I am Japanese. I bought QTJ1, QTJ2, QQLS and QNCT and verified them on ASUS and GIGABYTE motherboards. The 100 series chipsets may not achieve maximum performance with 8 cores due to insufficient VRM capacity. When I tried QQLS with GA-Z170N-Gaming 5, the power turned off without permission. The TDP setting is 150W. With the Z370M D3H, I was able to overclock up to 4.8GHz when I set the TDP to 150W or higher.

@@Miyconst Thank you very much for your work - it's great watching your reviews of "unusual" hardware from China :) I own an ASRock Z170 Gaming K4/D3 motherboard that currently runs I7 6700K with 32GB of DDR3 RAM. I'm thinking I could extend the lifetime of that platform with one of the Mutant CPUs but I cannot make up my mind on which one to buy - QQLT, QTJ2, QQLS or QTJ1. I couldn't find any details, but VRM on the motherboard and its cooling look solid, so it could possibly handle the 8c/16t variants (without overclocking). @Yuuki Honda: Do you think that QTJ1 is worth the $30 extra over QQLS? I hope that @Miyconst, you will be able to compare both :) I'm also not sure if my cooling (SilentiumPC Grandis 2) isn't too heavy for these CPUs, as it weights around 1kg...
@Miyconst3 жыл бұрын
@@maciejzieba1982 in my opinion QTJ1 is surely not worth the extra 30 Euros, but it's the best CPU you can get for the motherboard. I would go with QTJ2 or QTJ1, depending on the games and tasks, but there is nothing wrong with QQLT / QQLS either. It's really hard to say about the cooler. Those giant ones usually have very solid mounting mechanism and in that case it won't do much harm to the CPU, but a water cooler would be better, as it doesn't apply that much breaking pressure to the motherboard and CPU when motherboard is in vertical position.
@mrqou3 жыл бұрын
@@maciejzieba1982 It's a motherboard with a very nice VRM. Japanese people like MicroATX, so I didn't know that there was a good motherboard with 100 series chipsets. If you have that much VRM, I think it will work. You may also be able to try overclocking. (However, with 100 chipsets, it may not be possible to overclock by the number of cores. In that case, Intel XTU will be used) QTJ1 has excellent processing power per clock. Tells the value of CPU-Z without overclocking. QNCT 2586/370 QQLS 4482/468 QTJ2 3569/494 QTJ1 5206/494 Even if you don't overclock, increase the power supply (TDP) in the BIOS. With the default setting value (45W), the CPU clock drops to 2.0GHz when the iGPU and CPU are fully loaded. I tried a water-cooled cooler and a small air-cooled cooler. Your CPU cooler is a screw type, so I feel like I can go. (Lever type like AMD is likely to chip the core due to careless pressure) As a side note, there is a metal guide around the CPU core.

The memory controller being crap isnt because of the chips binning, but because of the LGA1151 adapter substrate they use. Early revisions of these LGA1151 mutants couldnt even do PCIe 3.0, you had to set 2.0 in bios to get the boards to post. Sellers noted it was because of the substrate and they were working on getting higher quality ones made to allow for use of PCIe 3.0. With how sensitive DDR4 has been in my experience, I have no doubt this is the reason you walled off at below stock memory controller speeds.

@Miyconst3 жыл бұрын
Hm, I am not so sure how you came to that conclusion. The quad core i5 is simply not able to handle many modern games at all.

@@Miyconst Well that's what I understood from some of your benchmarks. @Miyconst3 жыл бұрын
It depends on how you count the "upgrade". There are still many single threaded games, which don't benefit from six cores, thus the overall FPS difference is not that big, still many modern titles are simply not playable with the quad core i5.

@@Miyconst So after a few days toying with my QQLT, I found that the major issue it has is clearly memory bandwidth limitations due to poor memory controllers. The fact that for me I can't get my QQLT past 2666MHz CL12 (which is already quite better than what you had) while the 6600k didn't have any restrictions means that it introduces memory bottleneck in some instances. It seems like many DX11 and Vulkan title have the issue, while DX12 games don't have it. Some emulators I use also have less performance than the 6600K because of that, which is a bummer. But the QQLT is already so much better for professional workloads, handbrake, and even Windows feels snappier. I feel like I'll keep the QQLT for this usage and buy me a 5600x or what's next on the X600x line of CPUs from AMD in a few years for my main PC build. If you have two M.2 slots on the motherboard - you don't have to do anything extra. The memory timing of the 8-core QTJ1 and QQLS is very severe. It is the result of buying the recommended memory of the Chinese site and trying it with Z370M D3H. QQLS operates at 2400MHz with up to two memories. With 4 memories, it is 2133MHz. QTJ1 operates at 2133MHz with up to 2 memories. 4 sheets do not move. It may work below 2133MHz. At first glance, QTJ1 seems to be disadvantageous, but the heat generation is much lower than QQLS (about -20 degrees), and although it has the same clock, it gives good benchmark results.

