I am not totally sure about that yet. They can possibly conform the Plastic OLED onto a glass or they might be able to use a plastic layer itself as the screen cover. The degree of flexibility in upcoming Plastic OLED phone designs I guess depends if they are able to get the right plastic materials to cover the display and still be scratch proof, drop proof, crack proof and etc. The dream with Plastic displays I think is that they should be much more durable than previous glass based displays that shatter way too easily. But you can also see my video with Corning Gorilla Glass and they are also claiming to be doing a lot of work to improve glass durability and they provide solutions to conform the flexible displays to their glass, somehow. Which I think is what Samsung has been doing.
@tachibanahasegawa34807 жыл бұрын
P OLED is Panasonic's product, LG OLED is Panasonic P-OLED screen license LG production, AMOLED and POLED difference is the color deviation / three primary colors half-life gap / manufacturing TV AMOLED technical defects are color cast / red Green and blue three-color diode life short, thousands of hours of AMOLED, Panasonic's first generation of POLED color cast and red and green pixel color half-life is equivalent to LCD TV screen life of 80-90%, so suitable for large-screen TV Machine use, AMOLED is Sanyo and Kodak jointly developed in 2002, OLED technology, Sanyo produced AMOLED TV (40 inches, CES electrical exhibition released this AMOLED TV, but the technology is not mature, short life, Since then Sanyo & Kodak will AMOLED production line and technology patents sold to South Korea's Samsung, which is why Samsung can not manufacture OLED TV screen the real reason

can hdmi and usb devices be easily connected to a tv that thin?
@charbax7 жыл бұрын
I guess it could have a USB Type-C port, which can transport HDMI and USB stuff.. They seem to have some kind of proprietary design for their single cable that goes out of it, which I assume is connected to some kind of box which might have all the HDMI inputs and USB ports as behind any usual TV. Their idea is to have it be very clean and simple you only have the TV with a "hidden" type of cable part of the design coming out of it beneath, but not have tons of cables hanging out of the back of the super flat display.
@AllKinaTing7 жыл бұрын

Ugh why is is so hard for LG to bring an engineer to the booth instead of this clueless guy. No disrespect to him, he's trying his best but it's like he's reading from a brochure! I don't wanna hear the marketing crap, I wanna hear the juicy bits, the why's and how's. For example, why are they STILL spending time developing in-built TV speakers for an £8k 65-77inch TV when I can guarantee that 90% of that user base are going to have their own dedicated speakers which are much better than this? Like, did they even do their market research? All they need to do is sell the TV as a standalone with no speakers and with an LG soundbar as an optional extra. This would lower the base cost price of the TV as they don't need to spend R&D money on gimmicky speakers no-one cares about, meaning the RRP price of the TV would be lower. Then if by chance someone that's buying an £8k TV doesn't already have kickass speakers to go with it, LG can STILL make profit by providing their soundbar as an optional extra at an additional price. Why is that so hard? I just don't get LG's logic. They develop OLED where nobody wants it, but yet fail to provide OLED where people want it the most. Did anyone ask for an pOLED screen on the center console on a car? Have you ever met anyone who has been like "Hey, you know what would be a good idea for a car? an OLED center console duh!" But how many times have you heard gamers crying for OLED monitors? LITERALLY ALL THE TIME! LG would make a killing in the gaming market if they produced OLED monitors. Like seriously, OLED displays have a near instantaneous pixel response time making it PERFECT for gaming monitors. if LG did 30-39inch 4K 10-bit HDR OLED monitors that ranged from curved and Ultrawide, they would absolutely dominate the market and make a fortune. Why are they not doing this? Oh and whose decision was it to make a phone that LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THEIR COMPETITORS PHONE!? Samsung Edge ripoff alert. Oh and why are they going backwards with plastic? Have they not learnt their lesson? In a market dominated by premium materials like aluminium and glass, why are they going back to plastic? They did that with the LG G4 and look how that went in terms of sales.. People want and like to feel like they're holding a premium product. We want the Bang And Olufsen of design which gives finesse, class and quality, not plastic shit. I wish I could go to these conventions and pitch these ideas to their engineers and knock some sense into the design team. I love LG, I even own an LG plasma TV and even my phone is an LG G5, I just don't understand some of their silly marketing decisions and wish they would listen to feedback from their target market.
@charbax7 жыл бұрын
I think on-screen speaker technology could be awesome and shouldn't be reserved for $8K displays, hopefully they can bring it to every $800 4K HDR 55"+ display also. That should be the goal for OLED TVs, they need to get affordable, LG can introduce some techs at higher price of entry but their goal has to be to get the prices to be affordable as soon as possible for everyone to buy, otherwise OLED can't really become successful in the long term. Now I wonder really what the on-screen speaker quality is like compared with regular speaker tech like a sound bar or even compared to my $35 Logitech Z333. Yes I think conformed/flexible displays will be a huge deal for the automotive market. Look at the Tesla, their huge display at the center of the car is awkward but that is at the same time where every car maker wants to go toward. Of course that conformed displays in cars are going to be absolutely fantastic and the whole industry is working very hard to deliver on that for the automotive market as soon as possible. That one shown by LG in my video may be one of the best looking ones I have seen yet. Check my AUO video, it's possible to have plenty low enough response time monitors for gaming with LCD also. Though for sure it'd be nice to see some OLED computer monitors, hopefully they'd have no issues bringing some of those to the market as soon as possible. I also hope they can bring truly flexible plastic OLED phones to the market as soon as possible. Who knows hopefully that Google's upcoming Pixel 2 will have it. Super small bezels and unbreakable flexible display, that would be awesome. Other than to make phones unbreakable using plastic instead of glass, I think the next step may also be to bring massive innovation to the industrial designers of phones who can think up of all kinds of new shapes, where phones won't have to look all the same like bricks anymore in the future. Even if some of the other components can't quite yet be flexible, still I think that a partially flexible unbreakable phone would be awesome.
