LG G4 & R/LGOLED Trolling Exposed

My first OLED was a Samsung S95B and I never connected it to the internet so it was on stock firmware. It looked phenomenal and colors popped out. Sadly the TV got a toy thrown at it and it stopped working. I wanted to try a LG C4 this year when on sale and bought one. The LG C4 has a 3D effect when watching content and looked great but the color gamut was less than the Samsung S95B. The other thing is the aggressive ASBL made the brightness dim constantly which was a deal breaker for me. I kept it for 2 days before I returned it. I’m now waiting for a Samsung S90D to arrive because they have the best vibrancy and brightness on OLED currently. I’ve never tested a Sony OLED but the Sony LED I had was okay with motion just not as punchy with colors as Samsung. I will stick with Samsung QD-OLED.

ive tried all 3 and in my opinion, samsungs motions bothers me the most. Motion on the g4 and a95l seemed a lot better to me. The motion interpolation on the s90d is pretty noticeable, but outside of that and maybe the UI, its pretty darn good.

My retired calibrator told me a few years ago that iPhone color accuracy measures beautifully. You can actually use it to help match your tv to it short of hiring a calibrator.

Hi quantum, I have a s90c 55 inch that I upgraded to from a 55 inch q6fn that I bought in july 2023 with a 2 year geek squad warranty. The tv is wonderful other than a vertical 5 inch wide band on the right side of the tv from top to bottom that you can clearly see in gray scenes and during the ps standby mode. I had a guy from geek squad look at it 5 months into ownership who was probably 50 with glasses and walked with a limp. I watched him pull into the parking lot next to my building that you can clearly see from the street has nowhere to park then back out and drive over the curb trying to park on the sidewalk. He was rude, I had to introduce myself to him and be nice to him! He then denied seeing this top to bottom band in the examples I had for him and as he left he had this horrible cross tattoo on his neck that looked like it was done in prison. I'm thinking about trying again in october now that my store warranty kicks in and try for store credit for a s90d and ask for any one but that guy for a second opinion. Do you think I should do this quantum or try to live with it? Thanks for any advice.

Any photographer will say taking a picture is taken a point in time. It’s not to show how things look the art is using the camera to capture a feeling through adjusting the lighting and speed when the picture taken. The same goes for anyone trying to show the difference of each TV sets unless you’re given the settings. Did the person use the same setting on each set like F4 aperture speed setting 120 Fuji color setting etc. if the camera setting is the same for each set then maybe you get an accurate representation. The other variable is the display and streaming service you’re using when receiving the picture as they offer their own variation. The best way to compare is by going to a TV dealer who will allow you to set each set.

I have an LG G4 83in. I watch all of you videos because im mostly curious what you are going to say and also because im waiting for a day when your favorite TV isn’t a Samsung but I agree with you the Samsung is the better TV for the most part depending on the person. However my G4 calibrated by me using Classy Tech Calibrations settings from last years G3 looks just like your Samsung 99% of the videos 🤷‍♂️ the day Samsung does Dolby Vision (I get they never will but i want the option) and makes a reliable product I would buy it.

Oh i have seen CX in store before getting U8G (Quantum suggested that yr ) so happy with it ! We got 2 TVs from his suggestions. He really Does TELL truth . Good man . The Digital TRENDS ,,,,, TV shootout … all SET up with pre determined WINNER . Like the -- VOICE, American got talent , beauty page t , Modelling coipition …..Often they push ppl that’s told to win or UP Back door . Cuz those shows r FASest way to sway public opinion , n put product /ppl on the pedestals. So those type of set up ⬆️ for Marketing /Advertising is actually COST saving low risk . The Bribe is real ! Quantum haters and people who will inevitably come here from Reddit. You can try out his settings for your LG for a measly $5, he has settings for almost all LG OLED models. Before you make any judgments, just try them because five bucks is nothing. Don't let other people make up your mind for you, I'm telling you man, you'll be glad you did it. I used to be a stickler for 'accuracy' and couldn't bring myself to deviate from it. The problem is, I would always watch his comparison videos and think to myself, 'His settings do look way better.' One day I decided to give them a try, and I've been using them ever since. They are legitimately so much better than the out-of-the-box settings. You spent all that cash on a TV-might as well give it a shot... It's five f@cking bucks.

