Life in the Japanese Heian court (794 - 1185) was different from the rest of the country. It was a culture of manners, decorum, and nitpicking the outward appearance of your peers.

I lived in Japan for a couple years about 12 years ago. That first part, with the bureaucracy? Yea, they kind of still do that. Getting your car registered involved collecting stamps, as in getting the right guy to stamp your paper with the right stamp in the right order so you can go to the next guy and he can stamp your paper. After collecting the requisite number of stamps your registration was renewed.

@@G-Mastah-Fash things could be better, but what bothers me is this instant gratification everything-needs-to-get-done-asap mentality where due diligence is seen as merely an obstacle to be removed. They're strict about security and formality. Again, it could indeed be improved, but a little bit of formality, to ensure someone's legit and serious about their decision, is not a bad thing. side note, according to their labor laws you can't just fire someone, unless they committed a crime.

While we're talking about rubber stamp, the Japanese still use them today. It's called the hanko aka a personal stamp that every Japanese adult owns to sign any official document. Q.2. Explain how forests prevent floods. Ans. Forests can absorb a lot of water. The roots of the trees absorb the water and prevent it from flowing away. Roots of trees also help in percolation of water into the soil. This helps in preventing floods.

The Fujiwara always maintained power in the court up to the Meiji Revolution and in fact continued marrying their daughters into the Royal Family up until moderns times (The present emperor is the first one not born to a Fujiwara woman in hundreds of years). However when the samurai took over actual governance of Japan toward the end of the Heian Period they effectively sidelined the court and created an entirely new government with it's own inefficient and decadent traditions. All governing Samurai were nominally of the Minamoto clan aside from Taira no Kiyomori, his sons, the Hojo, Oda Nobunaga (all of the Taira clan) and Toyotomi no Hideyoshi (a peasant who was adopted by the leader of the Fujiwara clan after he became de facto ruler of Japan to legitimize him). However some of the leading Samurai families or their deputies were distant descendants of the Fujiwara clan who had been sent to the provinces and formed warrior clans rather than noble ones (the Date, the Otomo, the Uesugi, etc)

I've been binge watching these videos past couple of days and every single one has mentioned the fujiwara clan marrying their daughters into the imperial family granting them power for 200 years. 🤣🤣 A few videos had that info delivered the exact same way, I was starting to think the clip was being reused!

The sokutai (束帯) is a complex attire worn only by courtiers. The Daijosai (大嘗祭 )is the first Niinamesai(新嘗祭), after the Emperor held the throne ceremony. “The Niiname-sai (新嘗祭, ) is a Japanese harvest ritual“. On November 23rd you will see the real Emperor's sokutai

If I'm Japanese or not'... Japan is a holiday that day Before the war, the Emperor was the pinnacle of Shinto. Now, the emperor is not the pinnacle of Shinto. The Emperor prays for the well-being of the people in shinto form in the form of an individual right , on a daily basis.(宮中祭祀) The Emperor himself cultivates rice fields, plants planted, raises them, and reaps them. The Empress heriself raises silk worms and reel silk off cocoons. Daijosai is only once for the Emperor. Daijosai means that he has officially inherited the Emperor. You can't see them directly

@Drakon590 The difference is that the Emperor must not defend one religion, Therefore, shinto events are held from an individual's standpoint, and the tradition is transmitted. There is the a law called the {Imperial House Act} There's no point in hiding it. It's known , so there's no point in hiding it.

@Drakon590 Well, before Daijosai… The Enthronement of the Emperor of Japan - Sokui no rei of the throne is an ancient ceremony that marks the accession of a new monar ch to the Chrysanthemum Throne, the world's oldest continuous hereditary monarchy. Various ancient imperial regalia are given to the new sovereign during the course of the rite. The schedule is October 22, which will be a holiday His Majesty, wearing sokutai to the Emperor, ascends to the high throne and declares his throne. About 2,500 representatives from inside and outside the country, including celebration envoys from 195 countries, increased by 30 countries from the previous year.. All imperial family mans wear sokutai. All imperial family ladies wear ceremonial attire.(consisting originally of twelve layers of unlined kimono worn one on top of another) (Originally wearing a 12-layer kimono and wearing it on top of the other) The fact that everybody knows

I was thinking he is uploading videos on a timeline. He will eventually get to Edo soon enough. I hope he sticks to a timeline. There are other periods or eras which we know very little about and before going straight into Edo I hope he at least does ten videos for each of the periods that follows Heian. Without them we wouldn't have Edo in the first place. Every era is or was inspired by the one before it.

We have a top down systemically unstable anti democratic capitalist economy that gives the wealth and power created by all to few who have many of our global politicians on strings. Which is why we are likely finished as a species as people like Mr Boris Johnson have absolutely no problem leading us all off an ecological cliff so long as the rich get richer.
