I have a very interesting question. How was "years" tracked? So we know it as 1000 A.D. today but with India having so many different religions, constantly changing empires and dynasties, was there a standardized calendar used throughout it all or did calendar's systems change frequently? Today, we all use the Christian calendar regardless if your Christian or not but how was it in ancient India?

The hindu calendar follows two calendars the vikram samvant started by vikramaditya of ujjain and shak samvant started by shak ruler kanishka. Still today festivals are marked from this calendar but since the gregorian calander is now officially used in world we convert dates according to it.

There was the hijri calander too. The islamic calender so we know of The attacks from the Gaznavids and when we mix the 2 calnders we can make out the dates very easily

History is wast, ancient Indian history has many secrets of life. Travellers and scholars like Al-Biruni, kept history alive for us.. by putting their observation in books and records. Digging those records and putting them in a script and making an attempt of unbiased video requires lots of hard work. And you are doing a pretty good job. @@abdulaleem9207 yes.. hindus were not idol worshippers before gupta's... hindus took idol worship from buddhist's... hindus before idol worshipping were only into yoga, meditation, fire rituals and there offcourse were some local populations who did some sort of idol wpship...even today the saints of hindus dont do idol worship
