I did a super basic research on this for a community college public speaking class, not only is there evidence that the planet is getting warmer, but they have charts and graphs that you can look at. NASA has been studying this and they have found that the last few years have been record breaking years of heat in a row. Also, they can prove through examining the CO2 in ice cores that indeed atmosphere is growing more abundant with CO2. The thing about CO2 is that it traps heat, so when there's a bunch of it in the atmosphere, the planet almost literally becomes oven that's slowly being turned up.

su An even better argument is that billions of people around the world want our lifestyle and in order to make it possible without involving violence, we need to develop technology to make it possible and affordable to live this lifestyle. Plus it will make our lifestyle cheaper for ourselves. In addition, people around the world will be developing green tech whether we like it or not. We can get in on the ground floor and help develop our economy, or we can get left behind and stagnate with the end result being our becoming a poor nation. Even if scientists have missed some intangible variable and our actions aren’t contributing to global warming as much as we thought, we cannot take the chance of being wrong. There are many reasons for us to develop green tech and global warming is only one.

Tom Evans "And who PAYS for the federal government, if not most of the small states? Dumbass." You missed my point and the point of the Eisenhower Interstate System. More than half the population lives in the 10 most populated states. By using the pool of the federal government's money even a state like Wyoming (pop. 600, 000) can have interstate highways built with the help of larger states pooling their money at the federal level. Is that too hard for you to understand?
@SovereignStatesman9 жыл бұрын
RuleofFive Your point is wrong on so many levels that it denies wasting time explaining them. The interstate was built for war, Europe has better international roads without a federal government, private roads could do it better through supply and demand, etc.
@SovereignStatesman9 жыл бұрын
Dom Trussardi Uh, no, without the states there would be no federal government. Law of Nations, Book I, Chapter I, § 10: Of states forming a federal republic: *Finally, several sovereign and independent states may unite themselves together by a perpetual confederacy, without ceasing to be, each individually, a perfect state. They will together constitute a federal republic: their joint deliberations will not impair the sovereignty of each member, though they may, in certain respects, put some restraint on the exercise of it, in virtue of voluntary engagements. A person does not cease to be free and independent, when he is obliged to fulfil engagements which he has voluntarily contracted.* This ties into Federalist No. 39: *On examining the first relation, it appears, on one hand, that the Constitution is to be founded on the assent and ratification of the people of America, given by deputies elected for the special purpose; but, on the other, that this assent and ratification is to be given by the people, not as individuals composing one entire nation, but as composing the distinct and independent States to which they respectively belong. It is to be the assent and ratification of the several States, derived from the supreme authority in each State, the authority of the people themselves. The act, therefore, establishing the Constitution, will not be a NATIONAL, but a FEDERAL act.* *That it will be a federal and not a national act, as these terms are understood by the objectors; the act of the people, as forming so many independent States, not as forming one aggregate nation, is obvious from this single consideration, that it is to result neither from the decision of a MAJORITY of the people of the Union, nor from that of a MAJORITY of the States. It must result from the UNANIMOUS assent of the several States that are parties to it, differing no otherwise from their ordinary assent than in its being expressed, not by the legislative authority, but by that of the people themselves. Were the people regarded in this transaction as forming one nation, the will of the majority of the whole people of the United States would bind the minority, in the same manner as the majority in each State must bind the minority; and the will of the majority must be determined either by a comparison of the individual votes, or by considering the will of the majority of the States as evidence of the will of a majority of the people of the United States. Neither of these rules have been adopted.* *Each State, in ratifying the Constitution, is considered as a sovereign body, independent of all others, and only to be bound by its own voluntary act. In this relation, then, the new Constitution will, if established, be a FEDERAL, and not a NATIONAL constitution.* --The Federalist Papers : No. 39 So the USA is a federal republic, not a national one-- i.e. a purely _voluntary_ association of sovereign nations, each ruled supremely by its _People._ Thus since the states were legally sovereign nations by law, the Lincoln regime accomplished its war by lies and _censorship,_ locking up anyone who told this truth, and even toruturing them with horrible tortures including shoving hoses down their throats and filing their lungs with water until they exploded, in addition to running concentration-camps for anyone who resisted. THAT'S how they won the war. However with the internet and other modern technology, there's no longer any way to do this and get away with it; and so once the truth is known, the end of tyranny will come not with a shout, but with a Twitter. Like when Mayor Daley's police beat up the Chicago protestors of the Vietnam war, "the whole world is blogging." In contrast, here's the White House's official response to Texas's petition for secession: *Our founding fathers established the Constitution of the United States "in order to form a more perfect union" through the hard and frustrating but necessary work of self-government. They enshrined in that document the right to change our national government through the power of the ballot -- a right that generations of Americans have fought to secure for all. But they did not provide a right to walk away from it. As President Abraham Lincoln explained in his @19 in 1861, "in contemplation of universal law and of the Constitution the Union of these States is perpetual."* As proven by the above passages, this is clearly a lie. And once this lie is exposed, and the People of each state learn that their state IS a sovereign nation-- and that they ARE the ruling sovereigns-- then that will be the end of it, states will secede at whim..... just like they can secede from the UN. "The pen is mightier than the sword.. and the truth shall set you free." --Lord Byron and John 8:32

