You can thank the conservatives, who put in the GST at 7%. And let's not forget that they moved access to CPP for Canadians to 67. At least the liberal party reduced the GST and retirement to 65.

There aren't any taxes on groceries. How the hell do you not know that? Are you really that uninformed? The taxes that are being put on hold, is the GST on diapers on prepared foods on electricity bills on cell phone bills, those things. Groceries already did not have GST.

When last in power Conservatives had the worst economic & jobs creation performance of any CDN gov since WW2. They inherited a $12+ billion surplus and turned it into a deficit in less than 2 yrs (before the recession hit). They failed on affordability - 800,000 affordable homes were lost - the price of housing went up 60%! Every nation is facing the economic fallout from a pandemic, war in Europe, & a climate crisis - all issues conservatives fail on. If they'd been in power the last 9 yrs - *we would be in arguably worse shape!*

A mere pittance - insulting to all Canadians! Trudeau must have figured out what he could 'cut' temporarily that would be the smallest cut to the liberal tax income and, even then, for a whole two months - my oh my - aren't we lucky! Whether you save $100 or $500 over that two months in GST - keep in mind that on the next April Fools' Day the carbon tax takes a leap - so maybe tuck your savings away for that day! In the meantime we have to tolerate JT's sanctimonious sermons on how he has been so benevolent!

What is "the payroll tax" exactly?
@Mikesfun
@Mikesfun 4 сағат бұрын
@ I appreciate you asking:) the additional money business owners have to pay the government quarterly, that is based on an employees wage for a pay period. For every $1 I pay an employee, I am required to report and pay the government 2O% in addition. For small businesses this can add up quickly and de- incentivize hiring more employees or paying higher wages to existing employees. Generally staff that are paid $22 per hour actually are costing the business owner $25.50 or so an hour because of the governments cut. Consider how this math might be difficult to rationalize for a restaurant owner paying servers or a small retail shop owner. the struggle business owners are going through with high interest rates and CErBA repayments, a staggering economy -the middle class needs a break!!! CFIB is putting the pressure on our government, but we need to spread the word to help small businesses so that they can continue to be competitive.

Glad to know Poilievre has nothing to say. Give him power and the only tax cuts you'll see will be for oil companies.
