Those fire ants are not much fun. If you have ever been hit by them you would understand the tears. Bloody horrible imported things that we here in Aus can do without. Terrible problem with them in Queensland where they believe they entered the country from a ship. Millions of bucks spent trying to eradicate the bludgers.

We were in treasure cay in July and I broke my ankle, had to go to Marsh harbour to get an X-ray. I got off the boat took the dingy to town and called a taxi. As I was waiting I stepped on a fire ant hill with my good leg. I got close to 20-30 bits and the taxi never came. A local gentleman saw this all go down and too potty on me and drive me to the hospital. I was in a cast from July to September. Now I’m healed we are leaving Florida this week to go back and finish our adventure on our catamaran.

Ants in your pants... Damn that brought back memories. When I was about 7 or 8 I remember playing in the sand that was contained by an old tractor tire. Indiana fire ants snuck up on me and before I knew it I was covered. They were little but mighty and relentless. I feel for you and felt your pain. Safe travels and have fun in the Bahamas!
