K-pop entertainers are the most exploited entertainers in the world. (Like baseball players in the U.S. before 1967.) They need a union. They need to organize. They need power. Especially women in the industry.
@LunarHexus4 жыл бұрын
First, all of the double standards need to stop. Period. Women in K-Pop need to be treated as equals to their male counterparts. While yes, the boys do diet and while they do need to maintain a certain physique (maintain a certain ‘standard’), it’s even worse for women within the K-Pop industry because they are heavily scrutinized moreso than the boys. They’re held to a ridiculously higher standard in that they have to look a certain way, they can’t be too “overweight” but they can’t be “too skinny” either. It’s like they’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t. They’re expected to be skinny, perfect Barbie dolls with a pretty face, flawless hair, straight teeth, an hourglass figure and legs for miles. When the reality is, not every girl can be a size 0 or a size 4. Period. On the same note too, the women within the K-Pop industry are highly sexualized and openly objectified by their labels, they’re often used as sexual bargaining chips to earn favor with certain investors. Even some of the camera crew have zoomed in on them from inappropriate angles during live performances, and it’s that type of behavior that needs to stop. I love K-Pop, it is my favorite genre of music, however it has a very dark underbelly and it’s negatively affecting the artists. The industry needs to change.

You know what I hate. When Kpop idols take their lives and people coming together to support and preach anti-bullying but then a week later, go back to hating and judging other idols. It’s a vicious cycle that needs to end. Idols aren’t perfect. They change. They make mistakes (genuine mistakes), they apologise for them, they try to make up for them and yet people just don’t forgive. They have love lives, they want something different in their lives and yet that is wrong? I hate the kpop community. I hate how toxic and obsessive they are. I hate that people get so riled up about idols dating. I hate that people can’t express themselves the way they want. I hate how stupid cancel culture is. I hate how people just hop on the hate wagon when it’s convenient. Idols are humans. They aren’t play things, they don’t serve you, they aren’t going to be exactly who they are on camera. It's like " WHAT DO YOU WANT???" These new groups are starting to debut and their fandoms are already starting fanwar like Treasure and Enhypen and other fandoms. @@manovimaindad805 Not anymore, but it was really bad years ago. She had always gotten hate (still does, just less and more lowkey) because: resting bitch face + savage moments + yG pRInCeSs!1!!, but at one point she had a HUGE hate bandwagon. So bad, that almost everyone had this notion that it was normal to hate her, like it was just common sense that she was a bitch. Defending her or praising her was a nightmare, we would just get bullied by everyone, starting with most people in our own fandom (real OT4s are a minority). It was devastating and also scary because of the suicides in kpop idols who had gone through something similar. It was a really awful time. I know this already got very long, but I just want to mention that, when Jenkai was exposed to the public in the middle of that mess, a lot of exols made a genuine effort to get to know the real Jennie and supported and protected her (even from our OT1/2/3 "blinks"), even after the break up. They were like "don't worry blinks, we will protect Jennie

the reason why i think most idols dont speak out is because they were brainwashed from a very young age (11-13) that this is the way..this is the exact blueprint of how to make ur dreams come true..and they train you..break your spirits for YEARS until they debut (or not) finally and why would they dare speak out now? especially in such a competitive field. Why would they speak out and risk getting everything they worked their whole youth for just for that to potentially get thrown away? its a fucked system.

yep, idols and public in general. I remember that a few months ago, i saw a video, about an idol whose was praised because she practiced, even againts doctor recomendations. All the comments said that she was so professional and all of that, but I commented, that this type of behaviours sometimes are the cause that some idols cant completely heal their injuries.Society in general are brainwashed and praise when someone work, even when they shouldnt. Taking some time is a responsability with your own body and letting a person to take some time for their own health should be another type of support. But well, i only received comments telling me how bad I was because I pointed that instead of seeing how commited she was with her dream. 🙄

It cost nothing to keep your mouth shut and said nothing instead of hurting others just to satisfy yourself. When it comes to Sulli, I would always shocked by her transformations. But most of it was out of respect and I was proud of her because she did what she thinks the best for herself. The group comebacks that were critisized, how she move on from the gossip of her past relationship and how she changed into a mature actress. They're all achievements. RIP Sulli.. This situation has to be “Talked about and exposed”. The family members need to ask if these young people are being treated with respect. The bullying that just was exposed by another female KPOP group..the management and HR Director should be more aware of the signs. SAD 😢. Sorry for this young lady’s friends and family.