I have the same motherboard and I bought the QQLT before watching this video. Unfortunately this motherboards VRM's are not the best ones and I heard they can only provide 80A current so that explains why you had problems with 8 cores. I think it will also cause problems with QQLT if I try to overclock it close to 5GHz but I will still try. Another thing is these CPU's are designed to work with only 2 channels so filling all ram slots might be the reason of your low max frequencies. I wonder how much it will boost the performance of my system but I doubt it will be high after watching this because my i5 6500 is overclocked at 4.5Ghz (by BCLK) and my rams are overclocked to 3000mhz. But I thing it will be a good future proofing for this system if I desire to upgrade my GTX1060 in the future. Since second had i7 6700k is more expensive than this I thing it is a good deal. It will be definitely a good challenge for me to get the best overclock from this. BTW what cooler you recommend because my current one is not suitable for bare die cooling, I have Noctua D14 in mind.

Even though I changed the thermal pads with high quality ones in cinebech VRM temperature goes up to 100C, much higher than what it should be. CPU consumes around 93W at 4.6GHz without increasing the Vcore values. What was your VRM temps is there a way to fix it. The place around VRM section is quite small so I cant add any fans on it.

@@Miyconst You are right I actually put two 4cm fans on the VRM. It handles normal use just fine. For example gaming is an easy task so it stays below 60C. But when multiple Cinebech test run, it slowly increases to 95C. I am ok with it since I don't do such demanding tasks daily but it was kinda sad to keep the CPU at 4.5GHz while knowing it can handle more just fine and I paid a lot for a nice CPU cooler. There is very bad VRM on this motherboard. If I knew this I would get a overkill Asus z170 from that era instead of this hot garbage. CPU pulls 100W at 4.5GHz all cores I think a normal supported i7 7700K for example can easily exceed that when overclocked so it is the motherboard itself causing the problem. All CPU voltages were left on default, except QLLS worked with -50mv offset which let it maintain higher frequency within TDP limit. RAM CL14 XMP profile was loaded, so the voltage was 1.35v.

@@Miyconst If you plan to ever do extra content on these CPUs then looking into memory would be a huge thing. Having max of seems like 2900MT/s for most of the lucky people is pretty low (let alone total average is like 2700MT/s - 2800MT/s). These can go from being for a super budget option to being better then an 11400f if one can do 3600MT/s+ freq once you alter voltages (better mostly due to being unlocked core/uncore/direct die cooling for cheaper). To give a bit of perspective, 10400f on 2666MT/s mem is quite terrible and fair bit worse then a R5 3600 on 3200MT/s. However a 10400f on 3200MT/s is better then a R5 3600 on both 3200MT/s and 3600MT/s (that is if all dimms are on stock everyday timings, so ignoring say a 3600-12-13-13-20-38 kit and such - as in the expensive and uncommon stuff). I want to get some info on this as people dont really seem to say what voltages they ran so it's unknown as to whether it was stock or not modified that well.

@@PhantomMattcraft I don't think you will be able to get much out of these memory controllers. Hmmm i believe you don't notice but you had a thermal throttling with mobo that affects the performance of QQLT and QQLS because in all other tests i've seen they are far ahead from QTJ2 there is something wrong with the results doesn't make sense they are clocked higher and the ipc gain from the coffee lake to this coffe-comet lake should be minimal.🤔 You can see here in 16:24 the xeon v3 in a game that do not use so much the cores getting better results than the Qqls that is newer better ipc more ram frequency clocked 4,5ghz doesn't make sense at all.
@Miyconst3 жыл бұрын
Neither of the CPUs were throttling in games, both were running stable 4.5 GHz. My QQLT is a bad sample which does only DDR4-2400. Of course, the issue can be caused by the motherboard, but then it's hard to explain why QTJ2 was not throttling while consuming more than QQLT. Cinebench results also prove that QQLT didn't throttle. QQLS was limited to 90 Watt, as I have specified in the video.
