I must say, looking at it, skateboard physics must be quite a complex thing to pull off in a game, the way they use inertia to defy gravity briefly to achieve tricks. It must take some very clever programming. But this is terrible, they can't even get the proportions right, look at how huge the stairs and benches are compared to your character. Speaking of which, I've got a unfinished press copy of the original Tony Hawk's somewhere, literally unfinished, like some levels are only half complete, so you'd suddenly fall off into the abyss. 'll have to dig it out and do a video on it someday.

Believe it or not, but you can actually find the soundtrack to this game on Bandcamp. The band that did most of the music in the game is a terrible garage rock band called pferd. They actually refer to themselves as "comedy" music, but I consider it "Oh my God! Why did I have to search for this shit to see if it actually existed!? I wish I was dead!" music.

(Tony Hawk’s Extreme Boards and Blades) A little late to the party on this one...I chuckled when I noticed the lanky gentleman half out of frame (and focus for that matter) is Tony Hawk. A picture of the Birdman mid varial-flip with the Activision logo plastered next to him had me at THPS before I realized this isn’t that. I feel like the very image they cut him out of is used on one of the real tony hawk pro skater box arts somewhere...that could just be how synonyms Hawk and Activision have become to me.

Man. I remember my grandma buying me this game at KB Toys when I was a child. I was so excited to visit her once a weekend because she would buy me some cheap PC video game to play on her cheap PC. This was one of the games, along with Total Annihilation. It's nice to load these games up time to time to take a trip back. I miss and love you grandma.

I unfortunately had to experience the horror of this game during christmas day... Some of my family must have been playing a prank on me. To make it worse, it was a double pack with this and Extreme paintbrawl. Christmas is forever scarred! :'(. One interesting thing to note was my version didn't have the Mountain Dew sponsorship, though it might be because mine was a UK copy?

Fun Fact: this game came out on my fifth birthday. That year I got a PS1 game called "street sk8er" (yes the 8 is suppose to be there). It was a simple skating game with some ska tunes in the soundtrack. While one could easily argue the game aged poorly, you can at least still have a little fun with it today....more so than this game, which you could never have fun with.

Les Claypool and The Melvins getting together and covering Anthrax songs while tweaking on meth would probably end up with a better soundtrack. Les Claypool actually has a background in thrash metal. It's not very well known that he played bass in a thrash band called Dark Angel before starting Primus.

I actually spent a lot of time back as a kid trying to play boards and blades 2, if I remember right it actually worked pretty well, but I wasn't able to play it how it should have been due to an under specced laptop. Would love to see a review of the second.

Headgames made GearHead Garage though. The most indepth and detailed game of its time. Up until car mechanic simulator recently, it was the only mechanic simulator. I remember playing it on my grandparents windows 95 computer as a kid whenever I would stay over. It prettymuch got me hooked on mechanical and automotive stuff. You can't really say that all of their games were poorly made. There's always a gem I'm the pile of rocks.

GearHead Garage was made by Mekada, actually. HeadGames/Activision had nothing to do with its development that I can tell, they simply published it. Also, I didn't say they never published anything good, I just said that they had a horrible reputation, mainly because of their "Extreme" series of games.

This game apparently came out only a couple months before THPS1. This came out in May, 1999, THPS1 came out in September. This shit is to Pro Skater like what Hydlide is to Zelda.
