Man. I lived in a project but only until I was 4 so I don’t remember it very much. What a lot of people are unaware of though is that there are private landlords with rental properties in great neighborhoods that accept section 8 public housing. We ended up living in one of the safest cities in Southern California and I thank my mom for wanting to get us out. She made $15k/year tops with 3 kids. I think rent was a few hundred a month for her and then housing paid the remaining $1,000+ for a 2 bedroom house. I was the first one in my family to go to college and I don’t think that would have happen if we stayed. All my cousins stayed, got into gang life, and are in prison now. For all the people in this video that truly want to get out, do some research, make some phone calls, and get out! I wish you the best.
@sfdko32912 жыл бұрын
That's standard nowadays. You aren't allowed to build new properties without 30% (at least in nyc) going to affordable housing.

I lived in those projects when i was a kid in the eighties on pierce st. My parents moved to a house a few blocks away on osborne. Shit was crazy in the 90s i was in high school i remember everyone wanted to be a gangster there was so many gangs just blowin up everywhere you had pacas13, pacoima criminals, knock knock boyz, cayuga st, paxton st, pacoima flats, project boyz, pacoima van nuys, latin times that shit was for real tho, you would see foos at the parks or outside liquor stores atleast 10 - 20 deep and they were always packin’. All tht shit started calming down when they put the gang injunction and 3 strikes rule. A lot of the homies i went to school with are locked up and alot of them aint here anymore. RIP to all who lost their lives in the hood frontline. By the grace of God some of us are still here. Much Respect to all the homies in the struggle.

I lived in Panorama City in the early 90s ( I was 14) and yea it was crazy times. I got mugged while riding my bike and the took it. Two older g’s and much bigger than me . One grabbed the handle bar and shook me down. A few months later we saw one of those guys being jumped by some BSF guys. Gangs were everywhere.

@Salinascali 200 Most homeboys in the area were I lived ( Panorama , Tobias Av ) never bothered the youngens . But I was guessing that those levas were outsiders. They had different colors and sounded central american. I went to four different schools because over population in the schools and saw alot of sh*t . But hey , you live and you learn. Plummer Elementary to Frost Jr High to Sepulveda Middle. When they jumped those to punks they took their jackets off so that’s why I think they were outsiders . Much love homey. Stay safe.🤛🏽👍🏽

We had softball teams and a pop Warner football team called the Buccaneers in the late 80's a lot of my friends went to the Catholic School there.