Maybe something I don't understand, but if a G4 is calibrated, and even with some out of the box settings, I read on lot of reviews that the deltaE difference on any color is less than what the human eye can perceive. So how do you manage to see that the red is more orange than proper red ? Does that mean the calibration is off ?

Today's calibrations are done to make tvs look like they did 30yrs ago under rec.709. That color space has pale ugly red across the board, so no real difference can be seen. But when you go into your colorspace settings, you can see it immediately with native color or anything above rec.709. The delta error percentage refers to the standards of 30yrs ago. Basically no human could see any errors in the colors or greyscale of a tv that has but made to look 30yrs old. This is why you can't see the red differences on anyone else's comparisons. In a word they keep rec.709 color on the tv and i change that immediately, which show who can preform better by a true to life standard i created.

The LG C1 is an amazing tv forreal. I've had the samsung s95c and the samsung s90D currently and also LG c3. I'm telling yall I still look at the c1 and just am wowed sometimes. It definitely beats my c3 atleast for the size of c3 I have

QNED91 2022 does show similar result to that G4 on the right in filmaker mode not at default but reduced colour back to 50, sharpness to 0 and all other are OFF. Difference is minuscule between QNED91 and G4 for colour things.

Here’s the problem. Manufacturers don’t need to spend money on R&D to make the technology better. All they need to do is spend money on paying off novices with heavy followings such as KG, digital trends and others. And all they really need to do is create a media narrative that their product is the best and thus create a massive cult following that is literally systemic. Sadly, qd oled will suffer sales wise and Samsung at the end of the day, only looks at their sales numbers and don’t be surprised if they pull the plug on qd oled and shift focus to low end LEDs again which make them the highest margins. We’re looking at tv dark ages coming again, starting when qd oled gets its plugged pulled and the next 10 years of lg fanboys gloating how the new model is “lg’s best ever” cause nothing will come out that will compete with their 15 year old tech once qd oled is gone. Just like Apple

LG superfans remind me of the AMD patriots who are mostly alike. I am not a fan of a brand, but of tech and fidelity. I have a 4090, not because I could've paid a few bucks less for a 4080 comparable AMD brand, but because NVIDIA has superior features and raytracing. I got the S95D over the A95L, G4 and QN900D not due to it being a bit cheaper, but because it was the best TV for what I do - gaming.

Never seen elevated black on any QD-OLED but the S95D, which was due to the matte finish screen

Only time I ever experienced any “elevated” blacks on my QD-Oled’s, was when bright sunlight was directly on it, other than that, no problem. If you actually owned one, you would already know this…😉

Sorry man, not sure what kind of settings you’re using, didn’t watch the all video ,but I have the Lg G3 in cinema mode and doesn’t look anything like that…watching now the scene 4:00 minute, the lady playing the piano, on your video looks pale and dull, …..on mine ,colors are vibrant and brightness is fantastic…..the overall picture is stunning, to say the least. I had the S95C for 2 months and brought it back….didn’t like the image processing. True, colors were more vibrant, but couldn’t stand the green ….sooooo cartoonish. The G3 gives me joy….every single day. Old technology? Bah…we have many examples where new technologies didn’t mean necessarily better.

What color do you have it set at. plus what color gamut are you using? For reference I use an LG CX 55 with BT.2020 in SDR with color set to 40 that gives more real color on people's faces where you can see the blood underneath there skin

TV of LG QNED91 agreed with that LG G4 in that video. Its at auto colour gamut. And thats pretty much correct in filmaker mode. Nothing oversaturated of red.

Cinema mode isn't very good, I have colour 66, cold 0-warm 10, native/dynamic colour, it doesn't look oversaturated. I did much prefer the S95D in store to any preset on my G3 including the one I use myself. It looked super realistic and bright.

I got the s95d I figured out how to get bt2020 it really saturates but I like my pictures filled with color the only thing I don’t like I have another 65” Samsung 8k in the same room and the remote tires on both tv I have separate remotes but I do like that the remote charges with solar power or c port

This guy quantum is full of his own self importance! He's just trying to be controversial for the sake of it! I have an lg c2 and no way does red look as washed out as that! Can only imagine it ll be even better on the g4! I wish he'd stop harping on about quantom dots and lg woled being old tech! The colours are bright and vibrant on my c2 and seen the g4 in stores and it looks amazing! Plus black levels don't wash out like they do when light hits it like it does qd oled!
