Next time you're picking out caterpillars by hand, do it at night and use a blacklight (just a little flashlight one will do). They glow under black lights so they're easier to spot

I'm going to sow them as soon as I get the seeds outdoors this time, and I think I should have more than enough time before our first frost.... and even then, they only get better after a bit of cold!

No, I don’t. You can remove the very top of the plant in september or october, roughly 3-4 weeks bedore harvest. The plant will then put more energy in to growing sprouts instead of growing taller. @@KatheeWilkinson-yy6ry Well, yes. But their flowers need to be cross-pollinated. So You will need more than just one plant flowering at the same time. Also, all cole crops are same species and will cross with each other. So in order to have the same plant, You must ensure that only the same type of plants are flowering at the time.

Hello Candice! Give them some more time. These plants require long time until they can be productive, especially in the winter when days are much shorter (assuming you live in mild winter area). There might not be anything wrong, just be patient. brussels sprouts will grow almost to their final height at first and then start being productive. If your ones are good size and healthy green, they will grow you some yield for sure! Good luck 🍀

Nettle fertilizer and I just mix it with water, roughly 1:10 ratio and water the plants with it once, sometimes twice a week.

Once harvested, would they regrow?
@Liap
@Liap 3 жыл бұрын
No, once you harvest brussel sprouts, they will not regrow on the same spot. But they will continue growing upwards. I still have some in the garden and as it is around 1°C to 6°C they are still productive and I am harvesting decent yield every week.

I bought some 4 -6 inch seedlings and the tag said "85" days to produce....I planted them late May or early June......that should be enough time but I don't know.....hope so....
@Liap
@Liap 2 жыл бұрын
It is enough time. Brussels sprouts dont grow very well in hot weather, but once it cools down it will grow much faster. Depends on the area where you live, if it's too hot during the summer, the "85 days" will take a little bit longer 🙂

@@Liap it keeps deleting my comment. Try it on test plants and also be aware about the fact that it keeps away also pollinators, so don't use it on plants that need pollinators.

Well, depends on the container size, but better not. They will “fight” for water and nutrients.

Here in Europe it’s quite common vegetable, so it’s pretty much in every garden shop. Also it’s available online. Where are you from?

Well I can't say for sure, but I would suggest you start them in october and grow them during winter time. Try to find them a spot with morning sun and shade when the sun is at it's strongest. There are also quicker-maturing varieties which have been created for warmer locations. I know some people grow these plants in Florida during winter months succesfully. You should give it a try, there is nothing to lose and I would love to hear from you about results 😉 Good luck!
