i have a slight itch in my head after watching this
@20JAYKAY203 жыл бұрын
It’s an easy fix. My son had very long locs and caught head lice. Despite the fact that he would curl up with me on the sofa, I never caught them. Then it hit me like a bolt of lightning. I straighten my hair. No lice could withstand the heat of my straighteners. So I sat my son down and clamped the loc one by one near to the root and that was all. After months of lotions and potions, I eradicated the fleas and eggs using this method in a matter of days. Ok, he had funny flat dreads for a few hours but they returned to normal very quickly. No shaving, no chemicals. He is now 20 and still has his locs. Lice free of course.
@20JAYKAY202 жыл бұрын
@@DabbaHashery glad I could help. Trust me, it works extremely quick so don’t panic if you do get them. I have heard too many story’s where people have cut their locs. It’s a shame because this solution was so easy.

What if your scalp is itching? Don't they live on scalp? What do you do in that case
@20JAYKAY202 жыл бұрын
@@hassanfarhat3878 I think they must walk up and down the hair shaft. The lice are attached quite close to the scalp but I know from experience that it kills them without scalding your head. The steam and or heat produced from the tong’s kills them. When I rid my son of them, as horrible as it sounds, you could hear the eggs popping. He had loads of them because I struggled for so long to get rid of them and him being in primary school, they pass from child to child so easily.
@ahill22398 жыл бұрын
Good tips but you missed a major step. Lice can live up to two days without a host on your pillow, sheets, couch, car headrest, etc. barring extreme weather situations. You need to vacuum your residence and car and wash bedclothes and clothing in very hot water and run through a dryer. Also, vinegar (apple cider or white, doesn't matter) will dissolve the "glue" holding the lice eggs to the hair shaft with an added bonus that lice don't like it anyway.

Eggs hatch between 5 to 8 days, so if you are doing a treatment every 3 days, then you may get away with 3 treatments, 4 to 5 for the 110% certainty that you are lice free. Hope this helps!

I really am a tea tree fan. I used tot have a dreaded dog. In addition of fleadrops I always had a home made tea tree spray to prevent any bugs getting in the dogs dreads. So I allways use the same on my own dreads. From experience with dogs it's better to be safe than sorry. (do not use tea tree on your cat btw, it will kill them)

I'm glad you made this video. It's really good to know in case something like ever happens to me. Also, I get to show this to my mother who is adamant about getting rid of my dreadlocks by infesting me with lice. She firmly believes I would have to shave my head completely to remove all of the lice. I kid you not - she's a school nurse and said she'd get one of the kids with lice to come near me in hopes that I will contract that awful fate. So thank you thank you thank you for this informative video.

I have dreads and my kids got lice from school. After 3 months of lice shampoo every other day I found out that lice are becoming resistant to chemicals. I started using vinegar and spraying everything with Lysol disinfectant. Word wonders. Downfall is my kids school won't send kids home with lice so it kept coming back. I started spraying their hair with diluted mouthwash after wading the vinegar out and they stopped bringing them home

That is such an issue, I got them from somebody, and now I can't normally live. It all started last month, and I killed them all with the shampoo by regularly washing my head each day during the week. I felt like finally, no more lices, but they are back. I checked my dreads very precisely and found a huge nest of eggs almost around the whole head... And I'm fucked. I have my trip planned to Brazil this summer, and I don't want to shave before. Please, wish me good luck on this war, because I'm so annoyed and honestly pretty much afraid. It's a terrible issue, and I hope I'll save my hair.
@tommytiger35585 жыл бұрын
Oh, and by the way - eggs period is 21 days, so when you killed all of the lices, and half of the eggs, for example, you still gonna get them back sometime after.

And my plan B for that - is to 1) get my long hair back 2) kill all lices 3) make dreadlocks again.

Hello everyone, I currently have lice in my dreads. A real nightmare for any dreadhead. However, there are very good non-chemical treatments that can kill both lice and eggs with one application. It's not that cheap, but if you wanna keep your dreads it's the price you must be willing to pay I guess... Get yourself Licener Shampoo and Hedrin Spray Gel. Both work in the same way and I simply use Hedrin first and wash it out with the Shampoo. It's relatively oily, but effective. I will repeat the treatment again in a few days and until then I spray my hair and clothes with a mixture of water plus tea tree and lavender oil a few times a day. And don't forget to wash all your stuff at 60 degrees or alternatively put it in plastic bags for several days or in the freezer for 48 hours. Check if anything still lives on your head by shaking your dreads above the bathtub or let someone check your roots 😅 I can keep you updated if I got rid of them the way I handle it. But I got a good feeling that it'll work.

Yup, it worked well! One treatment and everything was gone. I used the shampoo about ten days later just to be sure. Much easier than expected!

So for the alcohol method I should soak the dreads in the pure rubbing alcohol and then use the shower cap?
@krystamonique476 жыл бұрын
That’s what I’ve heard. Listerine works because the mint (natural insect repellent) combined with alcohol content. A lot of times people try to suffocate the lice which may work up to a percentage, but the problem lies with how long lice can live without oxygen. It’s like homeboy said, you have to keep repeating the process until you’re 110% sure they are all dead.

@LazyDreads8 жыл бұрын
You're as likely to get them whether your hair is locked or not :p
@dropj38 жыл бұрын
it could even be the other way around. It might be harder for lice to hold on to the loc and penetrate a dreadhead until the bastards get to the scalp. This might motivate lice to go on a non dreadhead.

Okay when I was very early in my dreading process I had gotten lice. I did what this video told me and some other sources had, it worked, I have no living dreads on my head. HOWEVER, after suffocating and killing the living live a great great number of dead but eggs are still in my hair. Obviously due to the matted hair and such combing these eggs out is not really possible, I mean the hairs it's on are all not really dreaded yet. Just the tips not so much at the roots yet, but still I don't want to undo the process and comb them out I'd much rather just figure out something to do. Online sources have gotten me no where and I don't wish to scare any of my friends who may think I still have lice so please can someone tell me what to do to remove dead nit eggs without combing my hair.
