i installed a 250cc chinese engine in a Honda 100 crf, it went straight in, no fabrications was needed, the sprocket chain actually fitted in line with the front sprocket so this part needed no mucking around with, this honda 100 chews up dirt like its hungry with the 250 cc engine. at the moment i have a old honda xl 250, was thinking of installing a 250cc chinese engine in it as the honda engine is stuffed, dont know if this one will fit straight in yet, find out in the future

I did the same my self and swapped my Honda XR125L 06 with a 250cc Lifan engine. The thing is that these engines are great manufactured, but with lower quality than Japanese. Therefore they are meant to not rev more than 8000 and like to be kinda low in revs. They are cheap and can do the trick, but it depends on what you are looking for. I would not buy them again.

4-14-22 I'm putting a cg250 engine in my 86 xr200r just like this. I got the mounts ground off the engine in and about to buy a wire harness . Not sure about my chain thou that's something I hadn't thought of good vid🖒

@@NuhashHossain For me the motor mounts were everything …it just dropped right in..and all the holes were exactly the same. making new motor mounts would be a monumental challenge

Out of curiosity, what did your overall sprocket ratio end up being? I know it's a 54t rear, but what's up front?

Front sprocket is a 14 tooth. The ratio was great for off road but max speed was about 55mph

@@tomhannockoutlaw972 Thanks for the information! I'm doing this same swap on an XL125S and I needed to get an idea of what my final gearing needed to be. The stock 14/56 is pretty close, but I'm fairly sure that my rear tire is smaller, so I'm going to start hunting for a smaller rear sprocket.

Did you use your Honda alternator, and did the harness have suitable connections?

Not sure what you mean by alternator if you mean the voltage regulator no I didn’t use that because I didn’t use the electric start and I didn’t need a battery …as far as the wires go there was one wire I think it was the red wire on the largest connector that didn’t line up with the other red wire from the other connector so I just move the red wire I didn’t want to put that in the video because I figured it was a mistake by the manufacture on my particular motor And I didn’t want to confuse people.. hope that helps.

I say the Lifan is a much more robust engine than the predator.. not sure about easier to install though..

Make sure all the wires in the main connector have corresponding wires to the bikes harness.. I had to move the red wire.. it was in the wrong place..

I used the sprocket that came with the Lifan 200cc….it’s a 428 , 15 tooth sprocket.

I did an internet search for the pitch and hub size of every Honda sprocket ever made and I found a rear sprocket that match the XR hub and the Lifan sprocket pitch

Whats the top speed you can acheive and does it still have enough power to be enjoyable offroad? I have this same engine i boutht from a guy mid swap so idk anyrhing about it. The exhaust really bolts right up? I was gonna make my own but this seems way easier to just find one

Top speed probably.. 55mph ..plenty of off-road power…and yes, my stock XR 200 exhaust bolted right up to the lifan 200 Chinese motor

Not sure what you mean.. I believe most of the bolts on the rocker cover just hold the rocker cover on...

The CDI an the electric start are completely separate circuits.. so that shouldn’t be a problem.

Runs great.. ended up putting the old Honda xr200 carburetor on. The Chinese carb worked good but made it kinda hard to start when cold.. now it starts 1st or 2nd kick.
