That is great news ushillbillies! I was just in Gibsons a couple weeks ago for the day. You will like it there if you haven't been there already. :) That sounds like a great boat, will you keep it on the Sunshine Coast or move it to Vancouver? We definitely don't get as cold here and rarely get snow in the Vancouver area....we make up for it with lots of rain, but I always say that you don't have to shovel it. :) haha

we have a birth for it there. it will be her home . We know the area fairly well as we sailed our 26x there for 10 or 12 summers... yes the rain is bad bad as you and have said no shoel required , and you have to run your vehicle for 1/3 an hr to defrost the windows..

ushillbillies Oh that is great and you already know how nice the area is then! I'm sure we will run into each other as our boats aren't too far from each other. What is the name of your new boat?

Great video, thanks for showing the wildlife at the start of the video. I was surprised to see some of the creatures, the Blue Heron, being from Florida I did not realize those birds could survive that low of temperatures? Secondly you stated the temperature inside your cabin were 19 degrees during the night/morning? Why would you not be using the on-board heat systems shown in earlier videos? Also, with temperatures that low would not the on-board water lines freeze & burst?

Hi Mitch....in Canada we use celcius so 19 c is about 66 f.

bafway Oops, I forgot that the US still refuses to conform to the logical standards of the rest of the World-and, it will certainly not happen as long as the current mindset is controlling the House & Senate, an further, hell they already accuse Obama of trying to create a European style socialist State- oops there I go finding a political issue were none really needed to exist!!

Yes Mitch, the wildlife is always nice to see for sure. I could sit and watch the birds and other creatures all day. :) Looks like bafway has clarified the temp. I can see how thinking I was having temps of 19 Fahrenheit in the cabin would seem unbearable! haha As you can see now 19 Celsius is quite comfortable and warm. :) During this cold spell we are having right now I have just been leaving my little electric space heater running most nights, but when I get up in the morning it is usually about 15 Celsius which is a little cool for having to jump out of a nice warm bed and get off to work. Last night was 0 Celsius (32 Fahrenheit) outside again and I decided to leave my little electric space heater and wall furnace running. When I woke up it was 20 Celsius (68 Fahrenheit) in the cabin. :) Although I guess I could solve all the heating concerns by just sailing down to Florida! One day!! :)

How to you cope with ice and cold weather? I'm thinking about through holes, ice in the water around the boat and so on. Great videos!
@lifeislikesailing10 жыл бұрын
Fortunately where I am in Vancouver, Canada it rarely would ever get cold enough for the water around the boats to freeze, but I still keep the boat warm inside to ensure no frozen through hull fittings and hoses. The current cold spell we are having is only expected to last another day or so and then we are back up to temperatures around 7-9 degrees Celsius this week. :) Glad you enjoyed the video! :)

LifeisLikeSailing - Vancouver, BC I see. :) Here in Norway we could get cold spells down to -35 C over several weeks. tho this winter has been unatural warm up to this point. Been woundering to leave the boat out next winter you see. However problems with frozen waters and weeks with realy cold weather would give me a challenge. :D
