good stuff. I think the song lyric you chose also alludes that the change you need on your shoulder is in your head. Your head. Change your perspective, change your life, change your world. It's all perspective, the choice we make to engage with life. Watching this movie was transcendent for me. I saw myself in Jesse, his 2nd favorite professor, and the male student he mentors; and have a little more hope for myself now. My exwife is 9 years my junior and we broke up what feels like yesterday still, I am still mourning... But I feel seen now, a bit more than before. And a little more resilient because of that.

Fantastic review! I'm 45 now (about a year older than Mr. Radnor) and I've had a crush on Ms Olsen (not just Zibby) after watching this, so was living somewhat vicariously through Jesse. And although Allison Janney was a bit harsh, I did enjoy her quip about 'putting some armor around that gooey heart of yours'.
