I'm sorry but this review doesn't address or give merit to any significant considerations for the average consumer purchasing such a car; fuel economy - majority of users will use this to commute or in inner cities where the hybrid technology is of significant benefit, build quality, reliability and customer satisfaction which is unparalleled to any major competitor. Granted looks are subjective and boot space is rather poor. That being said, to criticise such a car based on a poor lap time is frankly ridiculous. I feel this team are so disillusioned from the considerations of the average consumer that their reviews are invalid and almost laughable.

Can I just say that it's not a CVT box and I don't understand why Toyota insist on saying it is. Disappointed to still see the TV-Friendly explanation of calling Hybrids CVTs... They are absolutely not. Inside the Lexus/Toyota gearbox are two electric motors, and a Ford Model T -like planetary gear set sandwiched inbetween that combines the torque from everything; the large electric motor, the engine, and the secret sauce small motor/geberator that is responsible for starting the 2.0l engine, generating electricity, gear reduction, overdrive and more. Series/Parallel hybrids lads. The biggest issue with Toyota/Lexus hybrids are that its batteries are only 34 - 54 hp, which can feel overwhelmed by its tasks by spinning up the engine and accelerating the motors at the same time whilst under the pedal of demanding drivers - which initially feels like lag and then disconnected cvt groan. A plug-in battery solves that.

My 6 month old UX250h have creaking doors, a rattling driver seat assembly, rattling wing mirror (had to replace the entire assembly), and a brake booster that makes an electromechanical clicking noise whenever the accelerator is depressed. Up till today, Toyota refuses to investigate it. So much for craftsmanship and overhyped ads about takumi mastery. 😕

The First Gen UX is poorly engineered. So is my Third age; REFRESH 2015 LX. Those two models always have issues. Every other Lexus model is bulletproof.
@NTLovesMusic4 жыл бұрын
@Any Name You Wish Badly engineered. Lexus cars aren't built like they are in the past. The new XZ10 ES is also plagued with rattling chairs, malfunctioning parking sensors and creaking door handles. I've kinda came to the conclusion that - don't buy a Lexus that was initially meant as a cheaper Toyota, like the UX, ES and NX. Get a Lexus that uses Toyota's ‘N’ or “New N” luxury platforms (Mark X, Crown, Century), not the ones meant for the budget cars. Even so, a mutual friend's RC350 had his leather seats flaking off prematurely (until it's torn) despite religiously taking care of his vehicle. i.ibb.co/gDg9719/d77e2e2b-7aa5-46c4-80bf-8b73540b8fd3.jpg. As usual, they blame the user. For my accelerator clicking noise, Toyota Motor claims it's clicking volume is "within specifications", despite mine clicking much louder than other UX250h models and refuses to help me. How can the car have left Kyushu factory and the takumi master not notice the noise? There's also a lack in consistency across Lexus's current infotainment systems too. I understand that they have to do an adaptation for different markets. However, for Lexus(s) sold in Southeast Asia, the infotainment systems cannot read any form of stroke characters (Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, etc) which is a joke. A Japanese marque that cannot read it's own homeland characters - 🤦🏻♂️ The lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto retrofitting in Southeast Asia by the dealership (without voiding the warranty) is also missing, and owners who bought MY2019 UX and ES are left to use outdated maps. In-built map updates are ridiculously expensive at $600-700USD per update when other makes can offer for a much lower price. My Volvo offers free for life updates. The design and usability of the infotainment needs work too. I.e - The settings for the tailgate buzzer volume is set via the speedometers, but the opening position is set via remote touch. The buzzer sound when unlocking the rest of the doors are set via remote touch. The settings are scattered all around and finding them can be a hassle until one gets used to it. Anyways, probably the last Lexus for me - at least for the models that started off as a Toyota variant. Overhyped craftsmanship. I'd just buy a Toyota - reliable, value for money, and no exaggerated marketing. Toyota always engineer their cars to be as tough, reliable and as simple as possible. When Lexus touches it, they complicate things and overdo some stuffs, creating new problems. So if you get an IS, GS, LS, LC, LFA, etc - those kinda started out from the drawing board as a Lexus. Toyota developed them for Lexus cars and Lexus designed it ground up. Barely any parts are shared.
