We can go on and on about Barnes, but our Liverpool family really know who Barnes is and how important was to our club, we will always love and remember him. John made Liverpool an international club. He is the reason why Liverpool have the most fans than any other team/club in the world. We never walk alone, every nation we go we have a family. No way Barnes would be worth only 55 million I can tell you that he would be worth a hell of a lot more than that. Say, around the 95 Million mark, even maybe over one hundred million.That is how good he was. If Bale is worth 85 million now, Barnes would have smashed the one hundred million pound barrier no question at all about that.

sole reason I supported Liverpool in the 1st place Barnes was my biggest childhood football idol. not sure if anyone realised how great he would become for lfc in summer 87 but he super surpassed that expectation. was def an important buy for lfc breaking down racial barriers and for Barnes himself to test his ability at a big club. Thanks Dalglish that's your best ever signing maybe suarez comes close. Thanks Barnes for the super memories growing up watching you as a kid

Yeah, the shame of the English managers over the years is that they could not see a way to use these gifted creatives types. And so they tried to turn them into another squadie, a runner, a marthon man, when finess players like Barnes and Hoddle, should have been played as that unknown quantity. You build teams around players like them, you let them have a say on the way they are utilised. You get the rest of the team to understand and interact with them.. The trouble with the typical camp mentality is everyone is training for their place, they are competing with the other player for the same position, hoping to get the nod ahead of the other player. They are each trying to say to the manager, we can play well without x. With that kind of mentality, they aren't looking to pull the best from each other, and so go come the big game they have only that vision created for them by the manager, but little else. They are selected to fit a plan, not for their ability to improvise or think beyond that plan.

Indeed John Charles Barnes will go down as one of Liverpool fc's best players.He was the catalyst&the spearhead of the brilliant Liverpool fc side built by King KENNY for the 1987/88.He fought racism with such class,humility,civility&elegance.He managed to silence the racist bigots &England boo boys with his brilliant footballing brain. Rightly so he was voted the 1988&1990 Footballer of the year.Its a pity Liverpool were banned from Europe 1985-1990.That Liverpool side would have added 1/2 European cup(s).
