Unlike The Last of us the Fallout TV series is not an adaptation of a certain Fallout game but an adaptation of the world. Showcasing the Fallout universe through a live action tv series that's telling it's own story following a series of original character introduced with this series. This includes many original locations as well such as the Three Vaults (Vault 31, 32, 33) and other locations as well. Fallout 1/2 along with Fallout New Vegas are all set on the West Coast so they'll have more connections to this show in terms of local history, factions, and locations. I like that this isn't an exact aptation/retelling of one of the games stories, rather that this TV show has it's own story in the Fallout universe, which can also be built in the canon. Like it's not that much fun just practically watching someone else "play" it instead of doing it myself. So I prefer different stories made in the universe of the games, like the Dragon Age show on Netflix (I think that was nicely done too).

Yes! Watch the whole series. It is true to the game, but a brand new story. There are things that players will recognize immediately. The device on her wrist is called a pip-boy. The injection she gave herself is called a stim-pack. It's a health restoration in the game.

The entire production and writing team are fantastic -- I've watched hours and hours of interviews and behind-the-scenes things, and so many people got into the research behind this and really got into the world. Even if they didn't play the games, they still watched videos and did their homework etc.

Every game starts differently, and you create your own character. They all begin roughly the same though. Something catastrophic happens, and you have to leave the safety of your vault for the very first time. This is an excellent show too! Fun fact. The actress who plays Lucy is actually British.

No spoilers but background info - The Fallout universe is an alternative timeline to our own that diverges after WW2. In the Fallout universe, the transistor/computer chip isn't invented until much much later, which is why all the tech has a retro, vacuum tube, look. Instead, they go all in with atomic energy. Also, the Cold War is against China rather than the Soviet Union. The big nuclear war takes place in October 2077.

The Last of Us games are a specific, linear story in the game so the adaptation, while they made some changes and adjustments for telling it thru tv, is pretty straightforward like how you approach adapting a play or book. The Fallout games each tell different stories. The world is a bit more of a sandbox to play in for each new piece of content. So they've included the world lore and factions and tropes of the games, but this story is original and, according to the creators, canon to the Fallout world. Totally different vibes and ways of storytelling, but I really enjoyed them both so I hope you have a good time with this one, too!

Fantastic show. It is very violent and bloody, but it's totally worth it. Especially if you can find humor in the gore, which the show tries to do. That's one of the biggest strengths of the show and the games it's based on. That juxtaposition of comedy and violence.

fallout is wild. really wild. Exaggerated violence, inappropriate dark humor and completely crazy people. crying and laughing are very close together here. And all of this is rounded off with what is probably the most beautiful soundtrack of all time. I've loved the franchise since Fallout 2 and I'm excited about the hype it's getting right now. From a storyteller's point of view, Fallout is perfect, you can tell any story. Wild West with zombies and aliens, criminal cases (Nick Valentin from Fallout 4 is simply the best detective of all time) romantic comedies or, rather, Terminator, everything is possible in Fallout. There is no reason to criticize strong women or anything woke about them, everything fits perfectly into this world.

Yes, everyone likes the show and it does tie everything together in episode eight finale, there is going to be a season two. There is quite a twist in the story that definitely will surprise. "Hence" and "Tits up" I love your language, British English is so very beautiful and expressive. Now you are young, to those of us growing up during The Cold War that intro is what we feared would happen- every day. But we lived our lives. When I teach my The History of The Cold War classes, I always start by showing them a five minute video of nuclear explosions with eerie music, to make your generation understand what it all was- and what you will have to get used to again with Putoloni's sabre-rattling (though he is too much of a coward to do it). During the Cold War, the USSR was planning to open the war by dropping 600+ merely on my little Denmark. The game is set in an alternative timeline, where the transistor was never invented, so everything used vacuum-tubes like early computers. And thus the timeline starts diverging from ours in the year after WW2, and progress is generally much slower. But there is also no Cuban Missile Crisis, Long Island, etc, and no reckoning with its past, so the US carries on in a sort of Truman-Eisenhower Superamerica with nuclear powered cars, etc. But in the 21st century fossil fuels and other resources starts running out, and The Resource Wars starts; where Europe, Africa and The Middle East is torn apart, and China invades Alaska to get the last remaining oil resource on the planet. And in 2077... Boom. And oh yea, the US turns authoritarian semi-Fascist, a bit like Starship Troopers. Anyway, think of the game and series as set in a sort of retro-futuriatic post apocalypse, IE a future as imagined in the fifties, but then add a nuclear exchange of superpowers. In the games you find all those tragic and dark stories as you explore the Wasteland, the series show them, but both do a very good job of what good SciFi should; holding up a dark mirror to humanity- and with Fallout it is really dark.

Yeah the bombs fall in oct. 2077 Fallout 4 plays in the year 2287 (in boston) Fallout new vegas plays in the year 2281 in las vegas (obvious) and the TV show in 2296 in california. The TV show is currently the furthest in the future in the Fallout franchise. But this isn't the first time we've seen the bombs fall, Fallout 4 also begins "before the war".

This show takes place 9yrs after fallout 4 game. It's based on the game universe. The 1st part of the episode took place in 2077 show takes place 219yrs after that which places it in 2296.

Before the *Fallout* title appears, we're looking at MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction), exhibited by MIRV (Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicles). And you have to remember that in the 1990's, the USA and USSR signed a treaty to reduce their arsenals of warheads to just 6000 each. That's not taking into account all the other countries. If you're really interested in this stuff, there's bits and pieces all over the Internet, and they're all horrifying. And somehow likely to happen. Just look at what the current governments are up to.

fallout 3...fallout new vegas and fallout 4 all in one... its set 8-10 years after fallout 4...that airship shown has a sister ship in the eastern seaboard named the airship fortress Predwyn. but it originally came from the west on scouting mission to the east but decided to stay in the commonwealth and started a war with the highly advanced organization the institute... if you play as the vault 111 sole survivor and finished the game as a brotherhood soldier.. You will be given the rank of Sentinel the Second in command in the brotherhood ranks. the west elder mentioned the high clerics and elder of the commonwealth...he refers to elder Maxson and The Sentinel sole survivor of vault 111... So as Lucy traverse the wasteland.. there's the sole survivor in Boston that is both the general of the minutemen (peoples army of the commonwealth) and the sentinel of the brotherhood of steel eastern chapter.

I can see someone from the UK might not know the visual reference. When she looked out at the ocean, that was the remnants of the Santa Monica Pier. One thing about Fallout Lore are the numbered vaults and their locations. Every "entry" in the Fallout Series, the named locations are very much "important" to the fans lol. Fallouts 1, 2 and the Show are closely based in the LA Greater Area, depending on location. Fallout 3 is in the Washington DC Area. New Vegas is Las Vegas and surrounding area (Eastern California and Nevada). Fallout 4 is Boston and surrounding Massachusetts Commonwealth (some US States call themselves Commonwealths), and Fallout 76 is in Appalachia, West Virginia.