Of course, the point of this conversation was for another right-wing libertarian to play narcissistic games, not to have an actual dialog with another human being. Another round of "Soggy Biscuit" anyone?

Prior to the Constitution, the Articles of Confederation gave all the rights of taxation to the states and the Fed Government could not even raise an army. It was the "founding fathers" realized that a weak federal government would not work. They replaced the Articles of Confederation with the Constitution to resolve that problem. If the Libertarians think that the founders knew best, well OK.
@MrOttopants10 жыл бұрын
The whole fucking point of the constitution was to have a strong federal government that could hold states in order. If they didn't a fucking federal government, they wouldn't have gone through all the fucking effort to draft one of history's most important documents. The federal constitution actually did away with laws that the states had which were counter to the federal constitution. Things like religious tests, for example, were removed from state constitutions.

Calls like this are always funny to me because I’m 21. 10 years ago, when this call was made, I was 11. When I was a young kid it snowed every November. I even went trick or treating in the snow once. In my sophomore year of highschool it snowed on Christmas. That stuck out to me because it made me realize this was the first time I’d been alive where it hadn’t snowed before Christmas. Incidentally, that was the last Christmas I had snow. People don’t tend to ask why it doesn’t feel warmer, because it does now. They deflect to other things. But if they could still deny it is happening at all they would. I’ve met people that to this day still think the entire thing is a hoax. But it’s hard to believe the scientists are lying about the sky being blue when you can look outside your window and into your memories at any time to confirm they’re right. If I don’t move my kids are never going to have snow on Christmas again. Smug people like this, and evil people like the ones they vote for took it from them. This never makes me sad though. I can’t bring myself to feel bad about losing a snowy Christmas when I think about how many tens of millions are going to die and how many hundreds of millions are going to become refugees in the coming years.

The lightbulb arguement again... I light my house with 5w LEDs. That's what a nightlight used to draw when I was a kid. Even on cloudy winter days, my solar panels still guarantee I'm not paying for light. You'd think someone calling themselves a Libertarian would appreciate that.

Well, if you're only free because you own yourself, and you can do anything you like with your own property, then you should be able to sell yourself. Therefore, Libertarianism endorses slavery.

This is painful to listen to. Why can't people make an argument, then defend the argument? Here, this guy makes an argument then when he can no longer defend it he just starts spewing word salad. What is the point of arguing with someone who clearly does not know any of the facts? Seder is merely showing that people will argue just for the sake of arguing. What a waste of time arguing with people who just like the sound of their own voice. I usually steer clear of arguments when my knowledge of the facts is limited. I will admit that there are many subjects where the extent of my knowledge is limited. So I talk about the weather or sports. You don't have to know anything, I'm just making small talk that's it. Sometimes I just listen in hopes that I will learn something that I didn't know. But I usually fact check everything before I consider it to be fact.

Wow, that wasssss EPIIIIC! I love how easily and repeatedly he exposed the hypocrisy of Libertarianism. “I would cut everything that actually makes the economy run better, and leave the military budget super over-inflated.” “Businesses should be able to totally treat all minorities as second hand citizens. If you were born anything but straight white Christian male, your life should be fucking awful and insanely harder, because that is healthier for the economy than making bigots feel icky.” Oh, I forgot. Magical fairy dust will insure people civil rights, no government necessary.