They consented to do their dream job but they didn't know what they had to go through. I mean it's undeniable that Kpop fans expect these kinda stuffs from their idol. They expect their idol to be this super perfect God and goddess, which is not okay. They're humans too. If fans don't complain about their weights, their looks, their skin tone, their facial proportions, etc., probably they can do their job without these billsh*t pressure. Popstars don't feel that much pressure about their looks cause they're doing music and not modeling but Kpop stars are expected to be all in one. Why? Because of the expectations of the Kpop fans. They're basically the puppets of their company who are manipulating them what to do and what not. Kpop is just toxic. Kpop is basically just feeding the Kpop stars and also slowly eating them. That's really creepy.

2:26 guys she has a point now that I think about it. K pop is good you know but not until you start going more deep and at some point it becomes creepy and frustrating. I have been an ARMY for almost 1 year now and honestly sometimes I just feel like leaving the fandom obviously I will still listen to BTS' music and enjoy wholeheartedly but not go any futher. You know when stanning an artist you just start envolving in the fandom at some point. I know the fandom has unity but there are *way too many* toxic ARMYs in the fandom as well. But still I haven't figured it out yet. PS: I am *not hating on any artist* or dissing any fandom it's *just my opinion* but still if you stan any k pop group you will relate to many things that I just talked about, not just BTS but the whole k pop industry has a dark side to it (if you have been stanning k pop for some time now you will have an idea about what I am taking)

The sad thing is that this is the music and entertainment industry in general. It creates this unattainable image for not only the public but for the celebrities themselves. It's unfortunate that people can't be appreciated for their talent alone, and that fans think they own these people. No fan has the right to tear down another artist or group to build up who they support. Just like their art and let them live their lives freely. I do applaud Amber for speaking out because it had to be really difficult, and what she did was very brave.

As weird as it sounds, I feel like a boycott against the whole industry until they treat every group of both male and female artists equally and ETHICALLY!!! Yes, ethically. As sad as it sounds, it’s the truth. Both sides face a lot that we don’t know about but I feel like females get it the hardest because of stricter standards to make them look “perfect” in a way. Also, agencies need to be stricter on protecting their idols. There is so much hate and toxicity going on for countless years towards idols and they still face it towards disgusting fans everyday and it shocks me how ruthless these people are. It’s like Jonghyun, Sulli, and Goo Hara was not enough for these disgusting imbeciles to take a step back and realize how damaging their actions are towards these HUMANS.

The fact is Kpop industry responded to the consumers and fans needs. Most of products and markets also do the same as well. Most of fans support idols who looks like ideal and perfect person (most of them did plastic surgery and always/often have the same (boring) pose / response and personality like they are manufactured person who represent to ideal people) That's why I never follow any trends and never support those kind of things. I don't anti plastic surgery and skinny BUT I don't support either. I support real artists and respect them as human being. Most of people don't realize what they actually support. They said because those famous people are talent 😏 There are tons of talent people in kpop Industry and this world who don't have beautiful look to meet this social expectations and they don't even get recognized their talent. Some famous idols right now, they don't even make their own songs or do things by themselves, like Amber said. They were told to do and people love them and support them. They did plastic surgery >> people like them and support them They have skinny shape >> people like them and support them They have bright skin >> people like them and support them What and how entertainment industry will do when people support idols like those? And idols who suffered from this society are people who tried to live their own life, make their own things and being themselves. This is fu**ing ridiculous and hilarious.

This is consistent with the entertainment industry as a whole. Everyone knows the dark side of Seoul and Hollywood now. It is not about any one nationality... it's about profiteering and greed, and the ruthless competition between capitalist markets. K-pop fans please advocate for the rights of entertainers and artists and working people, not just in Korea but in your own country. But first of all keep looking after yourself and the people around you. Most people these days are just scared and don't know what to do. And that's okay, we just have to keep living and keep fighting.

All of this aside, I'm so glad to see Amber just doing her thing now and being her true self. I've never considered myself a big kpop fan as I just like some songs every now and then and don't follow certain artists everywhere. There's something about kpop that doesn't make me want to call myself a fan. The industry is obviously a big problem, I understand they want the artists to look good and that there are certain expectations and that's okay... to some extent. The way it is right now is just not good, it's not healthy and certainly not something to look up to for young girls who want to become artists one day. Besides that the whole kpop fandom is also so extreme, the idea of being a "stan". It's great to support your favorite group, there's nothing wrong with following them and being hyped for new songs or recommending them to friends. But that's not my experience with it, the fandom is extreme as well, and sometimes downright toxic...
