Intial-D by Mr. Fujiwara Tofu shop owner (so that is that!!!) BUT THAT NISMO GTR !!! Waiting for the last year 2025 to hit State side. Sadly, time moves on w.o giving regards to any one man's desires (a nod to where auto industry is at currently those who come after us may or may not get a chance to sample what it was like). Thanks for sharing this vid.

There is a reason I still have my 4 door Impreza turbo after 25 years. I’d rather spent money to keep this on the road then buying a new and more digital car. Oldschool forever !

Excellent video. So many people must be kicking themselves for not buying an LFA when they were 'cheap.' Major props to Mr Toyota for signing it off though😎

I think what unites these three outside of nationality is that they're all engineering passion projects. The 22B *is not* the necessary homologation special, it was Subaru's victory lap _after_ the GC Impreza's WRC success that they did to relish what they'd achieved. The GT-R NISMO has the weight of ~50 years of competition-bred history on it and a deeply proud team of engineers devoted themselves entirely to making it the strongest possible expression of everything 'GT-R' has stood for. Toyota categorically did not need to do the Lexus LFA at all, but the right people in the right parts of the company at the right time confessed to a dream of biulding the ultimate sports car, and a decade later they gifted the world a supercar that is one-of-a-kind for all time.

That 22B is currently listed in the “Coming soon” category of a well known car collecting website.

I was lucky enough to do a super car track day with multiple cars at Donnington. Driving the Aston Martin Vantage and a Ferrari F430 wasn't much different to driving my own car fast, was in a 330D M Sport BMW with 413lb/ft torque at the time. Held the steering wheel in those cars the same as mine. But when I started to drive the GT-R, I realised it was not a car you can drive normally, I had to grip that wheel hard as it sucked up the horizon under acceleration! It bludgeoned it's way through corners and as James said in the video, I didn't get it either until that day. You had to drive it by the scruff of it's neck. Afterwards I thought to myself that if I ever wanted a brutally capable point to point car, to get me somewhere in a hurry no matter the conditions, I'd get a GT-R.
