Well - Yes, so the LG V40-STAB it's almost the same cameras setup. V50 Snapdragon 855 and V40 845 snapdragon. BUT lg V40 has more bands (66-71) just way more 4G LTE bands, LG V50 has stupidity design - no barely 4G LTE bands but it got a spanky new 5G,.. now go ahead and wrap your head around that ones? Another stupid move on both company Tmobile wasn't pushing for an LG V50,. So you gotta either hunted down an Europe or Korean unlock (maybe supposedly factory) model W/no 5G.

Really leaning towards an LG, which is surprising me. But my biggest uses are audio, (including wired audio), still photography, and social media, and my dealbreakers are bloatware and screen vibrancy/resolution. My Galaxy s7 has spoiled me with a pretty screen but 3 years on i'm deeply resentful of the carrier and Samsung OEM apps (leaving me with triplicates when i add a version i actually like!) taking up an unconscionable amount of its storage. LG seems a little more reasonable there. I'm a little wary of not getting timely software updates with LG, so I think my next choice might be Nokia and they're missing a host of midrange options that have the 3.5mm jack in the united states and I'm not sure I'm committed enough to import. I liked your G8 videos a lot, I guess I'll have to sit tight as you work with it for a while and see if I should go for V50 instead.

In terms of focus peaking, I've found that there are only two phones capable of doing that, while reviewing them, and that's Xiaomi Mi 9 and LG V40. Such a useful feature. But in an age where Samsung takes away manual video controls (including the latest greatest Note 10), and companies like LG Mobile and Sony lay off their mobile division staff, it doesn't look like manual controls are here to stay. It would be great if at least Filmic Pro, would work as good on Samsung phones as it is on iPhones, LG and Sony (Xperia 1) handsets, but it is what it is. Great video man.

Good video but you missed a few points for the Xperia. Didn’t touch on the picture profiles which can change the look of video, or demonstrate what HLG video looked like once it was graded, or if the LG even shot HDR Or what it’d look like. People interested in making content won’t just staple together raw videos without applying some color grading or look. Seems like an incomplete comparison...
@TheFPSPower5 жыл бұрын
LG also has picture profiles, quite a lot of them, you can color grade the video however you want, and the LG does shoot in HDR, I have all of that in the V30, so I expect even better from the V50. He can't show you an HDR sample in this video because all of it would have to be HDR and would look bad for people who don't have it. Maybe he can upload a sample of each phone.
@rm18251145 жыл бұрын
TheFPSPower it doesn’t have to be raw HDR but something graded to look like it? And I wouldn’t know the LG had picture profiles because that area was completely omitted from this video. It would be nice to see what those looked like because I’ve seen the ones on the Xperia and they look cinematic.

Given that it doesn't operate the tele in manual, I think Note 20 is still the best option as you can get Moment case, ND filters (very important, especially without light leaks) and various lenses from Moment. With AIS+OIS. If Samsung had all 3 lenses on, with LG's app like control, and 10 bit video, or even raw, then they'd cannibalize the world of phone content creation (but stupid is too stupid to know they're stupid - at least let 3rd party apps do their own thing). Whatever Samsung doesn't give me I can get with mcpro24fps/filmicpro/Moment (and a half a bag of moneeeeh).

Hey Juan great video. Need some help. I need a jack that will allow me to record from my keyboard direct into my v35. The recording app that comes with it allows me to do it, but the option comes on only for a moment and then disappears when I plug in my jack. Any ideas or work arounds?

I agree, companies are just oversharpening and oversaurating picture calling it ai😬😬😬. At the end of the day people like us hate those overprocessed pictures 😒

I think most folks skip those modes. I see my friends shooting a TON to get one IG photo. Then they edit with filters, and might do some light editing to "facetune" or body warp. They don't care at all about photography terminology, but they're doing some advance editing. AI mode just gets in the way for them too.

Hey Juan, don't you use the GH5? Do you not use shutter angle on it? Anyways, I think LG seriously is the only one with a pretty good camera, whether its photo or video, manual or auto mode. Mostly because it is pretty consistent.
@SomeGadgetGuy5 жыл бұрын
I use the G9. It only describes shutter speed as a fraction ot a second not as a degree or completion of a rotation.
@ZulqarnainAidil5 жыл бұрын
@@SomeGadgetGuy ah, that makes sense, since it's more focused on photography, it wouldn't have the nice little features. But even then, most camera manufacturers that want to show off video features don't even give you shutter angle as an option. I was so happy to find it on the GH5

Have you found a way to get rid of some of the red hue on the Xperia 1 in lowlight shots? Is it software? Do any third party apps correct the issue?
@iankelly40085 жыл бұрын
I feel torn because I had a bad experience with the g3. And I had a great experience with my Xperia T. Plus LG is horrendous for Android updates. And Sony is much better for that. Not to mention I'm on TMobile and I wouldn't to buy it with the secondary screen in any USA market. .

Good work Juan. We need more reviews like this. Thanks for bringing up the 21:9 limitation of Cinema Pro. It's a huge problem for trying to create standard 16:9 KZbin content.

I've found my 2012 macbook pro's weakness. 2160P 60FPS 4K video. The dedicated card was only a slight improvement over the integrated graphics but both were unwatchable.

Focus peaking, this is the feature I'm missing on my Xperia 1. I don't use Cinema Pro honestly, but for stills, I can sometimes wish it was here. Something funny though is how these 2 phones are well under the radar for a lot of people, but they're so good, not following the trends that a lot are trying to set as the standard (HDR everything for example).
@SomeGadgetGuy5 жыл бұрын
Especially when HDR got really good on the G8 and V50, they have dedicated night modes for ALL rear lenses, and you still have manual controls for photos and videos. Then techies shrug and say "b-b-b-but Samsung is more popular".
@lionelb82275 жыл бұрын
@@SomeGadgetGuy Absolutely, some don't even check what they have in terms of settings, or don't take the time to. For example, the HDR is very different between Superior Auto and Manual mode on the Sony, or there is a setting for lens distortion correction but I read reviews saying "lens correction is bad"... Sure, there's maybe less people interested in these phones, but that doesn't excuse the poor reviews they're getting, that's about the quality of the work you want to deliver.

Thx for covering these subjects no one cares on the Ytb area, & that few would cover properly anyway ;) I generally have to go on stores & investigate into the expo models, to discover what's there, & what's not... Of c, LG is in none of those stores, so that's why we're here ^^ Since in EU, LG is playing with our patience like ghosts in Packman, I chose the S10 for specific reasons, & I'm h... not fully happy, but I find the overcomings to every quirk, ending up with a pretty nice set of productivity. For Instance, I will buy an app I didn't want to so far, to get full manual controls on other phones than the kings in this video: Filmic pro. Pricey, buggy for many according to reviews on the PlayStore, yet now the compatibility improved with Galaxy's, so I'll give it a shot, as I found no reliable alternative, & it still allows most of what I'd get with the V50 or Xperia 1 (except audio quality of LG, but the DAC is decent, & I have extrnl XLR mic so I'll live with that; + I've the V20 for audio only situations, eventually).

Seems LG never get to mention these days except for your channel and that's a shame. While the likes of Samsung do a way with any pro mode in video and get all the Limelight and reviews along with other manufacturers that do nothing Pro in video capture.

Thinking about getting LG V35 refurbished, seen some going for 200-250$, considering it has snapdragon 845 and price is so low. Maybe i should give it a shot ? currently using Pixel XL, software is the only strength. I thought Gcam is beast, but i miss my LG G4 with V10 app ported. and i would say Lg was better. Pixel has video focus problems and hard time focusing in low light.
