Wife drives the UX 250H Lexus, We love the gas mileage and ease of use around town it's solid on the road and quiet, We live in an area that gets lots of winter weather, Ice and Snow tires are a must in Canada once november comes around, yes there is a huge improvement if you have the proper tires especially stopping in cold weather. ( it's all about the tires where we live.) Thanks for showing the cars with all seasons tires in the snow was perfect.

The UX 250 Rear wheels are powered by an electric motor only that disengages after you hit a certain speed to regenerate the batteries. It may be that once it detected the high rpms it shut off to conserve energy. Not sure if that's what happened but certainly a possibility.

It's also because he was on normal mode. He should put sport mode ON so that the electric engines are giving max power all the time

The rear electric motor has only 7 hp of power in the 250h, it can't do much more. In the new ux300h the rear electric motor has about 54 hp, so I think the new one could have a very different behavior on snow
@markmd93 жыл бұрын
I think the rear wheels at the Lexus were working all the time but the rear motor is so weak that it can't spin the wheels so you can see them working, only when some of them got low friction.
@yuridare86702 жыл бұрын
of course! It has 7hp only on rear wheels

Just picked up an UX and came across this video. With the UX, you can see that both front tires are spinning but the car isn't moving even when the rear wheels kick in which means it a tire issue. I'm sure if you got rid of those OEM runflat tires even if go with a different all season tires, the results will probably be better.
@tgan71 Жыл бұрын
The run flats are TERRIBLE unless you are wanting it to perform like an F1 car. I just had two blow out simultaneously on potholes. Pro: was that I was able to limp it home and strip the entire car and have them replaced with real tires without damaging the rim; Con: these tires hit hard like it was a performance tire with 10 PSI too much.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers Жыл бұрын
The problem is that rear barely kicks in. In Volvo it is spinning all the time, in UX rear axle is dead. Tiny 3.9 kW rear electric motor is just a helper, it's operation is very limited.

What’s your opinion about the trunk? Is it really too small? Is this car any good if you have a baby in the back?
@jaywhy20167 ай бұрын
@@snalemsnolek1539 It's a subcompact SUV so it is tiny, but for me, who is semi retired, and it's just me and the wife who mostly drive around in the city, it is perfect. Having said that, this wasn't our first choice. We didn't buy what we wanted, we bought what they had. The hybrid battery and rear motor takes up space so the trunk and rear seats are cramp. If you have a baby, I would move up to a compact SUV, like the RAV4 or if you want a Lexus, a NX.

Rear wheels drive by electric only what if battery empty 😊 . And some cars never let rear wheels spin,but give full traction as Honda ch-r . And this is not for hard off road , but Ux did great. 👍🏽

I also think the rear wheels of the lexus were working, but the motor is not capable enough to make them spin, specially going uphill when they have more load...However i do think that it needs a bigger engine on the rear, 15bhp won't hurt i reckon...

Ux rear wheels are powered by the hybrid system. Note the lexus stopped the harmonic tone in reverse when it started struggling. Never had the issue because thats an unrealistic scenario

Many cars with only small electric motor on the back are not real awd cars. This should have some other name, maybe e-awd or something.

Wow, I just bought a UX and live in the heart of Canada and that was BRUTAL! Good thing I kept my Tacoma for the snowy days. This is the worst AWD performance that I have ever seen. I'd take this vehicle in for service if I didn't know better. That one tire skip that we seen looked like it wanted to work for a split second, then blew its wad and went back to bed.

I own a Lexus ES 2WD and I live in the true-blue SNOW BELT (Geneva, Ohio). we had a huge snowstorm where we got the most snow in the area of 22.5inches of snow. I own a huge house and my driveway is over a football field long. the snow drifts alone were over 36inches deep. My 2wd drive can handle the snow quit well. I drive 85mph when there was slush on I-90 driving my ex girlfriend 50 miles away for her appointment. I make jet engines for the Air Force, Howmet, Boeing, Gulfstream, NASA, etc. and I do not know where this is filmed...but you had the Volvo pack down the snow to develop an icy base and then you tried to drive another car over it. wow. Your vernacular/dialect sounds Russian.

That's just a small hill with a little bit of snow. Average winter tyre and average awd system would be more than enough. Here, Volvo system can at least spin all wheels, Lexus cant.
