The low brightness is not great for viewing HDR content. As I said in your unboxing video, 1,000 nits is where it's at to really notice the difference. The Dell UP2718Q supports that level of brightness, but of course, it costs twice as much. That being said, I'm tempted to pick this up so I can use it with my PC and PS4 Pro. One small thing worth noting is that HDR is only supported over the DisplayPort and HDMI inputs and not USB-C.

You don't know what you are talking about. 1000 nits damages your eyes from 1 metre away
@StReborn3116 жыл бұрын
+Minecrafted So what are you talking about? The Vizio Quantum series sets are hitting 2400 nits, and the standard for Dolby Vision is up to 4000. From what I have read you really need to be over 600nits to enjoy the benefits of HDR from a lighting perspective- 10bit color is the bigger upgrade imho. My current set can peak at around 1800 (from some review sites results). Yes your natural instinct is to turn away from some super bright scenes. IF 1000nits is actually damaging then I do not know how we will be able to enjoy a True Dolby Vision set with 12bit color and 4000 nits capability lol. Happy Viewing

I did buy this Monitor in August but I didn't see this Video which is weird because I am a long time Viewer and usually watch most videos. I am very happy with the display I use it both for Editing (including Color Correction) and some light Gaming. Demanding titles but only in novice mode. I don't see well but in a weird way so a lot of information on a small amount of space is helpful so 4k is better for me than 1080p.. Really funny that you tested this monitor and I bought it independently from that that.

I really like the monitor until I saw the 32/34 inch where the bottom lg bezel in on the stand instead. However, the new ones only have 2 usb c/thunderbolt cables meanwhile this has two hdmi and one usb c. It’s tough man, the 2017 one of the 32 has the design of the new one but with two hdmi and one usb c like this one but still pricey around $700-800. I wish they had a black version of these and not white plastic. Though it’s tempting price wise. I’m in a first world problem where I can’t decide which screen size I really want. If they had the lg name on the stand and not as a bezel for 27’ with one usb c and two hdmi. it would make my decision sooooooo much easier

350 nits is for the 27ud the UK is 450 nits. It was the main difference from last years 4k hdr monitor because it was the main issue people had with it since the hdr was basically non existent in bright images. This one makes still not a true hdr10 nit rate but still much better than 350... it's a full jump up in the hdr nit scale.

I have used a dell u2412m for years and it had some back light bleed when all black. That has never affected my viewing of the monitor in normal use. I have a Samsung TV ks7000 and that has some back light bleed issues that are visible during normal use. IPS for me just doesn't suffer from the same issue.

While the display is usable with Xbox One for Freesync very few games make use of it, the vast majority of titles are capped at 30fps, you need frame rates in the 40-50's in order to benefit from Freesync. The 60fps titles on Xbox can benefit but only a little in scenarios were the frame rate may drop. Games effectively need to be patched to remove frame rate caps when Freesync is active, and you need a Freesync section in the Xbox store as you've no way of knowing otherwise what titles are patched.

@BrewReview4 жыл бұрын
No way to disable power delivery over usb-c on macs unfortunately. I had an issue using it docked and the battery got so thrashed I had to send it in to get a new battery. Luckily if you take advantage of the keyboard recall, a battery will come with that repair as they need to replace the top section anyways so I lucked out, but definitely be wary of keeping a MacBook plugged in for extended use with an external PD compatible monitor.

@uTube007896 жыл бұрын
If you compare PPI of a monitor (even a high quality one like this) to that of a high quality laptop display, it's gonna be low! But you don't sit close to a monitor either like you do with a laptop display. This monitor has very high quality panel, pleasing to eyes. I don't notice any difference clarity wise when I compare them side by side. MacBook Pro display feels a bit more lively, but you have to look carefully to see that. Oh yeah and USB-C is a bliss! Single cable drives my display, keyboard, mouse receiver, speakers, hard disk and charges laptop at the same time!
