My first time ever house tour video!! I was so nervous I forgot to show you guys my refrigerator! 😭 My vlog camera, Lumix GH5s was broken so we had to film with iPhone (we have canon cameras too, but didn't have the right lens to film this type of video 😕) I honestly think iPhone made more aesthetic feeling in the video, I ended up loving it! What do you guys think? Re: Tomatoes--You might try planting tomatoes on the side of the house that is away from the sea breezes. They are sensitive to both the salt in the aerosolized ocean breezes and the dehydrating effects of constant air movement. Caution also about irrigation water that may have salts in it. Otherwise, a sunny spot and low-salt soil should do it.

Aloha and welcome to Hawai’i ! We moved here to the Big Island 3 years ago from the East Coast with no farming experience and built our farm from scratch. We have animals, are beekeepers and have planted a fruit forest to lead a more self sustainable lifestyle. While we have learnt a lot from KZbin, we have found local Facebook groups (specifically Homesteadin’ Hawaii and 808 Green Thumbs) to be invaluable in terms of growing and learning in a short period of time. Depending on whether you are on the windward (rainy) or leeward (dry) side, certain things might grow better for you during different times of the year ! All the best on your homesteading journey !

The plant you couldn’t remember the name is nasturtium, the flowers are edible. The doorway is an arbor of sorts. You need to aerate the pond and make it a little bigger. What a sweet kitty. I love your new home and wish you many happy years here.

You can watch KZbin videos on how to preserve fresh eggs in lime (mineral not fruit) water. They stay fresh for up to a year just stored in a cool place in the pantry.

@@SeonkyoungLongest I used to have a little trio of hens! ( I really miss them!) Eggs have what's called a natural "bloom" covering their surface when laid. If you just brush off any dirt or obvious debris and do not wash off the bloom, they will keep 2 weeks unrefrigerated and 3 months refrigerated!

I wouldnt give up on growing tomatoes yet! Try some different varietys, or ask your neighbours/friends which ones they ahve had success with. For sure you can grow tomotoes in that climate

That's certainly a unique layout. I love the tile, masonry, and floors. The furniture, not so much, but that will change soon anyway. Also, as a serial pet owner, I encourage you to confirm the new kitty is spayed/neutered. It's just wise in general, but I understand unchecked cat reproduction is a growing problem in Hawaii. Best of luck in your new space! EDIT: regarding tomatoes, you may need to start them from seed and plant them large pots rather than in the raised beds. They appear to have fusarium or some other type of wilt...probably the seller's fault, but it could just be the soil. All of those plant diseases THRIVE in tropical weather.

@@SeonkyoungLongest I have experienced raising the type of duck Bro is and can tell easily by the size and look of the ducks by the fleshy red skins she has on her face. The males of her kind will be about 1.5-2x her size and have more bumpy red skins on their faces. Some even look scary with how much access skin they can have. Lol....Anyway, Bro the duck is a muscovy duck. Look that up and you will see the difference and get more info on her :)......btw, love the new home and especially the land!
